These episodes are necessary people.
nickkyr23 June 2021
I am tired of people crying when the pace slows down and not every episode has a groundbreaking twist or really major event.

Characters (especially the new ones) need to be developed and form (any kind of) relationships with the others.

This was a very good episode, with good writing and excellent visuals.

After all, even with the pace slowed down, we got a MAJOR piece of information regarding the TVA.

Not every episode can feel like a season finale.

Get over yourselves.

Right Narrative, Wrong Time
vbalodi23 June 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The episode starts off directly where the last one left off, with some overlaps of narrative perspective. Going at incredible pace, it promises something magnificent to come, but drops off poorly after that. Bringing Sylvie and Loki so close to the Golden Elevator, only for them to then conveniently teleport to Lamentis 1 is a very overdone and boring desicion. Was it too much for us to just get a glimpse of the Time Keepers?

Now, to extend the journey and give more time for Loki and Sylvie to grow as partners is a good idea, but this just does not feel like the way to do it. The episode does provide for some great bonding betwen the two main characters and teases a troubled past between Sylvie and the Time Keepers. And Loki talking about Frigga was also a great moment. So was him snapping at Sylvie about her 'glorious purpose', now knowing how it all works.

But there is incredible stuff too. Towards the ending, the almost two and a half-minute long continous shot is a great way to show the chaos on the moon and the fights really seem tight and congested during those moments. Once more, the show provides a brilliant color palette in purple and black, and immediately seperates itself in terms of looks from the previous episodes. Just a few lines of dialogue, are the highlight of the episode, those being the ones about the TVA workers being Variants.

While it is still on par with the previous episode in terms of production quality and direction, it takes a massive dip in narrative and pace. And even though that narrative is still important and really good, this was not time for it, considering the previous installment's promise. It leaves off at a low point for our main characters, and with a hint of a shift in power against the Time Keepers. It is all a set-up for things to come, and is really just a forgettable episode except for a few moments. Tom Hiddleston's brilliant acting cannot save this one.

Entertaining but uneventful
yonatantar23 June 2021
Warning: Spoilers
As strangely entertaining it is to watch Tom Hiddleston sing asgardian songs, Episode 3 is the weakest one in the series so far. This was a pure 50 minutes of Loki and Sylvie travelling, thinking of plans that ultimately always go wrong. Sophia Martino's acting is questionable in the first half of the episode, but it's either I got used to it or she started feeling more comfortable the more scenes they filmed.

Not as good as the first two episodes
DrKennyKeps23 June 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Felt a bit like a filler episode, which I didn't think we would have, considering it's only a 6 episode series, but gave a bit of back story and explanations to the Sylvie character.

Warning: Spoilers
Y'all I honestly can't wait to see the state of the MCU after Loki ends. A Multiverse is guaranteed but other than that, it could go in any direction.

Fun but doesn't add to the story
AnimatedCritic23 June 2021
Don't get me wrong, this episode was a lot of fun with good action scenes, but sadly, it just felt like a filler episode. It almost seemed like a pause for the really good stuff that's going to happen later on. It is a fun episode, but it's only filler for the upcoming episodes behind this episode. I look forward too see the other episodes.

Mos Pelgo and Count Dooku's ship
isabellacheng24 June 2021
A god (probably two) has to fight regular folks with their fists. Sounds about right.

With this amount of creativity, next thing you know, the huge plot twist will be that the time keepers are Lokis. Surprise!

Also remind me why Loki, being Loki, didn't just grab a few "paper weights" from the TVA? Where's his Tesseract?

The chemistry between the leads is great. But I still hold out hope that this episode all happened inside female Loki's mind when Loki grabbed her arm in front of the golden elevator, using her memory and his knowledge of apocalypses to "interrogate" her. So much for thinking ten steps ahead. Behold! A bar fight!

One more thing. If this episode was shot using the same projector-stage technology as in Mandalorian, it did a really bad job. I don't know how to put it concretely, but the background is so clearly CGI that's it's distracting. Like the backdrop being equally out of focus regardless of distance. Or is it the lack of black and contrast?

Loki bi confrimed and great character moments!!
buntybc23 June 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I thought i was in control of the episode the whole time, but it surprised me, every aspect of filmmaking was great(Music, Visuals, cinematography, production design, costume, hair makeup, Action, framing ) everything you see and hear has meaning or some short of intention by director!! Sure you can dislike the choices they made but director knows the film production very well! She is fellow film grad working day job...... check her story out, she is amazing! And if you saying this episode is not eventfull(This is TV not every episode will have answers, Game of thrones was no eventfull half of the time, it was about character interactions) or boring or stalling then you all are wrong, this episode we had character development of loki that we been waiting for and there are many hidden details! Sylvie and loki's chemistry was great, Bisha K. Ali wrote it, we can see the bonding but we know anything can happen, we also learn more about TVA and how mobius can finally retire riding jetski..... loki free mobius from TVA propaganda lmao!

Weakest episode yet
Stubbo2223 June 2021
Corny dialogue, overacting and a stakeless, contained story made this episode the weakest of the series thus far. While Loki's character development was good in areas, his actions throughout most of the episode were unusual for his character and poorly written.

On the plus side the cinematography and score were stunning as usual.

Ultimately this felt more like an episode of Dr. Who compared to the previous two episodes which were excellent.

