The Weapon
tristan_1917 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This was a great set up for the end of the season. The ending was sad with Annie and Hughie. The Soldier Boy twist was expected, but extremely well executed nonetheless. You feel bad for certain characters in this one. A-Train has his own antagonist now. The fights have become personal for a lot of the characters.

It felt like the end of Season 1 with Hughie's decision to follow Butcher and leave Starlight. The dynamics are interesting and some people may flip flop soon. Maeve has her own moment to shine, but Noir and Homelander have other plans. Ashley struggles, Kimiko's voice is coming back slowly. But I have a bad feeling now, because Nina has Frenchie in the palm of her hand. Now that Kimiko's power is gone, it feels doomed.

Weird to see there's only three episodes left. It feels like the season is just beginning.

This Season is brilliant
hoehnandi17 June 2022
I am so hooked, incredible. The show keeps getting better and better Every single charackter is interesting, the coices they make feel organic, the drama isn't forced.

Season 2 bored me in the beginning but season 3 has been so good till now.

The show is unpredictable, the writing and dialouges are great and everybody puts in an incredible performance.

I really can see the Boys in my Top 5 Tv Series of all time if it keeps up the momentum.

The Episode is a strong 9 in my opinion.

Absolutely diabolically brilliant

This episode was so well made, characters, plot, suspense, intensity. It just worked so well. You both do and don't want to root for certain characters and it's just so well done.

Jensen Ackles is the one that we needed in the show
niloofar-shadow1417 June 2022
Such an amazing episode. It got me good from the begining. All the tortures SoldierBoy has been through for 30 years. He has a right to take down all his team members. We were suppoesed to hate SB but after what happened to him i just feel sorry for him. And Jensen did a great job. He made SB a character you love and afraid of him at the same time.

Putting a line in the sand
latheal-351-13390418 June 2022
Season 3's quality overall has been ridiculously high and yet it's this quieter episode that is probably the best of the season and maybe the entire season. What the Boys does better than most other shows is it's characterization. Practically all of the characters are perfectly cast; the various relationships and underlying motivations between them are always understandable if not agreeable. The show gets attention for its "shock" value & pushing the boundaries of what's acceptable but none of that would matter without the exceptional writing and acting that accompanies each episode.

Those spamming the reviews with "woke" & "lefty" criticism are just absolutely missing the point. Like Game of Thrones before it, The Boys characters and plot thrives on the fact that all the characters are fallible. This episode drives that home with some character choices that may have long lasting repercussions and genuinely heart wrenching advancements.

The whole theme of "how far do you go?" Which has been there since season 1 is laid out in simple choices. But it's the relationships those choices will change that is the power of this episode. The power comes from the writing and the characters whose journey we've shared - allowing the series to provide situations where you agree with every point of view even though they reside on the opposite sides of the line. It's wonderful writing, acting and TV.

Not since Thrones has a show provided such an ensemble with such character development. Like Thrones, the result is you give a damn about those characters - whether good, bad or something in between.

Yes, there's obvious political parallels - but I don't see it as the left being treated any better than the right and that's the point of the satire. In fact, watching some of the more obvious mirrors of recent events makes it even more absurd when it you remember some of the conspiracy theories were really claimed in the world we live in.

Take away the powered individuals and it's a reflection of our media sponsored current existence. Some of us may not like it or agree with it but that probably says more about you than it does the show. If that's you, try looking at how it's portraying the other "side" once in a while. There's no shining lights here, or actual heroes. Even Starlight, the supposedly "honorable" one is lying to the masses and enhancing the lie.

Wonderful show. And this episode nails everything that is great about it.

Soldier Boy
readonly-2620418 June 2022
All I can say is holy hell! Ackles knocks it out of the park. Urban and Ackles, powerful chemistry. Wait for the next episode this is turning out to be one of the most exciting seasons of the boys.

I will say, one of the best things about this all is finding out how much of a snowflake the right turn into when truth and satire are written exceptionally (which, spoiler-all comics are a commentary on politics and"civil" society) it really, really piss off the conservatives and gets them all angry. Hilarious. Great bonus from a great show.

