Love it but...

Warning: Spoilers
Love this show but this episode was a bit problematic for me. They're too focused on killing superman but they don't even mention killing Edge. ???

Can't get enough of this series!

Warning: Spoilers
Seeing JHI in suit again was great and the fact that the writers didn't go down the evil Superman path is something different and keeps him as a beacon of hope we all know him to be. The acting was great and so was the character development. Can't wait to see what's next!

Zod vs. Steel
coolbutfunny14 July 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Honestly let's just get it out of the way, Diggle should have been in more scenes they didn't even really focus on his headaches and "Worlds Await" that we heard in The Flash but hopefully in Supergirl, Diggle just found out the multiverse still exists because of John Henry Irons and he doesn't call Barry or Kara anyone. I need more of an explication on how John Henry Irons got to this earth because we thought it was due to crisis but it was a portal. Love his new "Steel" suit, still don't get how it fits him when it was ment for Jon Cryer, but it's ok. Zod possessed Superman that was awesome. Steel and Zods fight was great and at the end Clark is free and Morgan activates a solar flair, the Cushing plot line this episode was welcomed you get where the people are coming from but we know what happened. Overall good episode.

You will believe....

Warning: Spoilers
It is hard to explain to people how good this show is, it does not pull any punches when it comes to the emotional and human side of Clark Kent.

When Morgan Edge wants to erase Kal-El's identity and replace it with one of the worst Kryptonians who has ever lived, the only think that can save Earth's Greatest Hero is to remember why he is fighting for in the first place.

This show makes me believe a man can fly.

This show just isn't stopping the excellence

Warning: Spoilers
While Flash continues being the kiddie hour, this show shows why we fell in love with Flash and Arrow to begin with. Superb acting throughout and the message of family resonates constantly. The part where Supes vanquishes Zod and becomes himself again is what watching TV is all about. Outstanding scene. Kudos to the show for having a great villain which the Flash seems to have forgotten. Epic episode!!!

Just when I think it can't get me to love it more the writers pull out an episode like this one. Wow!!!! That is all. Epitome of why I love Lois so much, Clark and the boys too. The character development? A+. The emotions the writers put you on? A+. The acting? A+. The action/VFX? A+. S&L really can't go wrong for me. Every episode it surprises me in a good way :). Can't wait for next week! Looks like another intense one.

The episode contains brilliant drama, acting and writing - Through the Valley of Death will satisfy every Superman fan
Holt34415 July 2021
Through the Valley of Death is the 12th episode of Superman and Lois, it's directed by Alexandra La Roche and her direction surprised me, she have been with the Arrowverse for multiple of years now and is familiar with the stories and characters. Script, acting and cinematography is top notch. The CGI and special effects were also on point, probably because of the brilliant camera work.

The episode follows where the previous episode ended, Lois Lane calling John Henry Irons for help as Superman went to the dark side or what the characters thinks. Other than that, David Ramsey returns as John Diggle. A character he played in all the seasons of Arrow and done several of guest appearances after it's cancellation for continuation character arc which is the green lantern ring.

Elizabeth Tulloch outshined all of her costars, watching her in this episode and the previous ones have been great. The episode were action packed but also dramatic and full with emotion, so thankful that the writers love the material, they have created a beautiful story with this season and I'm looking forward in seeing how it ends. There were nothing negative about this episode, simply perfect and no dull moments. Superb episode.

Bad acting is interlaced with nonsensical scenes which only interrupt the main story flow.

Maybe my expectation from modern tv series are too high. Maybe compressing from 15 episodes to 8 or 12 would make this more entertaining.

Ready to drop this series from my mind.

Incredible plots of fight ,but cgi is not
goldenawards18 August 2021
A great episode, incredible seemed to be the last episode of the season but no, this series has many fillers, but in the fight moments the series hits a lot, but it still needs to improve the special effects of the fights, improve the cgi, but the central script of the seire and good.

