Back in October that director Rupert Sanders (The Low Dweller) was set to helm Universal Pictures‘ forthcoming take on the fairy tale, Snow White. The film is entitled Snow White and the Huntsman, and was written by Evan Daugherty (Rusty Forkblade, Shrapnel). In December, we reported that Charlize Theron (Young Adult, Mad Max: Fury Road) was in negotiations to play the Evil Queen in Universal’s film.
Shortly thereafter, the film was rumored to star Michael Fassbender (Jane Eyre, A Dangerous Method) as The Huntsman, and Riley Keough (The Runaways) was at the top of Universal’s short list to play the title role of Snow White. Now, Variety reports that Viggo Mortensen (A Dangerous Method) is now in talks with Universal to star as The Huntsman.

Has Hollywood already given up on Justin Marks? The mystery man who was hired to write so many geek-oriented screenplays over the past year (Voltron, Hack/Slash, Super Max, Shadow of the Colossus) is about to have one of his most heavily-hyped scripts rewritten. According to The Hollywood Reporter [1], rookie screenwriter Evan Daugherty has been hired by Warner Brothers to craft a new take on Grayskull, the He-Man feature film that is being directed by John Stevenson (Kung Fu Panda). To be fair, rewrites happen all the time. Justin Marks's script existed before Stevenson came on board, and he probably has a different vision for the film. I'm sure it has nothing to do with the fact that Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li (the only Marks-penned film to hit the big screen thus far) was a total box office disaster! It is kind of ironic though that the...

I have no particular interest in a movie based on the Mattel toy line "He-Man and the Masters of the Universe" and perhaps that's because I am no longer six years old or living in the mid-eighties when I can remember getting all excited for what looked like a pretty cool cartoon. I also must have grown out of "He-Man" pretty quick as well considering I didn't even see the Dolph Lundgren film adaptation in 1987 and for a 10-year-old you would think that would be something to check out. I did, however, check out Lundgren as Drago in Rocky IV... I know how to pick my battles. Nevertheless, after what must have been a lackluster script from Justin Marks, the talent that brought you Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li earlier this year, Warner Bros. has now turned to Evan Daugherty for a new draft of the film, which currently carries the title Grayskull.
