George Miller has revealed his plans for a second Mad Max prequel – one that will take place between the events of this year’s Furiosa and 2015’s Fury Road.
Mere weeks before Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga rolls noisily into cinemas, director George Miller has revealed his plans for another prequel. This one, he says, will take place after his latest film but shortly before the events of 2015’s Mad Max: Fury Road.
The idea for the second prequel emerged in a similar way to Furiosa: while making Mad Max: Fury Road, Miller and his collaborators wrote up backstories for all his characters in order to help his actors get into their roles; those backstories in turn eventually led to the screenplay for Furiosa.
The untitled prequel hasn’t been turned into a script yet, Miller says in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, but indicates that work on it could begin soon.

George Miller’s Mad Max franchise has been around for ages in the form of films, games, and comics. A part of popular culture already, its popularity further exploded when Mad Max: A Fury Road was released in 2015, three decades after the last film. Starring Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron in the lead, it is one of the best-ranked movies of the entire saga.

Taking the tale even further (or rather backward), the next Mad Max movie will be a prequel exploring the origins of Furiosa. And Geroge Miller recently revealed that he has a prequel planned that would bring back Hardy.

Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga serves as a prequel to Mad Max: Fury Road; In fact, director George Miller has said that the movie will “butt up directly into Fury Road,” so what does that mean for Max Rockatansky?
Miller has previously said that Max is “lurking there in the background” of Furiosa, but he provided more detail on this “blink-and-you’ll-miss-it cameo” while speaking with Entertainment Weekly. The director confirms that Max and his car, the Interceptor, will appear in the prequel. “In doing what we did in the preparation of Mad Max: Fury Road, we also wrote what happened to Max in the year before we encounter him in [that film],” Miller said. “And as we get towards the end of this movie, the chronology… Basically, we had to see that Mad Max was lurking around somewhere because we do know what happened.” It sounds as though the Mad Max...

Chris Hemsworth is quite happy about not playing the hero in George Miller’s upcoming “Mad Max: Fury Road” prequel movie “Furiosa.” The action tentpole casts Hemsworth as the villainous Dementus, a sociopathic warlord who steals the title character from her home as a child. It’s a far cry from his Marvel superhero Thor, who Hemsworth has played in four standalone movies and several more “Avengers” films. That’s precisely why the actor was hungry for the part.
“Yeah, it was a real departure, and it was nice. … I was about to say it was nice not to wear a cape, but… I did have a cape in this film,” Hemsworth recently told Entertainment Weekly. “And it’s red — or it becomes red eventually, as well. The absurdity of that.”

The actor has played Thor in 4 solo movies and several Avengers movies. We all know that Tom Hiddleston, who plays Loki, also auditioned for the character. But did you know Chris’ brother Liam was also one of the contenders?

Robert Downey Jr. thinks highly of one of his Avengers co-stars who had a much more difficult time figuring out his character in the initial stages of the MCU. Downey Jr. shared that Hemsworth’s character was a lot trickier to adapt than his billionaire playboy superhero, Chris Evans’ no-nonsense Cap, or Scarlett Johansson’s badass S.H.I.E.L.D. agent. Being a God figure, Hemsworth and the director of the first film, Kenneth Branagh, had to balance the character’s complex psyche.

"Mad Max: Fury Road" is one of the best movies of all time — according to /Film — a masterpiece of action cinema and a masterclass in visual storytelling. It is also a bit of a live-action cartoon. Like the best live-action directors, George Miller pulls inspiration from "Looney Tunes" as much as he does live-action movies in making his post-apocalyptic epic, with a sense of logic, physics, pacing, and fun that feels more outlandish than grounded.
But before the movie came out and became a big hit and an Oscar winner, it went through development hell for literal decades, only to go through actual hell during filming. Development took so long and suffered so many setbacks that Miller looked at alternatives to "Fury Road," including telling a completely different story in animated form. Indeed, we know that in 2009 — between two "Happy Feet" movies — Miller considered making an R-rated 3D "Mad Max" anime instead,...

