Jennifer Nettles, lead vocalist of the country duo Sugarland and a successful solo artist, got into acting by playing Dolly Parton’s mother in the 2015 TV movie Dolly Parton’s Coat of Many Colors. Since then she has appeared in the sequel to that movie, Dolly Parton’s Christmas of Many Colors: Circle of Love, performed in Chicago and Waitress on Broadway, had roles in the film Harriet and the TV series Underground, and appeared on multiple episodes of the HBO show The Righteous Gemstones… which happens to be executive produced by David Gordon Green, so that paved the way for her to have a role in Green’s most recent film, The Exorcist: Believer. Now Deadline reports that Nettles is following her Exorcist role by being cast in another genre project: the horror action series The Bondsman!

Drum & Lace, aka Sofia degli Alessandri-Hultquist, is an artist and composer from Florence, Italy. Her music has been described as being genre-fluid and having a “chameleon-like nature” (A Closer Listen), melding together sampled field recordings, lush layers of synths, chamber instruments and electronic beats. She draws inspiration from film music, music concrete and nature to create textural electronica, often blending unlikely sounds with one another.
Her feature-length film scoring credits include Netflix film “Night Teeth” (directed by Adam Randall), campy-thriller “Deadly Illusions”, They/Them (directed by John Logan) and the just released Red, White & Royal Blue. When Is The Netflix Series ‘Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story’ Coming? Well, last fall, Evan Peters’ chilling portrayal of serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer in “Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story” captivated and horrified audiences, propelling the limited series to become the most-watched show on Netflix within a week of its release.
It achieved a remarkable milestone, becoming the third series to surpass 1 billion views on the platform in just 60 days. However, despite its financial success, the series was not without controversy.
Some of the victims’ real-life family members criticized the reenactments of their testimonials, finding them “insensitive” due to the visceral and graphic depictions of the tragic events.
Nevertheless, the show garnered acclaim and earned four Golden Globe nominations, with Evan Peters taking home the award for Best Actor – Miniseries or Television Film.

One of Kevin Bacon’s earliest roles came in the 1980 slasher classic Friday the 13th, and he has enjoyed returning to the horror genre now and then ever since. A few years ago, he teamed up with Blumhouse Television to try to get a television series follow-up to the creature feature Tremors going at Syfy. That didn’t work out, but now Bacon and Blumhouse Television are joining forces again for a horror action series called The Bondsman!
Deadline reports that The Bondsman is set up at Amazon’s Prime Video. Bacon will be taking on the role of Hub Halloran, a backwoods bounty hunter who comes back from the dead with an unexpected second chance at life, and love, and a nearly-forgotten musical career — only to find that his old job now has a demonic new twist.
The first season of the series is expected to consist of eight half-hour episodes.

With too much television, viewing every piece of content that is up for consideration for this year’s Primetime Emmy Awards nominations is impossible. With 163 drama series, 95 comedies, 51 limited or anthologies and 61 television movies, every TV-goer has their tastes.
Variety staffers have come together to curate its own dream Primetime Emmys ballot, with voting set to close at 10 p.m. Pt tonight.
However, it should be noted — we love consistency, especially in TV land.
With our selections, we want to continue to promote (and advocate) for the Television Academy to allow 10 nominees in the top series categories. In addition, we would love to see uniformity in the acting races or a performer felt like a leading entry as opposed to a supporting, then we recognized as such. We also combined all of the reality, variety and documentary into each of their respective races. Not every type of show needs its own category.

Kevin Bacon is more than a talented actor — he’s a pop culture icon. With a decades-long Hollywood career, Bacon is an entertainment industry mainstay. But he isn’t the only family member bitten by the acting bug. His 30-year-old daughter, Sosie Bacon, has also made a name for herself. Most recently, she appeared in one of 2022’s buzziest horror films, earning praise from critics and fans alike.