Solid action episode
LimeBackwardz23 June 2021
A welcome uptempo romp, not exactly low key (ba-dum-Ching!)

The production design alone is worth watching for.

A bit too Doctor Who-ish
socialbeany24 June 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Unlike several other commenters, I like Silvie/Lady Loki, and think that she and original Loki have good chemistry.

But I agree that Loki hasn't asked obvious questions of her and about her, and the whole variant situation. In what way is she a variant? What common history or ancestry do they share? Is she also of Ice Giant extraction? Does she know Asgard or the other Realms, or any of the people Loki knows?

And the setting for this episode -- a doomed planet (moon, whatever) full of downtrodden, doomed people -- does feel like a warmed-over Doctor Who episode (or the setup for Snowpiercer, I suppose). This is only strengthened by Sylvie's north-of-England accent.

Wow this episode was short, but boy it was fun, I'm really invested in this sci fi direction that the show is going forwards. Also can't wait for episode 4 !

Poor
ahk-3771423 June 2021
The writing and acting in particular was the biggest issue of this episode. Hiddleston as Loki was good as always but sophia di martino is horrifically cast as lady Loki, as she really doesn't resemble the character. He acting isn't that good, there is very limited chemistry with Hiddleston. This is more of marvles fault more so than Di martino's performance itself. The writing is also awful this ep. The dialogue was bland and the story of the ep was quite pointless as nothing significant really happens, some minor things such as Loki's sexuality (doesn't really effect the actual plot). Nothing is really learnt about lady Loki, we know nothing of her past, what she was actually intending on doing as her plan against the time keepers.

Overall, this episode was a huge waste, especially since there are only 3 episodes left to conclude the show.

Mediocre acting, terrible editing and awful dialogue
thomasbdl24 June 2021
Warning: Spoilers
After the stellar first two episodes, this one is truly baffling. Loki's actions are completely out of character and, wait... Did he just move an entire building with his mind?! Forget about the fact that we've never seen him do telekinesis before this show... If his telekinesis powers are so great, why wouldn't he use them *all the time*?! He moves a building with his mind and goes for Thanos's throat with a butter knife?!

This was really bad and full of holes.
ZEROspawn24 June 2021
One sentences sums this episode up for me, it's when we in the distances see the city with a time goal on it, and we are told there is 1 minut left, yet they still make it, like how ?

The female "not" Loki acting is bad, like a total miscast. There isn't a spark or chemistry to be found, and as a villein she is laughably weak and dumb. Which means the TVA is even worse, as she walks though those agents like they where wheat in a field.

Loki does not even feel like himself, he keeps not using his powers when they would help, and do things Loki from the MCU or comics never would, small easy mistakes that lead to his downfall all the time.

This felt more like a dr. Who episode, and not from the good seasons we are talking the 13th doctor bad here.

I can't give it bonus bonus for. Tom anymore, so it's score is really low as it's only based on the actual episode, and it was boring and dull for the most of it. They really don't know how to move forward it seems, it's like they lost the thing that made the movies great.

Wonderful!
mystiquebhusri23 June 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This episode was so brilliantly made! Loved every aspect of it and oh my the chemistry between Loki and Sylvie was just so beautiful! Obviously can't wait to see more of it but the most important reveal of the episode was about the TVA and everyone out there being just humans, can't wait to see where this arc leads. But definitely the most mesmerising moment was Loki singing the song and explaining the meaning of love to Sylvie, it was just wonderful! I'm so in love in with this show for showing who Loki is really is and what range he's capable of! Can't believe it's mid season already and just can't wait to be blown away by the upcoming episodes!

A DETOUR
alcantaraj-1659423 June 2021
The episode has some amazing fight scenes and good moments - both funny and heartwarming- thanks to both Lokis. I just feel like this, as of now, is a bit of a detour from the series' main story (particularly the first 20-25 minutes). It may set up important events in the upcoming episodes, but for now, I think it's just an unnecessary detour.

The hate is ridiculous.
mario24109324 June 2021
The haters are either kids or grown-ups who enjoy tv shows where there's no intricate story nor any rich characters but only mindless action like the way it was in Money Heist season 4. This was a joyous and enchanting 40 mins or so of television where we got to personalize with both the Lokis and journey with them. I watched it twice already. This is not a movie people. It's a tv show, so calm your adrenaline craving hormones and learn to appreciate some art.

Strong female characters
Marcusbrody7824 June 2021
Not the best episode so far but what worries me is the hatred towards any strong female character in the MCU. Sophia Di Martino is an excellent actress but there is so much animosity towards her from reviewers on here. The scenes between her and Hiddleston are a joy to watch.

I thought the first two eps were fab but I really didn't see the point of this ep...character development? Setting up later eps? Stalling? The writing was poor...not sure what happened..hopefully back on track next week.

Drastic changes make for a Divisive episode
guitaro-7066324 June 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Very divisive episode. Some will still praise the episode for its quality visuals and intriguing storyline.

The drastic change from a mysterious, dangerous, and possibly insane version of Loki to just another MCU character was jarring. Forcing a cooperation between the two felt rushed.

Let's hope the next episode isn't devoted entirely to escaping the planet or this series will have flung off track from a brilliant and mysterious investigation that pushes the MCU to new heights- to another watchable adventure.