Ostensibly a big-screen reboot of the 1980s television series of the same name, “The Fall Guy” is actually director and former stunt performer David Leitch’s love letter to both his wife, producer Kelly McCormick, and the undersung art of stunt work — only not always in that order.
Working closely with screenwriter and executive producer Drew Pearce, who previously scripted his “Fast and the Furious” spinoff “Hobbs & Shaw,” Leitch creates a clearinghouse of gobsmacking stunts (some truly record-breaking) while chronicling the tumultuous relationship between veteran stunt man Colt Seavers (Ryan Gosling) and first-time director Jody Moreno (Emily Blunt). It’s quick-witted (and quick-footed) fun that bridges multiple generations of Hollywood moviemaking, melding together rom-coms and bombastic action into one blockbuster package.
Since making his screenwriting debut on Shane Black’s “Iron Man 3,” Pearce has developed an aptitude for conceiving stories that maintain a singular yet cohesive tonal balance.

Chris Hemsworth is sharing his thoughts and some regrets about his portrayal of Thor in Taika Waititi’s Love and Thunder.
“I got caught up in the improv and the wackiness, and I became a parody of myself,” he said in a new profile for Vanity Fair. “I didn’t stick the landing.”
Hemsworth also expressed frustration and dissatisfaction with the character that he played across eight films between 2011 and 2022.
“Sometimes I felt like a security guard for the team,” Hemsworth told Vanity Fair. “I would read everyone else’s lines, and go, Oh, they got way cooler stuff. They’re having more fun.”
“What’s my character doing? It was always about, ‘You’ve got the wig on. You’ve got the muscles. You’ve got the costume. Where’s the lighting?’ ” he added. “Yeah, I’m part of this big thing, but I’m probably pretty replaceable.”

Chris Hemsworth graces the cover of Vanity Fair’s May 2024 issue, where he revealed that he feels Marvel fans deserve another “Thor” movie after the whiff that was 2022’s “Thor: Love and Thunder.” The actor already admitted to GQ last year that his fourth standalone “Thor” movie was “too silly” for its own good, but the misstep appears to continue to haunt him.
“I got caught up in the improv and the wackiness, and I became a parody of myself,” Hemsworth told Vanity Fair. “I didn’t stick the landing.”
While Hemsworth has always been grateful for his career-defining role as Thor, he admitted to the publication that he grew frustrated with the character while playing him in four standalone Marvel films and additional “Avengers” movies.

Given the state of the world around us today, it's not surprising that people are interested in post-apocalyptic settings. After all, you never know what skills or niche knowledge might save your life one day!
In all seriousness, though, post-apocalyptic scenarios can be a lot of fun. Packed with action, high stakes, and suspense, they keep viewers on the edge of their seats. Unfortunately, it's not easy to find a movie or TV series that does justice to the genre and doesn't rely on the same repetitive clichés.

George Miller’s Mad Max: Fury Road spent so much time in development that its previous star, Mel Gibson, seemingly got too old for the action role. Gibson was replaced by Tom Hardy in the 2015 film, which went on to become one of the greatest action films of all time. Fans always wondered whether the Og Max Rockatansky would meet with the new one in any of the future installments. Miller confirmed that it wouldn’t happen and had a perfectly valid reason for it.

For decades, the Mad Max franchise has brought the outer reaches of chaos and imagination within the audience’s reach. From the brain of George Miller was born an apocalyptic wasteland that can neither be defined as dysfunctional nor dystopian since Mad Max has always existed within a framework of structured madness.

With Imperators, War Boys, Crow Fishers, and Buzzards populating and running wild on the wasteland, the world of Mad Max is devoid of limits. As such, to continue to explore such a world would mean breaking down its mystical elements and essentially making it redundant. The best solution in such a scenario is to quit while one’s still ahead and keep the legacy of Mel Gibson, George Miller, Charlize Theron, and Tom Hardy intact.

