Not the same show
kingsx_6423 October 2021
I don't consider myself a harsh reviewer. I think I'm always looking for something good in what I'm watching. That's why it's hard to review this episode for me. Because I absolutely loved the 1st season.

But this is not the same show I watched last year.

I haven't figured out if it's the writing, the acting, or the over all ambiance. But something is very different.

Is it bad? No. Just different. I don't know. Maybe it's all of the above.

But since I don't watch a lot of tv, I'll continue watching in the hopes it recaptures some of the magic that we all loved from last season.

Sadly underwhelmed
connjam5-381-42526318 September 2021
Been looking forward to the return of TMS for a long time and have to say I felt hugely underwhelmed. I was expecting a big intro to S2 but instead it felt more like a bridge between S1 and S2 which will probably start for real next week. I'll watch it again but felt like it was just setting up S2 instead. And no need to because we know the characters.

Episode 2 and the show is picking up stream.

I admit that I had to go back and re-watch episodes from Season 1. This show is complicated and everyone has a backstory with everyone else. That being said I liked this second episode. Well acted, well written, and well directed. I rated it an 8 due to the wonderfully talented Billy Crudup. Each episode he hits it out of the stadium! All the characters are ambitious and think they are putting themselves first. None of them realize that Cory Ellison holds all the strings. He is truly the Puppet Master.

I loved this series. Not now. This episode was ridiculously bad. Reese had some really bad acting scenes (obviously directing and editing choices are to blame as well). Jennifer also needs to not act for the camera. So glad to see her taking on more powerful roles, but when I don't believe she is "holding a cup of tea", it takes away from the great work she is doing.

This whole episode was disjointed. A stupid musical thing. And, the writers told us what happened rather than showed us. If this is the track it's going on, TMS is done.

Fellow Viewers Allow Me to Explain the Timeline
polsixe12 September 2023
Warning: Spoilers
The end of Season 1 occurs in 2019, Cory is fired as Head of the News Diviision. An opening shows NYC in COVID lockdown in late Mar 20 foreshadowing that this season will be in parallel with COVID. Then, the story rolls back to late Dec 19. Mia Jordan, now the Producer, even dismisses the news item about an outbreak in Wuhan. Bradley mentions twice she got Cory his job back but he appears to now be head of the Network, he has taken Fred's job. Future episodes will likely explain further how Bradley leveraged that. And explain what boondocks Chip is in. Just modern storytelling jumping around timelines a bit going back and forth laying out nuggets to follow.

Starts high on style.

The production quality of the entire show is on a different level and that's something that separates it from the other shows out there. The opening episode of the second season is no exception. It was packed with stylish visuals and grand sets. Right from the opening Christmas news special in the studio to the ending New Year ball, the grandeur is very much present throughout. The story may not have been groundbreaking but was decent and kicks off the season quite well. I'm intrigued to find out what's next. I'm sure this season will be as amazing as the first one. Fingers crossed!

A very slow episode. I was waiting this season so bad but now after finishing the first episode i kinda dont know. If I completed this season the only reason will be Cory Ellison ( billy crudup ), he's amazing!, and where is steve carell ?

Guys... Gals... Goldendoodles... this season is going to rock. They have set the bar high. I mean the fact that they are taking advantage of the pre-built tension that is "2020"... I mean... dude... I am absolutely AMPED for the rest of this season!!! Thank you to the writers of this show and the rest of the cast and crew. Y'all have created something ABSOLUTELY BREATHTAKING!!!!! AMPED!!!!!

Seen this all before
WePerished18 September 2021
A very stock, familiar feeling episode that recycles some worn tropes to set up a new season. It's high quality production and acting, as you'd expect. But a fairly mundane and predictable start, sadly. Hopefully it can get back to some more original writing and ideas in coming episodes.

Alex Levy (Jennifer Aniston) and Bradley Jackson (Reese Witherspoon)
aab87417 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Favorite scene with

Alex Levy (Jennifer Aniston) - Very Upset when told that she Needs to put her Relationship with Mitch in her Book.

Bradley Jackson (Reese Witherspoon) - Very Furious with Cory for not telling her - yet - that she did not get The Evening News Job. She had to hear it from the person who did - her New Co-Anchor.

Promising Start but...
zachmetzgers12 December 2021
The show has a promising start. Second seasons can be difficult because characters are in new places, so it's natural that this episode is a little show and thing align into the drama of season 2. I recommend you watch the second half of the season 1 premiere (if it's been awhile) before diving into this to remind yourself of the dynamics and details of how it all came to a crazy head!

