The saga of the Evergreen Standard, that is.

Melissa and Ralph decide the move to the city, and as do Schaeffer and Broo, to Bert's dismay. So at first, Bert fakes an illness to get them to stay. His plan is foiled when Cyril hears that Ralph and Melissa are moving and decides right away to build condiminiums in a large part of the forest (What did he do with that racetrack in 'The Evergreen Grand Prix', abandon it? I wouldn't be surprised). He realizes that stopping Cyril is a bigger priority, and so he, Ralph, Melissa, Schaeffer and Broo start their own newspaper (which lasts the rest of the series instead of one episode, which I like. This show is pretty good at continuity).

The plot goes all over the place a little, but it pays off really well. I still think Ralph is the weakest character on the show, but he has some really great moments here, mostly his confrontation with Cyril at the end of the episode. I also love the suspicious glower he gives Cedric when he's pretending Bert is sick.

And of course Cyril's birthday is on the 13th (although funnily enough, here it's a Saturday and not a Friday. Also, the episode is suggested to take place in October).

The Tommy and Julie subplot is kind of boring, so no wonder the characters written out of the show.

Still, this episode is very enjoyable. Really funny, too.

What I find interesting is that when Cedric is pretending Bert is sick, he crosses his fingers behind his back to show he's lying. He may be more honest than his father, but he's still a Sneer.
