It's very boring, in cerium.
Mappers-Buckles7 December 2020
Warning: Spoilers
It's almost not worth watching this series, it's very boring and the action is a bit forced to the point that it's stupid, one of the only reasons I see this series is because I hear that in the future Rick Grimes will likely appear or be related and already!! (if it's not your case don't waste your time, you'll thank me)

4 stars because I'm not as bad as I look and I'm hoping they'll fix this terrible horror. And this is not the horror of fear but of how terrible it is.

Disney meets the dead
zardoxnet4 October 2020
The key word is BORING. Too many long getting to know you talks without the action and drama of the series it spawned from.

This is the "YA" version of the walking dead. Young Adult, made for high school age level.

You've Seen It All Before (Minor spoilers)
lukeradmore19 November 2020
Warning: Spoilers
My main criticism of this spin off is the complete wasted opportunity.

The CRM have been a looming presence through both the main show but especially FTWD but always shrouded in somewhat mystery & ambiguity. A show exploring this group 10 years into the apocalypse could have been very interesting. Are they trying to make a cure? Are they a good and safe group? How does the society operate? But instead we are given tasters of that (mostly at the end of an episode or post credits) and then we focus on a rag tag bunch of teens just moving place to place just like the main series and FTWD focusing on each of its respected groups moving place to place.

The difference between this and the other shows however is that at least the characters in the other shows are likeable. Everybody here comes off fundamentally boring and contrived. Maybe later on in the season things will improve but at this review (7 episodes in) this is a big misfire.

Great show, IF ...
Her-Excellency18 October 2020
This will be a great show if sometime in the next episode all the melodramatic teens get eaten by the zombies.

The Walking Dead was about autonomy
ersbel22 February 2021
The Walking Dead was about autonomy. This series is about the belief in Government. Without it, wow, the bad guys are going to kill grandma.

As for the zombies, there aren't many. Just melodramatic characters, a sort of The Walking Dead Kids. And not much else, besides lots of crying.

Weak spin off in Walking Dead universe with annoying characters and eh story.
cruise012 December 2020
Season 1 (3 out of 5 stars.)

World Beyond first season is decent in the walking dead universe. I was excited to see a new spin off and different perspective of the apocalyptic world. The series does fail to capture interesting characters. The characters are so terrible and annoying. You would be hoping they would kill them off in the show. Iris, Hope, Elton, and Silus are the most annoying dumb characters ever written. The cast that plays them is not any better with dull performances. Huck and Felix are somewhat decent with there characters. Every episode having a flashback background story of these characters which was not impressive. Except for Hucks dark history. The show also focuses on these teens searching for ones father that may or may not need help when he was taken by the civic republic. There motives are mysterious which may or may not be the good guys. The show is not as exciting. It does have some decent zombie thrills. And a twist which somewhat made it better. The script and direction is all over the place and couldn't maintain in making better characters. I am hoping the second season can improve.

Nickelodeon meets TWD
grlym-4684930 October 2020
I watch in hopes there is an episode where they tune skip ahead 5-10 years so that the show stops being a poorly scripted and acting version of a kid show with zombies.

It's like this show starts with all the scraps left over from the other two shows. So far, the best episodes are worse than the worst TWD episodes in late seasons

Clearly AMC is trying to grab a new age group. But at a loss if the people who pay the bills like Directv or similar paid networks that air this show.

Show has zero edge that made TWD good to begin with. Scenes that should be powerful and suspenseful are comical.

This show is the winner !!! In the race of the worst shows I have ever seen ! As a walking dead fans we don't deserve to be tortured for 2 seasons of a senseless show instead they should provide us a youtube video about CRM story.

Was this even necessary?
spliefer9 October 2020
I can't imagine with TWD running out of steam and FTWD never really gaining it, that anyone was waiting for Nickelodeon Does The Zombie Apocalypse. Did Robert Kirkman lose a bet pr something?

The acting's bad, the dialogue is boring, and you wouldn't even know it was set in TWD universe if they didn't occasionally show those weird shots of zombies with cartoony outlines. Even the wigs are terrible.

The fact they call the zombies 'empties' is kind of fitting. It's how I'd describe the show as a whole.

edit: Against better judgement I watched the second episode. It really is an unhinged mess. At least there were more zombies this time.

TWD fans need to watch till the end
lmilsom-111 December 2023
If you didn't read the series, and have been wondering what happened to Rick, and who the Black Helicopters belonged to, TWD World Beyond is worth watching. The first season is pretty painful, focusing mainly on a group of super annoying youth with no life experiences or where with all. It's frustrating to have so few Walker scenes, or encounters where characters just *push* Walkers out of their way to escape. However, the payoff by early Season 2 is worth the pain. The teens have no one to trust, the adults are shifty and frequently lying for a myriad of reasons, and the communities introduced have secrets at their cores. I binged the second season in 3 sittings, as I hoped to catch a glimpse of other TWD characters, but Jadis is assuredly the best and worst character to have been reintroduced.

Extremely Poor
jhmoondance17 October 2021
This was so disappointing for me n I'm onto episode 7 season 1 but I can't see it improving at all.

Bad inconsistent acting amazingly dire characters n awful story.

I was looking forward to finding more on the CRM n how n where Rick Grimes disappeared to but all I got was a bunch of annoying teens trying to find themselves.

