Of course it was going to be different, it's been 10 years! There were many aspects I needed to adjust to at first such as seeing each wrinkle and freckle on their faces with the upgraded camera technology haha! But the warm feeling you got seeing your old favourite quirky families reunite together once more, that has stayed the same.

I wouldn't change it for the world, the ending may have been frustrating for a lot of people, but it's not an American drama or comedy (where things end tied up nicely with all the answers revealed) - it maintains its British uniqueness, leaving its viewers to beg for more yet still be completely filled with many laughs and brilliant story moments that will stay with in your mind for another 10 years.

Some shows didn't get a long enough run, Gavin and Stacey is on that list. This was the highlight of Christmas 2019, it's almost as if they've never been away.

Loved it from start to finish, it was funny, sweet, but incredibly nostalgic, talk about a trip down Memory Lane.

I can't believe how little some of the cast members have changed in the ten years.

That ending though! They can't leave it like that, please don't let it be ten years before they make another one. Surely those viewing figures signal the demand is still there for more.

Please tell me there'll be another episode soon?!?!?!

The best kind of nostalgia a comeback living up to it's previous hype struck the perfect chord and had me laughing out loud throughout. Teased 2 big storylines not to give us more ASAP though we can't wait another 10 years for this magic!!!

Loved the episode from start to finish. Been waiting for it for weeks. I guessed that we wouldn't find out about the fishing trip but after that cliffhanger at the end, I'm expecting at least one more episode. Brilliant writing from both Corden and Jones. It's ironic that Gavin and Stacey are probably the most boring characters in Gavin and Stacey. Found the scene with Pete and Dawn hilarious.

Full of classic gavin and stacey moments, the cast are brought back together for one last christmas extravaganza, fantastically written and beautifully put together. Well worth a watch for any Gavin & Stacey fan.

Absolutely brilliant from start to finish... Really managed to keep the magic from the original series... No one seems to have aged 10 years... Rob brydon stole the show as usual...

My brother in law was so intrigued why his workmates were so excited about the Gavin & Stacey Christmas special. He decided to give the show a try as he missed it the first time around.

In his words, he was hooked after the first episode on Iplayer and stayed up all night to watch the first series. He watched the remainder of the episodes over the next few nights in time for new Christmas special. I presume he slept at work!

The highest rated show in Christmas 2019 by a country mile. It took me a while to get into it after the last episode was broadcast almost a decade ago.

Gavin and Stacey have three kids now and are getting comfortable into approaching middle age. Their love life lacks a spark.

However the title characters have been overshadowed by Nessa and Smithy.

They both might have a son but they live separate lives. Smithy brings his new girlfriend over for Christmas dinner, a woman he plans to marry however she is uncomfortable to be there.

Meanwhile Nessa has no shortage of male admires even it it means doing a Che Guevara tattoo with shades on as she cannot draw eyes.

The episode was more steeped in nostalgia. It felt like catching up with old acquaintances. I get a feeling that the we will not be waiting 10 years for the next special.

Still as funny as ever, Deffo worth the 10 year wait

I'd never seen the series in the past, but I watched this special because my partner wanted to see it. There were times when I felt that all I was doing was watching other people enjoy their Christmas rather than enjoying my own. Same reason I don't watch soaps. Life's too short for living your OWN life never mind obsessing over what others are doing in their fictional lives. I don't get it? In any case, I found the show quite amusing and the characters are brilliant. I love Rob Brydon and he's great in this. I also liked the way the Gavin & Stacey situation was depicted. Stacey's pier-side speech was very well done. The acting was also very good and as a writer of the show, I thought it was very funny James Corden allowing himself to be 'fat-shamed', although it was quite cringe-worthy in the piece itself! Looks like there will be a follow-up, which I would hope to catch.

Despite the ratings success (there's hardly much competition on Christmas Day to be fair) this hotly anticipated special failed to deliver. Characters have not developed since they last appeared on our screens. Jokes were few and far between. James corden at his most irritating worst. Awful awful awful

Great episode after so long with a decent cliff hanger

I've watched every episode over and over and this didn't disappoint it was awesome what an ending!!!

Superb, Superb, Superb! What a great episode - genius writing from Ruth and James.

I sat enthralled with the whole programme. It was amazing. Just loved the feeling of the whole episode. It was hard to believe that it was 10 years since they were all together. Just lovely characters. Lovely story. Not going to spoil any of the plot but suffice it to say it was cracking! MORE PLEASE!

Wow, I was concerned that this wouldn't deliver but it was like they had never left. Well done to Ruth Jones and James Corden for providing us with a superbly written and fun hour of television. Thank you.

Big build up to a poor script .Should have left it alone

Amazing to see the old cast back together. Everyone fitted right back in together as if nothing had changed. Brilliant writing, acting is always a bit hit and miss but can be overlooked for the feel good factor!

I have only just become aware of G&S last week and binged watch the entire series in 2-days. I was super excited when I found out there was an xmas special and 10-yrs on. This was great news! So n I got to watch all series and the xmas special inside of this week. The Xmas special... omg, how 1-hr flew by when watching it and holy moly... the ending!?!?!?!...... and the fishing trip... LOL. I hope it's like Garth Brooks and this is the G&S come-back as most of tv this year was about old shows coming back. I now feel empty, maybe I'll need to bingewatch it a second time. Well done and start a petition, bring it back!!!!