SOLDIER BOY!
JoshReviewsFilms12317 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
What an amazing episode. All the story lines had a lot of depth and detail and expanded the story even more. First time seeing Solider Boy in action was amazing to see and I can't wait to see more of him. Probably one of the best episodes of the season and I can't wait for Herogasm next week. The writers are doing an amazing job so far with the new season.

Stakes and emotions are rising
mutaz-6495317 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Another solid episode from an incredibly promising season of television.

Stakes are rising as Homelander gains full control of Vought. And oh boy, every scene with this guy is so chilling this season. He seems to be gaining full control of everything. Deep, A-Train, and Black Noir have become his minions, while he basically became CEO of Vought through Ashley. Yet, you can still sympathize with these characters since Homelander is so powerful and scary. That's what I love about the Boys. You can sympathize with most of the characters' viewpoints.

The same goes for the boys themselves, as conflict arises between them, and Butcher and Hughie are willing to take drastic actions for their personal goals. This results in Hughie and Starlight's relationship to fall apart which I found to be very heart shattering.

ALSO WHAT HAPPENED TO MAEVE??

Overall, very solid episode with very emotional payoff that is setting up an explosive conclusion to the season.

Politics? Really?
flaughmark20 June 2022
I'm not talking about the show, but some of the comments on here.sure the show has a political motif, but happily IMHO it says every side is a fanatic. So I'm cool with it. No one in the series is sane with the exception of Starlight. So I'm cool with that. As far as the shock value of envelop pushing, I don't care one way or the other. It probably ads texture to the series, and some people may like it, but if it doesn't help out the plot or ad to the story, it's just fluff, nothing more nothing less.again (MHO). I like the show because of the characters, story, acting and it's really entertaining.

BTW, I am a conservative who really has no problem with this show. If I did I wouldn't watch it, but bringing politics in when everyone or a lot of us just needs a place to leave politics behind, and enjoy a good program isn't too much to ask for is it?

Only myself to blame I suppose, I made the error of being curious of other peoples insight to the show.

Who do we root for? Every character is amazing!
lovemichaeljordan17 June 2022
The show keeps getting better! There are so many great characters in this show. It's impossible to choose which side to root for. Homelander, Soldier Boy and Butcher are great! They are all bad men, but their characters are just too cool and compelling you can't wait to see more.

Homelander storyline is starting to get thin
michiganave_p20 June 2022
The first four episodes of this season have been great, but the story is starting to get a little thinner than I thought it would.

I have no idea how Homelander keeps getting more and more unchecked power in a shady stockholding multinational conglomerate, especially when he's a product of that said conglomerate.

From the end of episode of 4 with Stan Edgar voted out, right into Ashley Barrett as CEO (not sure how that actually is a thing) to Homelander a part of board, it didn't make much sense. The world doesn't work like that, especially a Disney they are making fun of.

Basically, there's a thicker story they could have wrote here. We still don't know who the Chairman of Vought is (Edgar was the CEO), the stockholders of Vought, etc., all of the people outside of The Boys who can stop Homelander. I mean, he literally went from zero to in control of the world's most powerful company like nothing.

Not sure how things are going to be handled from here on out, but it's getting odd.

Crazy episode but seemed a bit forced
MonkeyonMars19 July 2022
This episode and this season in general so far seems a bit forced with some of it's scenarios. Some of the talking points and character lines seemed almost copy and pasted from 2020 political discourse. It's extremely on the nose unlike the previous 2 seasons. I'm not political but it's obviously a bit one sided. Hopefully the other episodes aren't like this one. I know die hards are gonna down vote this, but I implore you to be objective and not emotional about it.

Oh yeah, it's all coming together
kalelwhistler17 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
...or completely falling apart,I guess we'll see. Kimiko got what she wanted, for her powers to be gone. Her and Frenchie's relationship finally becoming of the romantic nature. Soldier Boy is now on our side, hoping that he doesn't turn on The Boys, cause a Homelander and Soldier Boy team up that would be terrifying. And I think we're building up to a redemption arc from A-Train, all it took was his brother becoming paralyzed but oh well...I'm curious to see what role he'll play from now on.

By The Heroes and Villains...
robotintroverted17 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This episode was diabolical! Where to even start? The Boys accidentally let a nuclear weapon loose in Russia, and it's their job to try and find them. However, because of what happened last episode, not many people are with Butcher anymore. MM is very close to snapping, Hughie is very addicted to the V, and Butcher is willing to do whatever it takes to take down Homelander.