Very disappointing but I will continue to watch it for curiosities sake.

Excruciating to watch.

Shallow, vapid, teen-based show apparently aimed at the below 20 crowd
Asteri-Atypical25 October 2020
I have a hard time assessing this from the lens of a teen. Being... well... somewhat past my teenage years, I can't presume to speak for the predominant mindset and culture of that demographic. I can only speak for myself... and I will.

To me, this show was seriously lacking in depth, complexity, intelligence, sensibility --- even redeemable action or superficial excitement (or fun). Not only is the plot centered around a bunch of teens, but they seem to think like teens, and make stupid typical teen mistakes. The problem is, in TWD universe -- they'd be DEAD. There was nothing uncanny about them, their skills, or their situation which made it seem plausible.

Now, I've seen show aimed at teens or kids, which I truly enjoyed. Either they were more deeply layered, or had fun/excitement/action, or were just plain funny enough, to be enjoyable. I don't see those redeeming complexities, here.

I actually wanted to enjoy this. I gave it a shot -- but I just can't. Some shows, I might say "it's not for me, but give it a shot, maybe it's more your cup of tea." But not this one. UNLESS, of course, you are in that youthful demographic. Maybe the perception of the modern young person is different enough to like this. After all, someone makes Kardashians and other reality shows popular. But if you're at all like me -- you'll wish you'd just passed it by.

Was this written and acted by people stupider than zombies?
xaocam-7748026 November 2020
You know when (at the time of review) there are 18 10 stars and 334 1 star that something went terribly amiss. What is sad is that the writers just don't respond and keep dribbling out the same crap - melodramatic teens that, if they are the first generation after the zombie apocalypse, then the human species is bound for extinction. This is followed by bad acting, except for the occasional zombie and poorly written script. if it doesn't get canned it will be surprising if it makes it past season 2.

80% of the reviews over five stars are singe use accounts (shills)
random-7077812 October 2021
This show is laughably bad. Overage rating of people with a history of more than one single rating or review is 2.36/10 So there is a lot of shilling.

And what is with eschewing firearms? The minute these people walked out of their protected compound they would be a in a world with zero rule of law, and the ability to defend themselves against the portion of people who mean them ill would depend on being armed with firearms (not sticks or spears)

Should've told Negan to bash my head before watching this
jackowayne5 October 2020
I got a simple rule - If anything makes you sleepy, don't waste your precious time on it. Find something better. This boring mess did that in 10 mins.

Mediocre acting, poor dialogue, plot seems to be written taking a doody. There is a 'World Beyond' this atrocity. Explore that!

For some reason my review was declined, I'll try again...offering some balance.
brendencarlson-7368312 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I didn't watch this when it first came on, and I wasn't particularly interested in it as the main characters are a younger demographic and I'm not (okay, call me cranky old dude, I'll admit it). But the wife said that it delved in to the whole Walking Dead/Rick Grimes connection regarding the helicopters so we might want to give it a watch.

Perhaps it was that I was expecting a turd in a punch bowl, or that I had finally finished watching that absolutely horrible show known as "Fear the Walking Dead", but...it really was much better than I thought it would be.

The major weakness was the main character. Her acting was probably the worst of the bunch. She approached the whole "Hey guys, we're walking to New York" with such a casual attitude, that it was too much of a suspension of reality, even for the Walking Dead universe. Yes, her sister was also crying every other scene, etc. But on the whole, I'd say the plot developed in a somewhat suspenseful way, with a certain unpredictability.

Yes, all the usual telescoping of time and distance was present, the kind that's in literally EVERY Walking Dead franchise (someone care to explain how Morgan got to Georgia to find Duane in record time?)

But at least it provided us with some of the story of the helicopters and what that was all about. I'm curious how it will tie in with the new series and Rick being traded to them for Jadis' entry into the Civic Republic.

My advice? If you like the franchise and are willing to put up with some degree of annoying acting by the young un's, it does pay off in the end. At least it's a story that keeps you wondering a bit and doesn't flounder the way "Fear" did. Trying to offer some balance.

If you're thinking about watching this, don't
markjacobproudlock13 October 2020
With constantly annoying characters and a disturbing lack of thrills, this is by far the worst walking dead show. It's basic and infuriating with the lack of anything interesting happening. Just do yourself a favor and avoid it.

So many things wrong with this show
bwauty17 October 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Aside from the uninteresting characters in this spin-off, coupled with the poor acting (compare this with the actors in Stranger Things), there is no compelling story line and no real danger. When the lead character is trying to kill the zombie her companions just stand back and watch her almost get killed. I had high hope for the two "grown-ups" who are following them, but so far their characters are just as uninteresting as the kids. Remember - these kids are on a quest to help the two teenage girls' father. Ludicrous! I hope there's no cross-overs with Fear or the original Walking Dead as it would be too embarrassing for the real actors. But to give the World actors their due - there is just so much you can do when you're in a show with bad writing and a bad concept. I'll try to watch one more episode to see if it gets better, but it may be best for the entire franchise to just cancel this embarrassment.

Truly Bad Show
arfdawg-115 October 2020
Horrible writing.

None of the kids can act. They are all stereotypes written by adults pretending to know how the kids would act and react.

This is clearly the worst of the three Walking Dead sows and that's not saying much since at this point, they are all horrible.