As far as iconic franchises go, George Miller’s Mad Max films are right up there among Hollywood’s favorite film series. Similar to his namesake George Lucas and his brainchild Star Wars, Miller created the dystopian action series back in 1979 with Mel Gibson, which was followed by three successful sequels in the 80s.

The franchise returned with a bang in 2015 with Mad Max: Fury Road starring Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron. Now, the Lorenzo’s Oil director has roped in one of Hollywood’s big draws Anya Taylor-Joy along with Chris Hemsworth for the upcoming Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga. Interestingly, this film has been in the making for many years , and was almost developed into an anime feature.

Anya Taylor-Joy fights the world in George Miller’s hotly anticipated Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, the upcoming prequel to Mad Max: Fury Road that’s coming next month.
Warner Bros.’ Furiosa has been rated “R” this week for…
“Sequences of strong violence, and grisly images.”
Furiosa will release in theaters on May 24, 2024. The film will tell the origin story of the character Charlize Theron made famous in Fury Road, also directed by George Miller.
“As the world fell, young Furiosa is snatched from the Green Place of Many Mothers and falls into the hands of a great Biker Horde led by the Warlord Dementus. Sweeping through the Wasteland they come across the Citadel presided over by the Immortan Joe. While the two Tyrants war for dominance, Furiosa must survive many trials as she puts together the means to find her way home.”
Chris Hemsworth co-stars as Warlord Dementus.

Post Malone, Vault Comics and Michael Bay and Brad Fuller’s Platinum Dunes have partnered to create an all-new IP universe based on an original story by the recording artist.
Blending elements of road thrillers like “Mad Max: Fury Road” and demonic horror like “Evil Dead,” Malone’s story is set in medieval Europe, where the only thing standing in the way of the horde of demons infesting the continent is a mysterious armored 18-wheeler seemingly sent back from the heavens.
“I’m so pumped to share this badass story with the world, and I couldn’t ask for better partners than Michael Bay and Vault to help bring this story to life,” says Malone.
Working closely with Malone, Vault will launch the story first as a graphic novel, set for publication in 2025. Meanwhile, Post Malone, Platinum Dunes and Vault will concurrently develop a feature film adaptation.

Between appearing in a minor role for Doug Liman’s Road House, singing alongside Taylor Swift on the chart-topping hit “Fortnight,” and making history with the first-ever RIAA-certified Double-Diamond single, everything is coming up Milhouse for Post Malone. Not content to rest on his laurels, Malone is partnering with Michael Bay, Brad Fuller’s Platinum Dunes, and Vault Comics to create an all-new IP universe based on an original idea from the unstoppable auto-tune-loving artist.
According to Deadline, Malone’s idea is inspired by George Miller’s beloved thriller Mad Max: Fury Road and demonic horror films like Evil Dead. This continues a hot streak for Post Malone, who recently made history with the first ever RIAA-certified Double-Diamond single, mesmerized audiences with his pre-Super Bowl performance of “America the Beautiful” and had a role in Amazon MGM Studios’ Road House, which was the most viewed original film launch ever on Prime Video.

In a candid interview with Total Film, producer Doug Mitchell disclosed an interesting titbit about the upcoming Mad Max: Fury Road prequel movie, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga.
In the interview, Mitchell revealed that the groundwork for Furiosa‘s narrative was laid 15 years ago. The script was even completed before the critically-acclaimed Fury Road.
But here’s the real kicker: the initial vision for Furiosa was wildly different. Originally titled The Peach, it was planned as an anime film to be directed by Mahiro Maeda, known for his contributions in a number of anime films, from Neon Genesis Evangelion to Studio Ghibli films such as Porco Rosso and Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind.
However, the trajectory of Furiosa took a surprising turn, pivoting from its anime origins to emerge as a live-action film.

