Hollywood's trifecta of old guard directors -- Ridley Scott, Steven Spielberg, and Martin Scorsese -- occupy a unique position in the modern Hollywood landscape. They have more misses than hits at the box office these days, but their names carry so much prestige that studios are still handing over big budgets anyway. After all, you never know when Spielberg is going to make another "Ready Player One," or Scott another "The Martian," or Scorsese another "Wolf of Wall Street."
Enter Scorsese's historical crime drama "Killers of the Flower Moon," which was co-financed by Paramount Pictures and Apple Original Films to the tune of a $200 million production budget. Starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert De Niro, Jesse Plemons, and Lily Gladstone, the film rode into theaters this weekend on a wave of rave reviews. Variety reports that "Killers of the Flower Moon" is currently projected to finish its opening weekend with a total of $23 million from 3,628 theaters.

Warning: This article contains spoilers for the latest episode of "Loki."
To this point in "Loki" season 2, it's felt easier than expected to compartmentalize the series -- not just from connections to the greater Marvel Cinematic Universe, but also from the disturbing criminal allegations surrounding actor Jonathan Majors. Until episode 3, any trace of the villainous He Who Remains has been limited to foreboding statues at the Time Variance Authority. The opening shot of the entire season awkwardly opened on a close-up of this very image, in fact, which seemed to confirm previous statements that no reshoots took place following Majors' arrest. Otherwise, any trace of Kang's presence has remained hidden behind the curtain.
That all changed with this latest episode, however. Desperate to put the malfunctioning Tva back in order, Loki (Tom Hiddleston) and Mobius (Owen Wilson) follow the breadcrumbs left by Ravonna Renslayer (Gugu Mbatha-Raw) all the way...

By the time The Beatles recorded The White Album, the band was already becoming quite fractured personally and professionally. It was 1968, and the band’s most ambitious effort was the project, almost ending their partnership. The White Album was The Beatles’ ninth studio album and the only double LP they would ever record. But one moment in the studio led John Lennon to go “ballistic” on Paul McCartney, leading to a moment that would forever change one of their most iconic songs.
John Lennon ‘went ballistic’ on Paul McCartney during this one pivotal moment while recording ‘The White Album’
John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr recorded The White Album in mid-1968. The album features 30 songs, 19 of which were written during March and April 1968.
However, tensions between the bandmates heightened as the recording wore on. Lennon and McCartney couldn’t agree on the recording of several songs.

Ron Cephas Jones, the Emmy-winning actor best known for his role as William Hill in NBC's critically-acclaimed drama "This Is Us," has died at the age of 66. The news was confirmed by a representative for the actor, who released a statement to People attributing the "beloved and award-winning" actor's death to "a long-standing pulmonary issue." Jones had suffered from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (Copd) and received a double lung transplant in 2020.
Jones began his acting career on the stage before landing guest roles on "Law & Order" and "NYPD Blue." The '90s also saw him star in Bridgett M. Davis' indie movie "Naked Acts" and appear in Spike Lee's "He Got Game," but it was in 2016 that his star truly began to rise as he appeared in "Mr. Robot," "Luke Cage," "The Get Down," and, of course, "This Is Us."

It’s Barbie’s world, and we’re all just living in it. Greta Gerwig’s feature film, based on the 60-year-old Mattel toy doll that first made waves in 1959, ruled the box office in its opening weekend, raking in $162 million domestically. The feature film also marked records broken for its co-writer and director Greta Gerwig and its two main stars Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling. The collaboration between Warner Bros., LuckyChap Entertainment, Mattel Films and more also set new bars for the largest non-sequel, non-remake film in July. Overseas, Gerwig’s pink-plastered comedy has made its mark as well.
Combined, “Barbie and “Oppenheimer” (Aka “Barbenheimer”) has grossed more than $511 million worldwide, $235.5 million of which was domestic. Never before in Hollywood movie history have two films opened the same weekend at over $100 million (“Barbie”) and $50 million (“Oppenheimer”).

This summer brings a new adventure to theaters in the form of "Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny" (watch the new trailer here). Along with the sequel that marks Harrison Ford's last outing as Dr. Henry Jones Jr., we're getting a whole new line-up of merchandise inspired by both the new movie and Indy's classic adventures. We've already seen some new Lego sets coming to shelves, and now there's a full roster of Funko POPs and a couple of cool new Loungefly bags inspired by the original Indiana Jones trilogy.
Whether you're a fan of the original "Raiders of the Lost Ark," the prequel "Temple of Doom," or the concluding chapter of the original trilogy, "The Last Crusade," you'll find something that belongs on your shelf. Sadly, if you're a fan of "Kingdom of the Crystal Skull," you're out of luck for now, but I can't imagine anyone...

