Reminder

I just want people to remember that this show is based on 1994. So what they mention about the black coalition and moving up in the workforce wad a very hard thing for black people in thr fbi in the 90's.

Easy to mux the times. But this is a difference of 30 years

[7.2] Always watch your six

A dragging, but developing and thus good episode, a little better than the previous one. Yes, the real and entire purpose is still unclear and I hope they won't "extend" the plots till the last episode with some twists in each one, then that would be all for nothing.

Why oh why
jameskevinjunior5 March 2021
I felt I had to write as response because mikkibroncos gave this episode one star, "one star." Why? Because it included a topic about race in the work place like one needs to "force" race into any conversation at anytime in American history. They don't think there's any reason to address racism (subtle or otherwise) as if it didn't exist then. Let that sink. People are literally whining that racism existed before 2016, and this show had the "audacity" (in their minds) to capture it. It would be laughable if it weren't so sad and revealing.

Spare me the lesson in privilege.

I found the accusatory bias in this episode to be ridiculous. Emphasis of criminal investigations is on victims and perpetrators. The Machiavellian politics and obvious race baiting do not belong. They detract from the plot and ultimately make this episode unwatchable. Clarice shouldn't have to apologize for the opportunity to be successful, just because of her biologically determined skin pigmentation.

A hectoring, condescending after-school special for Black Lives Matter.
altereggo1236 March 2021
Ok, so it's called the Black Coalition or something, but why bother with fake names? When are shows going to stop trying to force political narratives into every episode? The lack of subtlety in this one is notable, even by today's low standards. I don't read political opinion sites for fictional crime stories. Why would I want to watch shallow political commentary in a TV drama? According to this episode, white people are hopeless and in denial and think only of themselves, their attempts to help others are clueless, and their empathy is just more evidence of privilege. Oh, and there is an unsolved murder somewhere in there.

So many wrong turns in the episode that it may be my last. No spoilers from me, though the show is being spoiled by hack scriptwriters.

Mehh

The roommate thing with the security guy turning into a racial thing.. of course we had to have that... at least we were able to see Clarice with her mouth shut when her boss showed her how selfish she was with the other case with all the "I" and rarely any "we" as in the team and not oneself. Luckily there was no whining and "oh I'm a woman and always right girll powerrrr"

Butthurt snowflakes gonna snowflake
david-344413 March 2021
Wow, reading these reviews is like going to a Butthurt White Snowflakes rally. I've never seen so many white people who can't handle having their privilege pointed out to them.

That said, this episode was dull, dull, dull. The story seems to be going nowhere, or at least moving so slowly as to appear motionless. The actors all appear bored, just reciting their lines with no effort behind it. The "mystery" is not in the least bit compelling. Most of all, the actress playing Clarice just isn't good, with her terrible accent and mediocre acting abilities.

Victims victims ..
rjjackson-171207 March 2021
Ok so I do like this show, I like the actors, think the woman playing Clarice managed to find that certain something, that appeals.

I liked the woman playing her roommate, she could act, there was again something that fit about her character.

So.. why oh why.. bring BLM agenda to it? Make her a victim..? There is no need, not to mention in the 90s BLM wasn't bandied around. Why make Clarice apologise for the pigment of her skin?? Are all people of colour now victims of the system..?? Should I now go around claiming I need an apology from all white people..?? This need to include BLM politics into shows if anything turns people off and is insulting to those actors of colour who can act and are doing a great job without it. If this carries on people will assume that the person of colour is there because of the colour of their skin as opposed to ability. Which is such a shame, as all the individuals in this show can act.. so for the love of God, leave out the lectures of racism and privilege and let the actors abilities speak for themselves..!!

I stopped watching another show because of this nonsense, don't make me stop with this one..

Lacked purpose
Calicodreamin12 March 2021
This episode had a decided lack of purpose. I guess the Vicap investigation was necessary but it disappeared into thin air and felt like a waste. Starling gets a stern talking to about going off on her own, and then she just decides to forgo all that and go off on her own. Annoying.

Terrible! This show won't go beyond the first season!
bdutzi10 March 2021
First of all, yes to bring back "Hannibal"! This show isn't even in the running in comparison to "Hannibal"; so disappointing! 90% of the casting was so far wrong; Kumar, are you kidding me. I'm sure he can do a serious role, but not that of an FBI agent. He is way too dorky looking and his voice is more than ridiculously dorky. The main character's attempt at her appropriate accent is just terrible over time. There are definitely racial equality undertones which aren't as relevant for this time period. Don't get me wrong, I am definitely an advocate of racial equality, but this is a try hard experience!

SJW ruin show
chrisgrasso-683773 June 2021
I havent watched cable tv much if at all in the last 4 years since streaming services got big. I was glued to this show the first 7-9 episodes. Ive decided to quit watching after ninth episode. Its a great series but every episode has had an increasing amount of racist baiting and social political influence shoved down the viewers throat. Its set in the early 90s and writers think its okay to throw controversial 2021 era politics into the show. Im not sure if its pandering or what but Im done watching Clarice. Im immensely disapointed at the waisted potential...

Just meh.
hawaiiiib18 March 2021
It's enough to keep you interested but by episode 5 I'm extremely annoyed. FBI agents are supposed to be some of the brightest of the bright yet the main character AND HER BOSS make stupid decisions. None that you'd expect from a real agent. The flashbacks and hallucinations water everything down and feel unnecessary but are shown in every episode.