The 2024 Cannes Film Festival lineup was finally revealed at the sliver of dawn on Thursday, April 11. Festival director Thierry Frémaux and president Iris Knobloch unveiled this year’s crop of films across the many sections, from the Competition to Un Certain Regard, during a press conference beginning at 5 a.m. Et. See the full lineup below.
The 77th edition of Cannes comes to the Côte d’Azur May 14 through 25, and a few titles were already confirmed to be in the mix. There’s Francis Ford Coppola’s self-funded epic “Megalopolis,” which has already screened for a rarified few in the United States to much awe and speculation over what distributor might take on Coppola’s experimental vision. For his first feature since 2011’s “Twixt,” Coppola gathered a cast including Adam Driver, Nathalie Emmanuel, Shia Labeouf, Giancarlo Esposito, Aubrey Plaza, and Jason Schwartzman for a sci-fi vision of a ruined NYC-like metropolis.

Mad Max prequel Furiosa contains a 15 minute-long action scene that was so complex, it took 78 days to shoot, it’s been revealed.
The production of Furiosa doesn’t appear to have been quite as arduous as Mad Max: Fury Road's, but that doesn’t mean director George Miller has reigned in his appetite for big, complex action sequences.
In fact, producer Doug Mitchell has teased that the upcoming Mad Max prequel – full title Furiosa: A Mad Max Story – contains a 15-minute vehicular action scene that took 78 days to shoot and took in 200 stunt performers.
It’s a production detail revealed in the latest issue of Total Film, in which it was revealed that the action scene was dubbed on-set as “Stairway To Nowhere.”
If Furiosa follows the usual storytelling structure, it sounds as though the set-piece will land in the middle of the upcoming film which stars Anya Taylor-Joy...

George Miller has pushed the “Mad Max” franchise to new levels of spectacle with each film, but the Australian might have topped himself with an action sequence in the upcoming “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga.”
Miller’s new “Mad Max: Fury Road” prequel, which is set to premiere at the Cannes Film Festival next month, stars Anya Taylor-Joy as a younger version of the titular character made famous by Charlize Theron. The film is based on the extensive backstory about Furiosa that Miller created to help his “Fury Road” cast and crew members immerse themselves in the film’s world.
While the massive success of “Fury Road” would be a hard act for any filmmaker to follow, Miller’s collaborators seem convinced that he found a way to match the scale of his Oscar-winning 2015 film. In a new feature in Total Film magazine, Miller’s producing partner Doug Mitchell revealed...

Prime Video’s Fallout TV show took the best pages out of other successful shows’ books: filming on location is always better than using those pesky green screens. The Wasteland in the new post-apocalyptic series is stunning, and to some fans, it looked vaguely familiar — but that’s only because it should be. After all, Fallout wasn’t this filming location’s first rodeo.
Fallout Found Its Perfect Wasteland
Even if Jonathan Nolan wanted to create the most authentic Fallout experience, he would not have been allowed to explode a real nuclear bomb to recreate the Wasteland, just like his practical effects-obsessed brother Christopher wasn’t allowed to for Oppenheimer, so the Fallout creator opted for the second best thing.
To film the Wasteland, the crew and cast headed deep into Namibia’s Namib Desert, far away from any civilization. Remember that ghost town from the show? It looked so...

Apparently, there’s a 15-minute scene in “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga” that took more than 75 days to film and hundreds of stunt people to pull off.
“[‘Furiosa’] has one 15-minute sequence which took us 78 days to shoot” producer Doug Mitchell revealed in an interview with Total Film about the film, which is set to land in theaters on May 24. The production named the sequence “Stairway to Nowhere.”
“George [Miller] and I would have these big conversations about why this particular set-piece was so long,” actress Anya Taylor-Joy, who plays a younger version of Charlize Theron’s Imperator Furiosa in the film, agreed. The short scene not only took a hefty amount of days to shoot, it also required over 200 stunt people.
Taylor-Joy said the scene provides viewers with a detailed and visual explanation of how talented, knowledgeable and clever Furiosa is in battle-mode.