WOW wow and wow

When Apple first launched a streaming platform with original content, it was clear that it thought The Morning Show, with its prestige feel and ultra A+ list cast was meant to be its flagship series. But despite its gleaming production values and admirable dedication to telling a complex story with no easy answers, it's often felt like a throwback to shows that don't really exist anymore, rather than the new, cutting edge drama Apple so clearly wanted it to be. "My Least Favorite Year" then jumps ahead several months to show us how things have changed in the wake of the bombshell announcement. And in many ways, the answer appears to be not much - or, possibly a lot, but not in the ways that matter. Mean, one of the first things we see is that a male UBA evening news anchor is being accused of emotionally abusing his staff. Alex apparently quit The Morning Show fairly dramatically, garnering herself a ton of magazine covers in the process. She's retreated to a picturesque Maine house to write her memoirs in the snow. Bradley's new co-host is getting promoted to the evening news desk, and since her ratings are down, internal conversations begin about whether she should be replaced. New corporate whiz kid Stella seems convinced the time to start fresh is here but Cory wants Alex back. The only time in "My Least Favorite Year" that Bradley even feels even remotely like herself is the scene in which she confronts Cory about keeping Eric's promotion from her. She's furious and righteous and that's the Bradley I love. New York City was certainly uniquely devastated by the earliest days of COVID-19 and it's probably necessary for a show that has so thoroughly embedded the Big Apple into its very DNA to somehow address it.

Episode 201
bobcobb30124 February 2022
Warning: Spoilers
So, it was not horrible, but the run time is far too long and the drama they're manufacturing is just not interesting. It is not life and death to get a small role on a New Year's show.

What on earth happened?!
HeroOfTomorrow10 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
We binge-watched the first season with pleasure. While not perfect, it kept us intrigued and the tension was always palpable. So we were excited to pick up season 2.

What a MESS. The writers seem to have forgotten that it's "show don't tell", not "tell us everything in clunky exposition"; the acting, including Billy Crudup's, who was the absolute star of the first season, was cringeworthy and awful; the script was hilariously basic and simple; the plot threads make no sense at all (Reese Witherspoon having the power to get Crudup unfired, but being treated as a useless nuisance? Jennifer Aniston being mad about having to add salacious details to the memoir SHE HERSELF has decided to write and publish?!), and everything feels off. We stopped watching after 45 minutes. No thanks.

Confusing episodes and actors without guidance
mwen001-219 September 2021
Someone has to stop Billy Crudup from taking over the show. He is a great actor but he needs guidance. Everyone seems off the rail. Where is the directing? Plus the script was very confusing and hard to follow! I hope they get their act together in season two. Once was a good show!

What?
tinman-6631410 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The timeline is a mess! Opening scene crudup is fired. Next frame says 3 months earlier!! That makes absolutely no sense, every event shown could not have happened 3 months ago before the firing. Unless it took the board months to act between the final episode of season one, and the opening scene for season two. That's hardly likely! Stupid! Or Unless it's all a dream and I have no interest in sticking around till the end of the episode to see that stale cop out!

Meh. Plot for drama immediately reversed.
meyersjl-959-1793365 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The episode started with a good recap.

The episode didn't have any intensity to it. The entire episode was dedicated to undoing the season one cliffhanger. The characters experience growth over season one and it was lost in the first episode.

Literally had to turn it off
Davidh12239731 December 2021
I loved the first season and watched all the way through but I couldn't even finish the first episode here. I mean honestly it was trying way too hard. And we want to watch entertainment to ease our stress and the depression of the pandemic and they're all wearing masks and it's just too meta. Not for me. I was so looking forward to the second season and shocked I couldn't even sit through the first episode.

Another show about covid
kristygreen1821 September 2021
Loved the first season... this episode was not great, and then to top it off it looks like the season will be about covid. If I wanted to watch more tv about covid, I'd watch the news.. Tv shows are supposed to entertain. Hopefully it gets better.

Jennifer Anniston's face?
derekle16 April 2022
Besides how lost this episode got me, what's happened to JA's face? Bad makeup? Bad botox? Bad surgery? She looks like a mannequin.

And why the hell does a review needs to have at least 150 characters?

What have I Just Watched
GoldenGooner0421 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I loved the 1st season, and have gone straight into the 2nd season, could not wait to watch it and WTF So Bradley has become a Company girl, gone blonde cause she was asked to? What happened to the Bradley from season 1?

So it starts then we see a empty New York cause of Covid, so it must be Lock-down, OK, then we go to December 2020 when the World was just coming out of Lock-down, so how can everyone have a massive party in Times Square where there are thousands (I was there in 2000) and then 3 months later March 2021 New York is in total lock-down?

The 2020 celebrations never happened, and then in March the vaccine was starting to take off and New York was opening up. I mean in May 2022 it's still not fully opened up (I was there) This episode just don't make sense, the writing was a 10 in the 1st series this episode is a 5 at best.
