David Benioff and Db Weiss to Develop Film Based on Vertigo/DC Comics Graphic Novel ‘Lovecraft’
Game of Thrones” creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss are set to develop a feature film adaptation of the graphic novel “Lovecraft” at Warner Bros., an individual with knowledge of the project told TheWrap.

Benioff and Weiss’ untitled thriller is based on Keith Giffen’s 2004 book “Lovecraft,” published by DC Comics imprint Vertigo, that imagines a world in which H.P. Lovecraft’s monsters were not part of his imagination but were real.

Part biography of Lovecraft and part fantasy, the book depicts the author as having actually managed to make contact with evil from within another dimension. The film will specifically be set in the 1920s and follow the myth of the monster Cthulhu.

‘Game Of Thrones’ Duo David Benioff & D.B. Weiss Set HP Lovecraft Thriller Film At Warner Bros
Exclusive: Game of Thrones creators David Benioff & D.B. Weiss have set at Warner Bros an untitled thriller inspired by the graphic novel Lovecraft. Set to write the script are Phil Hay & Matt Manfredi, the scribe team behind such films as Aeon Flux, Ride Along and the Karyn Kusama-directed The Invitation and Destroyer. Kusama will be exec producer.

The filmmakers are keeping it close to the vest, but I’m told the movie asks a horrifying question: what if H.P. Lovecraft wasn’t making it up? What if the monsters he created are real? Also, the movie will be set in 1920 within the Cthulhu mythos. That’s all I got.

Benioff & Weiss have been eyeing this project and have been in discussion with Warner Bros’ Courtenay Valenti and Toby Emmerich for several years, while they were consumed with the monumental task of translating the George Rr Martin Game of Thrones novels into eight epic seasons.

WWE Network Original: ‘Ride Along 4×08 – Braun Takes Manhattan’ Review

  • Nerdly
If you haven’t watched an episode of WWE Ride Along, the concept is as simple as they come. A selection of WWE performers are filmed while they travel from city to city on various legs of their year-round live event tour. It’s been going on for a while now and seems to be an inexpensive way to provide an original program.

The latest episode see’s Braun Strowman, EC3 and Drake Maverick travelling together, and in another car, we see Mike and Maria Kanellis. The episodes generally last only 20 minutes or so, which can be a bit too fast, causing us to never really see many deep or meaningful conversations. This would, in all honesty, be a much better show if we spend an hour listening to road-stories with various WWE wrestlers as they drove from town-to-town, but instead we generally see travel partners joke around, often in a rather scripted manner,

Undercover Brother 2 Trailer: Michael Jai White Is the Coolest Spy in the Game

Undercover Brother 2 Trailer: Michael Jai White Is the Coolest Spy in the Game
We have a new trailer for Undercover Brother 2, which is probably an assortment of words nobody expected to find themselves reading today. Indeed, Universal Pictures has pulled something of a fast one on all of us by putting together this direct-to-video sequel to its 2001 predecessor rather quietly. Though, it seems to be a sequel mostly in name only, as we've got an entirely new cast, with Michael Jai White as our new titular hero.

The trailer is admittedly brief, clocking in at just 30 seconds, which is normally what we can expect from a TV spot. But this appears to be a very small budget, low-key affair. Though, for those familiar with the 2002 movie, many of the same elements are at play here. We've got the organization known as The Brotherhood, who are tasked with trying to take down The Man. It's all coated in 70s sheen and layers of cheese.

Kevin Hart Returns Home After Car Crash, Says He’s Shocked To Be Alive

A little over a week after being moved from the hospital to an in-patient rehab facility, actor comedian Kevin Hart has finally returned home. As many of us already know, late last month, the Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle star was involved in a horrendous car accident that resulted in a surgery to fuse three spinal fractures.

Of course, that isn’t as bad a fate as what could’ve been, and according to TMZ, Hart is both grateful and shocked to be alive and for his “new perspective on life.” Though the reporter didn’t get the chance to talk to the actor himself, an individual close to Hart provided some updates on his emotional well-being, saying:

“He really cherishes the fact that he’s alive, and wants to make the most of it in every respect,” the source said. “The crash had a huge impact on him.”

Sega addresses Sonic the Hedgehog movie backlash and redesign

Unlike the likes of Ubisoft (which now has its own film department) and Nintendo (notoriously protective of its IP since 1993’s Super Mario Bros.), fellow video game giant Sega is taking a much more hands off approach with regards to Hollywood adaptations of its various properties, including Paramount’s upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog movie.

Speaking to GamesIndustry, Sega Europe COO and president Gary Dale has explained why the company isn’t involving itself with Sonic, stating that: “I think there’s a view here that we’re very good at making video games and Paramount is very good at making pictures… This is a film. I think the idea that you try to control Paramount would be the wrong approach… Over the years, I look at the success of game franchises in film and it’s very mixed. The idea that games makers can control the process and create great movies…

Jim Carrey speaks out on backlash to Sonic the Hedgehog movie design

Fans of the iconic video game franchise Sonic the Hedgehog were outraged back at the start of May when Paramount Pictures unveiled the first trailer for the upcoming live-action feature film adaptation, with the filmmakers’ interpretation of the iconic Sega mascot coming under heavy fire for straying too far from the traditional Sonic look.

As a result of the outcry, the producers announced that they would be delaying the release of the movie in order to overhaul Sonic’s look to a more faithful design – a decision which Jim Carrey (who is playing Sonic’s arch-nemesis Dr. Robotnik) doesn’t seem to be overly enthused about.

“It’s an interesting thing,” said Carrey (via EW). “You just become their Frankenstein monster at some point, right? But I don’t know. I don’t know quite how I feel about the audience being in on the creation of it while it’s happening.