This episode was nice but It could have been better
18Buddha26 January 2022
I think the issue some may have with this episode is that often all these superhero shows all lack major long action scenes.

Its the budget I totally understand but still it leaves me wishing they would cut away from that typical way of short action scenes trying too resolve each plots against the villains thats so common in all Dc/Marvel shows

But do not fear! For this episode has lots of great acting and the script was pretty great or some may even consider it very amazing episode if they can look past what i explained up above.

I really enjoyed the ending to the episode though and the way they ended the episode was very fitting.

Through the Valley of Death

With Morgan edge trying to turn Superman evil by implanting the consciousness of General Zod.

Jordan and Jonathan Kent try to locate their dad.

Lois Lane calls in John Henry Irons to rescue Superman. He would rather kill Superman.

There are tense moments as Edge wants Superman to feel pain.

Irons, Lois and General Lane having philosophical discussions about making the right choices.

I did like Jordan developing his hearing powers to find his dad.

It all seems nicely set up for final few episodes of the first season. Edge still seems to have a few tricks up his sleeve.

The continuation of a typical DC comics themed show, bland, boring & unimaginative.
gareth-7544216 July 2021
Warning: Spoilers
So much possibility available with this show, yet those in charge chose to continue the themes that dominate literally every DC show no matter what channel its broadcast on or which studio produces it, dreary, drab & deathly boring, this is a theme that's been prevalent since Snyders reign, so many exciting & interesting storylines, plots & villains available from decades of DC comics & yet they choose the overdone, continuously repeated evil Kryptonian rubbish interspersed with all the regular tropes from the less than realistic & often cartoonish soap dramas, teen angst, infidelity & overly dramatic pointless & silly squabbling.

Superman & Lois does nothing to stand out from the crowd, it blends in seamlessly with the all the other dreadful CW DC shows with stories, plots & dialogue by staff writers with little or no experience with this genre.

DC characters & easily recognised costumes paraded in a cheap soap opera dramady.

In this particular episode Edge is determined to turn Superman evil so Lois asks John Henry Irons to help save him but decides instead to devise a means to kill him & Sam agrees to help, Absolute nonsense, if they're willing to so easily decide to kill Superman then why not instead devise a way to kill Edge before he turns Superman evil, this is bad writing, another constant with the CW DC shows & DC live action projects in general, another constant failing of these projects is the aadition of light hearted & comical moments as shown in this episode with Lana's family, 3 scenes where the family is reminded by other townspeople of how hated they are & the family is virtually at breaking point, we then get a scene thrown in that has nothing to do with the storyline, of the family having a lighthearted water fight, more nonsense.

I had high hopes for this show, that it would break the mold of the typical episodic TV garbage, unfortunately the producers had other ideas & very little imagination.

This is Superman, the flagship of the DC catalogue, the main character of his own show reduced to a bit part punchbag, disrespected by his own family & resigned to the naughty step & ignored by all in favour of Lois being the real hero so the show can hold its head high for showing a strong woman, utter woke nonsense.

Gone is any attempt to show the uniqueness of this hero, he's mearly an afterthought amongst the far too many characters that overshadow him.

If this show were a comic it would be in the 10 ¢ent bargain bin.

