Wow! A Return to Form
surreal_self24 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I don't usually write reviews but I felt compelled to with this episode. After the slow burner that Season 8 Part 1 was and a promise to raise the stakes, the writers have definitely delivered. The character development in this episode was excellent, with Allie's spine injury, Ferguson's internal struggle with her identity regained and Sheila's warpath, this season is gearing up to be one of the best in a long time. A true return to form for the series.

This epsiode was soooo good. So we'll written , directed, acted (to be fair so is the whole show). Loved it. It had so many crazy moments. And the ending was gooodddd and i could've never guessed that would happen. But i feel like it was NEEDED for this season ! Reb was way too annoying and i feel like holding back lou from her true crazy self.

Here we go
SJulien1225 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
It's with mixed feelings that we begin this last season, both happy to see the outcome, but disappointed to have to say goodbye to a series that made us experience so much emotion. Joan's visions portend a bleak future for the three officers, and it seems unlikely that they will all survive until the tenth episode. Dr. Miller's story takes a strange turn. I understand that he doesn't want others to learn about his mistake, but it seems a little extreme to me trying to regulate the urges of a psychopath. I have to say it feels good to see Judy less, but the fact remains that I can't wait for her to pay and Allie to remember the real culprit. Speaking of Novak, her scenes are painful to watch, as the dramas in her life keep piling up. I love Boomer, but the Top Dog leadership has plummeted since Bea. Despite the spoilers leaked before the episode and my knowledge of Reb's death, it still moved me. I loved the couple Lou and Reb were, but I understand that his death was necessary so that we could see all of Kelly's anger and strength. Marie underestimated Sheila since the latter understands that Reb's death is more painful for Lou than anything else. I can't wait to see Kate Box's acting in future episodes. I also liked the scene where Marie leans on Ferguson as Sheila signals her that the murder has been committed, as if we are being shown that Marie is joining the psychopath's side.

Brillant episode to start season 9
tay-4812324 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This episode was brilliant I've loved Wentworth for years and loved every season but felt season 8 part 1 lacked the usual high quality Wentworth usually portrays. Season 7 was my favourite as I felt Susie porter showcased an excellent portrayal of Marie winter and a very realistic but cunning villain who had her weak spots and flaws at times. Season 9 episode 1 was marvellous as it contained the edge of the seat moments which consisted of season 7 but I felt were missing from part 1 of season 8. I was delighted to see Marie's villainous side back on hand as I think her character is more suited to this role only this time her manipulative ways are being used to do good seeking revenge for Allie and demonstrating loyalty for her friend who has been viciously attacked. I also taught all the other actors were really showcasing their talent in this episode as every major character was put to use in this episode from the characters of Marie,Allie,Boomer,Rita,Lou,Ruby and Rita. Season 9 episode 1 really hooked me back into the show I hope it continues in the same type of style and tone throughout the whole season as I think it has something all the other prison dramas are lacking and that's usually the taughts the viewer has in relation to what are the reasons for why one committed a crime or who done it and then when you think you have the answers Wentworth offers a completely different explanation to your queries leaving you baffled and astonished this was highlighted to me in season 7 when the viewer was wondering who killed kaz and now in this episode the viewer is left querying as to why Sheila would want to kill reb and not Lou? And did Marie only wanna encourage Sheila to kill Lou or did she intent on reb dying as well as retribution for allies attack. The next episode will answer my queries.

The beginning of the end
jordynfinn-4701827 August 2021
After an agonising year long wait since the cliffhanger of S8.1, Wentworth is back with The Final Sentence, kicking off with episode 1 "Rogue".

This is probably the strongest opening episode in Wentworth since S3E01 "The Governor's Pleasure". Tragedy, revenge, love, manipulation... just some of the themes seeded into the opening for the final season. I was worried the final 10 episodes may feel rushed, but S8.1 did such a brilliant job of putting all the key factors in place, S8.2 can really take those themes and go wild.

I won't spoil anything, but the writing, acting and cinematic atmosphere of this first episode was truly outstanding. A return to top form!

Allie her spine has been damaged after the attack. Rita visits her dad, he is still really sick. Ferguson admits to Miller that she got all her memories back, and that she has a big urge for revenge. Allie is going to stop as Top Dog. Miller gives Ferguson a drug. Allie cries in the shower. Lou wakes up. Reb died. Ferguson pushed the red button. Woah

Season ten is not messing around at all, coming right out the gate with the absolute wildest storylines. More than a few subplots picked up from the previous season which were further developed in interesting ways. I was definitely in my feels for the majority of this episode so top notches for that. I have to give top marks to the acting as well, I couldn't have asked for any better from the whole cast. Always great to see that the whole cast returned for the last season to reprise roles and for a proper send off to a wild and amazing show. Cheers to a very, very, very, long review, thanks to your new rules IMDb.
