Catchy song about down under pleasures
Rodrigo_Amaro27 July 2021
Timothée Chalamet brought me here with his Harry Styles impersonation on SNL talking about this song. I heard it a while ago but it didn't hit me for too long until the comedy skit when Timmy mentioned it as being an oral sex song. While Styles makes it ambiguous and finding it valid all interpretations the clip is slightly more explicit with the oral thing being evident.

Here Mr. Styles has a nice time on a sunny beach with lots of girls while tasting watermelons. Notice the way he eats them, the moves and all. It's too obvious of someone who loves the taste of something he likes and with the girls around him the connection gets a lot closer. Sure, there lots of interpretations but as Timmy said it in the spoof it's about down under pleasures a man feels while going down a woman (or a man too). Interesting. POV rarely presented in songs.

The song is catchy though not as much as "Golden" but it makes a nice hit single for the young man. The video is quite good, colorful and very vivid making us remember the good ol times we had before pandemic. Worthy of view because of its images and also the great musical sound. Check it out. And Timmy was def right about the controversy...this is a sex song for the ladies. 8/10.

Watermelons are amazing, this video here is the opposite

Warning: Spoilers
"Watermelon Sugar" is a pretty new song by British recording artist Harry Styles. It runs for minimally over three minutes and that is almost the only positive thing I can say here, namely that it is over so quickly. But first things first: The guys in charge behind the camera are Bradley & Pablo, a prolific duo of music video directors, who have collaborated with other successful artists in the past. I guess the "other" is there because you can certainly call Styles a successful singer, even if I don't like it too much. Have heard some stuff from him and nowhere I really see a great deal of talent unfortunately. I wish I could go easier on him, but that's my truth. Of course, as you can see from the photo here as well as guess from the title I suppose this is a feel-good song for the summer. Sadly, there was not much in terms of partying and summer this year for many because of the pandemic, but still it represented what people wanted apparently because it became a huge hit. Sales went up sky-high. My country German was still more on the cautious side with the song not making the top10. But in the United States for example it reached number one. No words for that. If there is any more evidence needed that commerical music is slumping hard right now, then that is it. It is not a challenging song in terms of what it needs to hit the right notes, it is not a good song lyrics-wise as the text is really simple and sometimes even feels clumsy with how they are building the connection between the title and all that comes before that and it is not even a particularly catchy tune. In short, it has failure written all over it, but it seems many people these days like failure. As I am here on imdb, I also want to say a few words about the music video, because this is the music database. Well, Styles is partying and eating melons and strawberries and his gang, mostly young girls, is with him and having a fun time too and in the end they are also all eating melons. That's it. And I am saying this in a most disappointed manner although I am somebody who craves watermelons more than annything else. Giving a bad name to these delicious fruit. I guess it is self-explanatory. At least the sun and location make me long a bit for summer. However, this is certainly not even close to being enough for a positive recommendation. On the contrary, I give these under 200 seconds my lowest rating possible. Do not watch. Do not listen to this. Skip it altogether.

summer tastes

A summer song about intense sexual desires, fun and great days. Nice, supperficial and...Harry Styles giving a sort of teen ingenuity to this story about tasted fruits and the sugar desired. So, pleasant. And some kinky.