Warning: Spoilers
Superman has been having some trouble with the processing machine; Edge tries to force him to submit it, then gives up. Lois calls Luthor that "It's happening." General Lane shows up at the Kent Farm on the whereabouts of Superman. Lois tells her that Edge has his own Fortress of Solitude. Luthor shows up to discuss with General Lane and Lois. Lois speculates on a rescue mission. Luthor states that there is only one hope - to take him down. Lois refuses with him. An argument happens between the three. General Lane tells Luthor that he has been developing super-weapons for his Project-7734 Project. The two discuss the super-weapons they created. Luthor tells an unlovely story on how he tried to use the super-weapon on his Superman. He somehow went through a wormhole through this Earth leading where he is. "It's like 1984 here." LOL. Lois talks to Sara's parents in private, asking them if they remember anything when they were controlled by the consciousness of the ancient Kryptonians. No clear answer, but negative feelings. Superman runs out of Edge's base and senses Jordan. Lois meets with Diggle, always great to have him back as always. The two argue with General Lane and Luthor on killing Superman. Jordan and his brother come to the base to tell Lois. The Sara Family finds a sign on their house saying: "Get out of Smallville" Lois talks to Luthor about how this world is different than his Superman destroying humanity, etc. Great emotional scene. It shows how strong Lois & Clark is. Diggle discusses with General Lane. The Sara Family cleans the sign. Superman is still fighting back. The Military finally finds the whereabouts of Superman & Edge. Jonathan talks to Edge about guilt. After this, Luthor is up against Superman. Found Two, motherfu- We get an epic fight. I am not going to lie though. But. Luthor's combat gear looks totally badass! The Military has lost audio and video.

Luthor confronts Superman on what might happen if he submits, he finally fights against it. Audio and video are back. Edge informs his father that his half-brother is gone. His father tells him that he must do what he has to do which was the main purpose why he was brought to Earth. Luthor uses his red rocket thing on Edge. Superman reconnects on Kent Farm reuniting with Lois and his two sons telling them that they did well. Luthor joins in telling that Edge is imprisoned. The only thing is; they have to find Edge's female assistant.

Thoughts?

Yet, the Brother dynamic never gets old. The tensions are getting hit, and I like it. I am loving the serious tone. Interesting settings throughout characters showing the effects of this impact which is well-explored. Awesome performances here. This episode couldn't get better without Diggle even though he had a little screentime. I do believe we will get more screentime of him in the upcoming episodes that have to come for us. I am glad we are getting more content of him after the final Arrow season which is a fact that I am really proud of.

It is great to see Jothahan interacting with Luthor. You can see he understands his guilt on losing his loved ones which is truly beautiful. At least we got some action in the last 20 minutes. I would have given it a 9/10, although a 9/10 is not bad. Lol. I like how forgiveness is the key here.

10/10.

It could have been worse
bill-dunham25 July 2021
Warning: Spoilers
A Flash episode would have had Lois and Clark convincing Morgan Edge of the importance of family and ended with him joining the Kents for a family dinner. And Lana's family would be welcomed back to the town with open arms.

This could have been the season finale
atjoseph21 July 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I enjoyed this episode and I enjoyed that irons had a change of heart to see Clark as a hero and I loved how Clark still fought to not turn shows that he doesn't want to become evil. But the ending felt like it could have been a good season finale and the episode after could have been a start to season two.

The power of family stops mind control
alan-5067314 July 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Superman is about to become evil and John Irons wants to do it like he has been so of course Lois calls him. He says he needs to kill Superman and Lois doesn't want that. So why did she call him when she already has her dad and apparently Argus to help stop Morgan Edge and Superman? Why doesn't John know Clark is Superman until Lois tells him? He's the same basic person, John. So now Irons gets that Superman isn't evil. Something he should have realized when our Superman wasn't trying to kill him from the beginning of this show. Why is John Diggle only there to tell John Irons not to kill a hero who's saved our world many times? John Diggle leaves after giving the military some technology to fight Superman. Lois dad assumes he will be evil and wants to kill him. Superman is fighting mind control the whole time and tells (Jordan, Morgan Edge is in the badlands. As if that helps narrow down where they are in a massive desert but of course Sam Lane has some convent technology to find him. Irons goes to fight superman wearing clunky armor suit that looks like a small version of Ironman first armor. He somehow has a chance fighting Superman who's being evil now but Superman doesn't just use heat vision to murder him. Irons has a communication device and Lois tells him not to kill Superman but her dad wants him to. John Irons decides to talk Superman down from MIND Control And because Superman has memories of his family he is no longer mind controlled. Unbelievable. This show does every cliche from other arrow verse shows and no one has a problem with this show doing that.
