A limp season fizzles out.
Racingphan226 July 2021
Warning: Spoilers
First of all, I loved the scene with Lizzie and Doc in the hospital.

Otherwise, this muddled mess of a season limped to it's no where ending.

Episode was fine but,

More of a general tv complaint. How would Mel have had time to have a fertility consultation and an implantation appointment in LA in the super short time she and Jack had broken up? When she says he's not the father I'm assuming it's because somehow she was able to do IVF. I'm annoyed because it just seems improbable and getting pregnant from your first IVF is really rare.

Netflix again
taraangel-4096011 July 2021
I love this show, but the problem with this season is that nothing happened until the last episode. Who knows if there will be another season, and if there is, how long will we wait for it? Lame to leave everything until the last episode. It was kind of boring and then BAM! The other 2 seasons weren't like this, every episode had something.

Mel's pregnancy is too far fetched
cjw197622 July 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I am a huge fan and have really enjoyed series 3 but there are two things that irk me:

1) How can Mel go off for 2 days and come home impregnated with her dead husbands sperm? Surely it takes a series of hormone injections, consent forms etc etc. Completely far far fetched!

2) Jacks life is already complicated. It would have been lovely if Mel had accidentally got pregnant and then the next series he lives through the juggling act of twins, new baby, house build etc. Now on top of the already complicated story line, they have added a "who is the father?" twist. Ridiculous!

I also really wanted Brodie to run away with Brie and live happily ever after. Everyone deserves a 2nd chance!

Treading Water

I can only suppose that this series suffered a great deal from the pandemic. In the previous 2 series every episode a had a story for that show but it wasn't like that this time around. How was Jack running around after being shot like nothing had happened? I missed Hope but that was unfortunate and understandable. It might have been better to skip a year than to put this out with all the substance gone.

Just another soap
patrikfilipsson18 July 2021
I liked the first two seasons. Virgin River is supposed to be a place where you'd like to live. It does not matter that it does not happen a whole lot. The third season was a mess. Way too many dramatic events, one after the other. Characters acting like morons resulting in unnecessary conflicts. The season finale was a joke. I was looking forward to the third season. Not sure if I want to watch a fourth season. Maybe it turns out Mel husband is not dead or something else stupid.

Characters are getting dumb and boring
Zedyeti24 July 2021
Especially Charmaine. She's an idiot character with a terrible storyline that keeps getting dragged out. Mel compares everyone problems to her own and getting pregnant wtf haha. And the kid wanting to go into the marines... he would get eaten alive.

This show is turning into what I thought it might be... something you would see on the hallmark channel or lifetime.

Too many unresolved plot lines
fergusonjk112 July 2021
Warning: Spoilers
First of all, the title of the episode is misleading. There was no wedding, no baby, and what does "no funeral" mean? I understand the need for a cliffhanger or two at the end of the season, but this is ridiculous. And the plot lines receiving the most airtime were not even the most interesting ones, e.g., the business with Paige was very poorly developed and not at all clear. I find the characters and the setting of the show very interesting. I hope the scripts are better next season.

I'm not sure I'll watch season 4
drever0220 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Ok. I get it. Cliffhangers are there to make sure you're drawn in to watch the next show or season. But really? Every single storyline had a cliffhanger. It was so bad that at the end when Mel said "I'm not sure you're the father" I wanted to rip the TV off the wall. And what a stupid thing Mel did. It was very compulsive on her part. "Well Jack and I broke up so why don't I just go get knocked up with my dead husband's baby." It didn't seem to follow her character's personality. It's like suddenly she stopped being the thoughtful, mature person and became an impertinent teenager. This episode...this season...left me with more questions than answers and I don't know if I care to find the answers at all now.

What is happening?!
mbhbrh4 September 2023
Warning: Spoilers
1. Is Charmaine really pregnant? She met a guy and is engages in 3 weeks and married in 4 and seems to be almost content with him just taking over her life and that of the twins. I mean, Doc and Mel saw a positive test and ultrasound right? So why isn't she showing? And her morning sickness is just over?

2. Who the hell is Brie? She just showed up with a mysterious past (very soap opera-like), falls for the bad boy, is just this reserve character (almost there just to have a reason to have Brady on the screen).

3. Paige allegedly sends Christopher to Preacher (and good on him for taking him in no questions asked) but he's not at all questioning of the lady who brought him to her? Preacher never asks Christopher about the lady. He just over does the parenting duties, much to C's annoyance. I know he doesn't talk about Paige so as not to upset C but come on. And I take it he's just in the woods left to fight hypothermia?

4. Jack and Mel....everyone has talked about their annoying situation. They're like characters on any Lifetime or Hallmark movie that don't get out of their own way to be happy. But COME ON.....she goes to LA and gets IVF? When my daughter and I saw the positive test, I said, "That makes Jack look bad...two baby mommas just months apart." She said, "but remember her trip to LA?" I said, "Yeah...that's not how IVF works....she'd have to do hormone injections and testing and all kinds of things , not to mention NOT have sex. Nah....she's didn't do IVF." 🙄

5. And Vernon has a grandson? Let's go back a step...Vernon has a kid??

So Many Things Left Hanging
kevin-74322 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Let me start out by saying I really enjoyed the show, right up to Season 3's ending.

What happens to Hope?

Who shot Jack?

What happens to Jack & Mel?

I could go on and on. Loved the series, hated how it ended.

Descendend into a soap opera
sumitdhruv419920 March 2022
If such dumb writers are going to write the next two seasons then I would not watch them. Mel & Jack's story was needlessly laboured and was so bored. Don't know what this show want to be about. The grief is an important thing to show in media but not like this. Using it make narrative segway is just dumb.

This show is a soapie on speed
mumooshka2 August 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Crikey, I can hardly keep up

Even at a bloody funeral they're talking about their relationship woes as if there isn't a dead body around to be mourned.

Who writes this stuff? I can't keep up with the plot twists.

It looks like they wanted that people hate it
pkpera25 October 2021
OMG. This was really bad, bad ... First ep. Of season 3 started really messy, after short hospital fight for life scene it jumps in some kind of party, where Jack is completely healthy. It is called bad story telling. But in this case story is bad too.

I liked first 2 seasons, although it started to be repetitive, some characters really did not add anything (except filling ep. Time) . And third season was better after disappointing start, but final ep. - ehm.

Too many loose ends, or cliffhangers, and that with pregnancies was just too much. Some of involved should have it visible, like one who claimed that got pregnant 6 months ago. Lazy writing, dementic writing :-)

And what to expect in season 4 ? More tension between 2 main characters, more distance between Jack and twins ... Then more troubles with that older twin brother .... Does not look promising.

Terrible season
laurachatterton7 February 2022
I really enjoyed seasons 1-2 but this was terrible . Ridiculous over the top drama, forced steamy make out scenes constantly , characters thrown in out of nowhere with connections to others that doesn't make sense and feels forced. Hated this season .

This is like a daytime soap and not in a good way..
Linda-workerbee1 July 2022
Most night time drama are soaps. This isn't a particularly good one. Great cast, beautiful location, with lousy writing. I wanted to like this show. I was happy when we finally got season 3. From his ridiculous ex girlfriend to the Paige storyline, it's not believable. I think I'm out for season 4.