Mad Max: Fury Road was a symphony of well-choreographed, thrilling action, but Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga will hopefully give it a run for its money. I have faith that director George Miller will deliver the action goods, but if you need a tease, Miller’s producing partner Doug Mitchell told Total Film that Furiosa has a 15-minute action sequence, which took almost three months to shoot.
Mitchel teased that Furiosa “has one 15-minute sequence which took us 78 days to shoot,” with nearly 200 stunt people working on it each and every day. The sequence was known as Stairway to Nowhere during production and is said to mark a turning point for Furiosa.

Few films hitting theaters in 2024 have more hyped-up horsepower behind them than “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga.” And there’s good reason for that: George Miller‘s prequel to 2015’s “Mad Max: Fury Road” has a tough act to follow. “Fury Road” is one of the greatest action movies ever, a modern classic that’s part tour de force, part technical marvel, part pulpy sublime.

In 2016, George Miller came back to his cult franchise, Mad Max, at 70 years old and accomplished a major feat that amazingly put younger action directors in their place. With Mad Max: Fury Road, Miller was able to make an epic-scale, high-budgeted version of his wasteland fairy tale with some of the most eye-popping action sequences seen in some time. The sequel featured a new character played by Charlize Theron and Anya Taylor-Joy now embodies her for Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga. Gu Xiaogang knows firsthand the impact that international film festivals can have.

He took his film to Bjiff’s project market and he walked away with the funds he needed after impressing investors with his story — an intimate look at a family’s life as it evolves across one year — along with his languid style.
The international film world has since felt much the same. For those like myself, who adore witnessing Anya Taylor-Joy grace the scene in enchanting gowns adorned with flowing fabrics and soft pastel hues, it’s time to prepare for a shift.
She’s undergoing a style metamorphosis, embracing a fusion of ethereal textures and an all-black aesthetic.

Lately, Anya has been gravitating towards a darker palette, likely influenced by her role in her upcoming movie, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, which will hit theaters on May 24.
In this film, she embodies the titular character Imperator Furiosa, a member of a motorcycle horde and a younger iteration of the role Charlize Theron portrayed in 2015’s Mad Max: Fury Road.

With Dune: Part Two and Civil War in theaters, it’s already been a great year for sci-fi, and that doesn’t even count goofball flicks like Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire, Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, or any other movies with the word “empire” in the title. Sure, it’s not all perfect. Bong Joon-ho’s Mickey 17, starring Robert Pattinson, has been pulled from the release schedule and there’s no way that Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse will release this year. In 2016, George Miller’s Mad Max: Fury Road made a big splash at the Oscars claiming six Academy Awards from the astonishing 10 nominations. When George Miller takes “Furiosa” to Cannes next month, it will be one of the biggest action films to hit the Croisette since the last time he took a “Mad Max” movie to the iconic festival. Miller’s groundbreaking blockbuster “Mad Max: Fury Road” was an instant hit when it premiered at Cannes in 2015, and his new prequel film promises to further expand the mythology by providing an origin story for Charlize Theron’s Furiosa, who is now played by Anya Taylor-Joy.
Finding more stories to tell about Furiosa was a simple task for Miller, who had already come up with an abundance of them while working on “Fury Road.” Speaking at CinemaCon this week (via Deadline), Miller explained that he wrote out new backstories for the characters of Hardy’s Max and Theron’s Furiosa for the cast and crew in the form of a full screenplay and novella before filming the 2015 franchise reboot.

The character of Tom Ripley first appeared in Patricia Highsmith's 1955 novel "The Talented Mr. Ripley," a salacious story about a con man who is hired to locate an old school chum named Dickie Greenleaf but who ends up becoming obsessed with him, killing him, and supplanting him. Ripley is not a charming con man, but he is staggeringly clever and possesses a talent for subterfuge. He's also driven by his baser desires, unable to resist pursuing the women and men he lusts after (Ripley is likely bisexual) or stealing the money he so desperately wants. Each time, Ripley gets away with it, as evidenced by the fact that he starred in five novels published through to 1991.
