Megyn Kelly continues her rise in the ranks of Fox News Channel anchors, as the network Tuesday (Sept. 17) announced a revised primetime lineup that includes her new show, "The Kelly File."
Starting on Monday, Oct. 7 (all times Eastern), the very popular "On the Record With Greta Van Susteren" moves to 7 p.m.
"After 11 1/2 years number one at 10 p.m," Van Susteren says in a statement, "and driving home near midnight, I am 'to the moon' thrilled at a new challenge (and a new drive! Half the year I won't even need headlights!)."
"On the Record" replaces "The Fox Report With Shepard Smith," which is going away -- but Smith isn't. He is scaling back his regular Fnc slots to just 3 p.m., now home to "Studio B With Shepard Smith."

Fox News announced on Thursday that anchor Shepard Smith will be leaving his 7 p.m. “Fox Report” and 3 p.m. “Studio B” shows behind to launch a brand new breaking news division at the network and anchor a new hour called “Shepard Smith Reporting” at 3 p.m. Smith spoke to TheWrap about his new role as managing editor of Fox’s new division, which will work out of a newly-built set called the Fox News Deck, where information specialists will gather and curate news across every medium imaginable to be ready to present it to viewers whenever it breaks. Just over two months after announcing that Megyn Kelly would be moving to primetime later this year, Fox News Channel today made the first move of its anchor pieces. The cable news network said Thursday that as part of a new multi-year deal with Fnc inked earlier this summer, Shepard Smith would be moving on from the nightly 7 Pm Et Fox Report slot and having his 3 Pm slot adapted and expanded. This fall, in a brand new studio, Shepard Smith Reporting will take over where the Smith-hosted Studio B had previously been. Additionally, Smith will also head a newly established multi-platform breaking news division as its Managing Editor. In that role he will break in on-air and online with stories in primetime and throughout Fnc’s broadcasting day. “Shep is a premier journalist and one of the finest newsmen of the modern era. He will exemplify the ethos that Fox News...

Shepard Smith loves "True Blood" -- and has the digressions away from his news copy to prove it. But could it lead to a Shepard Smith "True Blood" cameo? He sure hopes so, as he told "Studio B" viewers on Tuesday. Smith has found ways to work "True Blood" into his show -- he turned a roundtable about Lance Armstrong's doping charges into a discussion of the show's fictional drug "V" last year and compared the then-unnamed royal baby to Sheriff Balfour's fairy daughters, who didn't get named until the sixth...

Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly inadvertently broadcast a curse word in the midst of performing an on-air Google Glass demonstration.
Kelly was trying to find out how to say "hot dog" in German -- maybe not the safest on-air search idea if we're all being honest -- and up popped a quote from the 1999 comedy "American Pie."
"You realize we're all going to go to college as virgins," the quote from Jason Biggs' character begins, before explaining about women: "You ask them questions and listen to what they have to say and s***."
Kelly came back at the end of the broadcast to apologize for the accidental obscenity. She also brought up a split-frame of herself in the Google Glasses with Sarah Palin in her regular old glasses, before tossing to "Studio B" host Shepard Smith.

Fox News Channel anchor Shepard Smith's reports on the government's failed response to Hurricane Katrina were a career-defining moment back in 2005. And he's still getting his boots muddy on behalf of natural disaster victims. On Monday he's taking his shows Studio B (3/2c) and The Fox Report (7/6c) to Seaside Heights, N.J., where Hurricane Sandy damaged 60 percent of the homes. Both programs will assess the cleanup and rebuilding efforts six months after the storm. The Biz checked in with the Holly Springs, Mississippi, native before he left and learned about his love for the Brooklyn Nets, his disdain for Twitter and why you'll never see him become a commentator.

On Fox's Studio B this afternoon, Shepard Smith put the pressure on Sen. John McCain (R-az) to explain his seeming disdain for Sen. Rand Paul's (R-ky) Wednesday filibuster regarding the executive branch's authority to use targeted assassinations against American citizens on U.S. soil. As one of the main charms of Fox News' Studio B With Shepard Smith is that anything can happen, and it usually does. For example, as Smith was tossing to commercial Wednesday afternoon, he took what seemed like a hard shot at former Arkansas Governor and Fox stablemate Mike Huckabee's "Chick-Fil-a Appreciation Day," invented to celebrate that restaurant chain's opposition to marriage equality.

I love the Studio B legal conversations. Even on fairly boring days (perhaps especially on boring days), Shepard Smith and his team can find the one bead of interest in any story. Take for example a segment today with Smith, along with Arthur Aidala and Randy Zelin, discussed the case of a Florida man charged with illegally feeding an alligator when he tried to give it a fish and, instead, had his hand bit. I'd say more about the case but, really, who cares (I mentioned it was a boring day, right?)? What really matters is the team attempting to guess what caused Florida to have to warn its citizens not to "molest" gators.

Today on Studio B, Shepard Smith and Judge Andrew Napolitano were discussing the latest rounds of doping allegations against Lance Armstrong. Maybe I'm just projecting here (I'm more of a fan of dope than I am of cycling), but it appeared that Smith just plain got bored with the story. After Napolitano gave his analysis, Smith cut in asking "I wonder if [Armstrong] was taking V." For those of you that don't watch HBO monster soap operas, "V" is literally vampire blood.

Florida congressman Bill Hager is pushing for a new law that would make it a felony to not report the disappearance of a child in a timely manner. The so-called "Caylee's Law," named for the two-year-old daughter of Casey Anthony, most likely has a little something to do with the anger and frustration many felt after learning that Anthony had spent 31 days partying rather than reporting the "disappearance" of her young child. Of course, we now know that Caylee wasn't missing at all but, rather, dead and discarded. Not only did Smith correctly pronounce the name of our site (unlike Rush Limbaugh), but went on to observe "It's not like you guys are always wonderful to us, but I always enjoy reading it." A fondness for the f-word may run in the Lohan family. New York -- For Shepard Smith, covering the presidential debate in Oxford, Miss., will be like going home. That's because it is.
Not only did the Fox News Channel anchor grow up about 40 miles north in Holly Springs, Miss., but his family lives in and around Oxford and within the past year bought a house in Oxford.
"I live less than a mile from the place where we'll be doing the debate," Smith said earlier this week. That is, of course, whether the debate will be held. As of Thursday, it wasn't clear on whether it would go on as scheduled.
All those Mississippi connections give Smith an advantage in everything from knowing all the best places to go in and around Oxford -- he's been advising friends inside and outside Fox informally -- as well as realizing the importance that the national attention that the state will receive on its image.