I think the subplot with Kimiko was amazing. However, I don't think her powers being gone is permanent. I think she will regain her powers in a few days or so. I think the musical scenes with her we're amazing as well, it's a very creative way of showing what she wants in life, and showing her child like innocence.

I think the humour this episode was amazing, that scene where Butcher just burst into the room and tackled the woman was hilarious, and I hope there are more scenes to come like that.

The morally gray stuff with Hughie is just awful, he wants to feel power, and abandons Starlight when she needed him. Butcher is teaming up with Soldier Boy, just so he can end Homelander. However, I think he might be replacing one problem with a bigger one. The whole V stuff is dangerous, but I can understand both sides, which is why it's hard to pick a side. But I definitely think that youre not meant to side with Butcher, although there is no wrong answer in this, because both sides pose good arguments, but both sides have their flaws too.

I think this is a great setup episode for the next episode, which is where things will probably get messed up. I've been loving this season so far, and I can't wait for Herogasm!

Overall, 9/10!

it's satire, angry republicans
FilmBrat10517 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This episode was good, and quite frankly the whole season has been superb so far. Ackles has been phenomenal as Soldier Boy and I'm buzzing to see him finally face off against Homelander. However, I was disappointed to see Crimson Countess depart so soon, I love Laurie Holden. The development with A-Train this season has been pleasantly interesting as the writers double down on a redemptive arc of sorts for the character. Blue Hawk was an excellent super-cop esque character, and I imagine A-Train will regain his powers in order to kill him. But for me, the most interesting scenes in this episode contained Queen Maeve. I wasn't expecting a wee hookup between Maeve & Butcher, I was actually expecting a bit of a tussle. The scene wherein she talks down to Homelander was delicious, and was a good plant to mirror the Soldier Boy x Crimson Countess scene that would come later on in this episode. The Black Noir jump scare startled me a bit (I loved it), but it's interesting to know Homelander has him wrapped around his thumb as well as A-Train and The Deep. I expect Soldier Boy to come for Black Noir, which will inevitably put him fully on Homelander's radar. Now for my caption/title of this review, this show has ALWAYS been satirical, and has picked on both the left wing and right wing party. Of course they pick on the right wing more, look at those comical reactions! Get a grip, if you can't handle parodied (but very accurate) version of real life then stop watching! No one cares if it was one of your favorites and nobody cares to see any further reviews that are based in anger, spite, and political views.

Not sure about this one.
macadam12217 June 2022
I love The Boys. I really do. But this was a filler episode. Ackles is looking good and should prove to be a positive addition to the series but Homelander is still the king. It's perhaps the lack of Homelander that made this a slightly underwhelming episode. I get that we have to move the plot along but hey ho. It takes Soldier Boy so long to fire up his chest that Homelander will have sliced him in half before he fully charges. Talking about plots, I'm HATING the Frenchie storyline. He's a fab character but all this Russian mob poop is just so off base and out of place that it's distracting.

One of the best shows ever. A parody of many things but instead of funny it's eerie, gruesome, intense, and extremely entertaining. Gets better each season.

Disliked some parts, rest is as good as always.
Near-L17 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
My least favorite episode of the season even tho it has great moments the Seth Rogen Cameo threw me off and the whole temproary compound v drama is getting repetitive. I mean nothing wrong with Rogen doing an appearance but it just felt so off, specially when they kept the scene going after it had no reason to. Justcut the scene when they tackled her you know, don't make it weird in a bad way.

The rest was great just as always.

The Hamfisted Political Stuff Is Just Awful
HappyDonut19 June 2022
There is NO political pandering in the comic. These people creating this show hamfisted their political beliefs into this show with zero nuance.

It's ALWAYS at the sake of good story telling. This was the worst episode yet. Borderline unwatchable.

We get it. You despise half your audience and have to strawman their beliefs into your show because you're more ideological than a puritan.

Keep the woke nonsense out of things that were never made for it.

Great Episode, excellent series - and pinpoint accurate satire
michael-j-lacey19 June 2022
Loving this season even more - Homelander is increasingly evil and ever more powerful. I'm surprised by the bleating of some who can't cope with political side of the show, if you can't take a joke you shouldn't have joined.