Stevie Nicks dated several members of the Eagles, but before those relationships, the singer said she and Lindsey Buckingham loved the band’s music. Here’s which Eagles song Nicks said inspired her and Buckingham before they even joined Fleetwood Mac.
Stevie Nicks | Gregg DeGuire/WireImage Stevie Nicks was in a relationship Lindsey Buckingham before dating several members of the Eagles
Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks were in a relationship when they joined Fleetwood Mac. Their acrimonious breakup inspired some of the band’s greatest hits, including “Dreams,” “Go Your Own Way,” and “Silver Springs.”
Nicks went on to date the Eagles’ drummer and vocalist Don Henley. She had an affair with Fleetwood Mac drummer Mick Fleetwood while in a relationship with Henley. But she managed to remain friends with the Eagles star, and years after their breakup, they released the duet “Leather and Lace.”

Stevie Nicks is known for her signature witchy style and dated several members of the Eagles, but she did not inspire their song “Witchy Woman.” Here’s what the Fleetwood Mac star said about wishing she was behind the Eagles track and who Don Henley said inspired the music.
Stevie Nicks | Rob Verhorst/Redferns Stevie Nicks dated Don Henley and other members of the Eagles, but did not inspire ‘Witchy Woman’
Fleetwood Mac singer Stevie Nicks developed her signature witchy look of flowing black gowns and draping shawls, topped off with hats and a gold crescent moon necklace. She also dated several members of the Eagles, making her seem like the obvious inspiration behind their 1972 song “Witchy Woman.” But the Fleetwood Mac star had nothing to do with the track.

This post contains spoilers for "The Mandalorian" season 3, episode 6.
We are rapidly approaching the conclusion of "The Mandalorian" season 3 on Disney+, and the sixth episode, titled "Guns for Hire," did some real work in setting up a grand finale for Din Djarin, Bo-Katan Kryze, and the rest of the Mandalorians as they look to reclaim their homeworld of Mandalore. But this episode took some pretty unique detours en route to getting the Darksaber back in Bo-Katan's hands. The cold open of the episode told a tale of forbidden love in short order, while also bringing us an obscure little connection to the Marvel Cinematic Universe along the way — though you'd be forgiven for not catching it the first time around.

The Beatles were honest about their drug use, with Paul McCartney reflecting on its impact on fans. Here’s what the songwriter said — and why he thinks it wouldn’t “make a difference” to listeners.

Even before the Beatles sparked “Beatlemania,” the Fab Four consumed “slimming pills” to stay awake during long gigs.
As they became more popular, the Beatles explored psychedelics. This first began when a friend added LSD to his and Harrison’s drinks. Although he was initially shocked, Lennon returned to the substance.
“In the following months, John took LSD regularly,” Cynthia Lennon wrote in her memoir John. “He was hungry for new experiences and never afraid to experiment. George had found it fascinating, too, and he also took it again,...

Since I picked "The Bear" last time and got cheeky with "Scariest Scene Ever," this week I return to more traditional roots. A finger-lickin' American horror classic. Tobe Hooper's "The Texas Chain Saw Massacre" introduced Leatherface to the masses, and kickstarted one of the genre's most erratic slasher franchises. There are a few sequences that horror fans might choose as the scariest from the film, but one too iconic not to honor. We'll get there shortly.

Guitar maestro Jeff Beck played alongside many notable musicians during his life. Jimi Hendrix wasn’t one of them. Beck’s brand of classic rock saw him briefly share the Yardbirds with Jimmy Page, add Rod Stewart and Ronnie Wood to his namesake band, and form a surprising friendship with Johnny Depp. Beck called Hendrix trouble and then witnessed him “put the final nail” in his coffin as the dominant guitar god of the era after Hendrix arrived in England.
(l-r) Jeff Beck; Jimi Hendrix | Ebet Roberts/Getty Images; Michael Ochs Archives/Getty Images Jimi Hendrix found a receptive audience for his music in England
With The Beatles bending musical norms, the Yardbirds twisting American blues into something psychedelic, and The Rolling Stones coming into their own, the English music scene in the mid-1960s was a cauldron of creation.
Then Jimi Hendrix entered the picture and blew up the frame.

"Everything Everywhere All At Once" is unlike anything else you will ever see in your life — it is a mind-melting movie about the multiverse that balances itself with equal parts chaos and compassion. Malaysian actress Michelle Yeoh illustrates her ability to personify emotional complexity along with showcasing her talent for martial arts in the film, starring as Evelyn, a Chinese immigrant who gets embroiled in a multiversal war. Yeoh's character work and penchant for action in the movie are astonishing. The actress has always been a martial arts star in her own right, but in this A24 film written by Daniels -- Daniel Kwan, and Daniel Scheinert -- Yeoh embodies her character so impossibly well you forget she's a veteran global superstar.

The next film from director Alexander Payne called “The Holdovers” and starring Paul Giamatti was acquired in a worldwide deal by Focus Features after the film screened in secret at the Toronto International Film Festival, going in the range of 30 million, an individual with knowledge of the project told TheWrap.
The film, which reunites the team from Payne’s “Sideways,” screened on Sunday at TIFF but not as part of a public screening or official selection. All major streamers and studios attended the “Holdovers” screening. The deal is one of the largest of its kind out of Toronto, no less for a film not even playing as part of the festival. The deal also comes as the TIFF market has been slow — or nearly non-existent — on other major acquisitions through the first four days of the festival.