Antoine Fuqua has moonwalked into the director’s chair for a new Michael Jackson biopic, which will star Jackson’s 26-year-old nephew, Jaafar Jackson.
As previously reported, the script for Michael comes from John Logan, the screenwriter behind several good movies and a few duds (Star Trek: Nemesis). According to Deadline, the film will “deal squarely with the pedophile accusations that dogged his later years up to his death in 2009 at age 50, from cardiac arrest caused by a cocktail of sedatives.” However, Michael comes with the blessing of the Jackson estate and will be produced by Graham King, best known for the toothless Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody, so maybe don’t expect anything too damaging to the Jackson brand.
Jaafar Jackson is the son of Jermaine Jackson, Michael’s older brother and former Jackson 5 member. Jaafar is a singer and dancer in his own right, having released a song called...

After scoring one of the decade’s great critical and commercial successes with Jordan Peele’s “Get Out,” it’s no wonder that Blumhouse Productions doubled down on the low-budget “social thriller.” Their prevailing model that’s overtaken the genre has seen delights and duds. What felt freshly reimagined in 2017 has become somewhat rote as screenwriters all but baked the inevitable think-pieces into the scripts themselves.

In the words of Kevin Bacon, "Funny-scary is a very difficult thing." The star of Ron Underwood's horror-comedy "Tremors" has spoken at length about the 1990 creature feature and his role as stubborn handyman Val McKee who, alongside Fred Ward's Earl Bassett, tries to escape the doldrums of Perfection, Nevada when giant prehistoric underground monsters interrupt their flight.
In the documentary "Tremors: Making Perfection," Bacon, Underwood, and the rest of the film's cast and crew go long on its journey from page to screen. It began as a simple concept from writers S. S. Wilson and Brent Maddock, who were collecting footage for a Navy safety video when they thought about what it would be like if something had them marooned on a rock. The story, then dubbed "Land Sharks," would be retitled "Beneath Perfection" before finally landing on "Tremors."

And you may have missed these foreign films: “The Innocents,” a Norwegian movie about children who misuse their supernatural powers; Austria’s “Luzifer,” which earned lead Franz Rogowski a Best Actor award at Fantastic Fest; Dutch folk horror film “Moloch;” “The Sadness,” an extreme body horror/zombie movie from Taiwan; “Saloum” from Senegal, which The Guardian called “slick gangster horror in wild west Africa;” and “Speak No Evil,” in which a get-together with a couple from Denmark and one...

News of the potential merger of two of Hollywood’s savviest genre filmmakers, Jason Blum and James Wan, has sent jump-scares throughout Hollywood — and not just at Warner Bros., which let its deal with “Conjuring” franchise creator Wan lapse earlier this year after nearly a decade.
The coupling is a big score for Universal, where Blum has a long-time deal that has produced a string of profitable low-budget hits — five this year alone. But the move also portends a joining of two like-minded creators looking to take advantage of a marketplace willing to pay top dollar for proven hit-makers.
“Blum and Wan combined are the unassailable kings of horror-thriller and would be extremely attractive to outside financiers or as a public company,” one top Hollywood agent told TheWrap. “Blum is perhaps the smartest producer in the business and is well aware of the money that Hello Sunshine or SpringHill got for selling ownership stakes,...

Each week Joe Lipsett will highlight a key scene or interaction in S02 of Don Mancini’s Chucky series to consider how the show is engaging with and contributing to queer horror.
With the action cutting back exclusively to the School of Incarnate Lord, this week’s “Chucky” delivers an hour focused solely on the kids. And while the demise of Trevor by Hulk Chucky is sure to be the episode’s biggest talking point, that’s the buzzy cliffhanger, not the meat of “Hail, Mary!”
Most of the episode is dedicated to guilt, penance, and forgiveness. It’s built into Sister Catherine (Andrea Carter)’s art history lesson; it falls from the lips of Devon Sawa’s Father Bryce (numerous times); and it’s a struggle that continues to drive a wedge between not just Jake (Zackary Arthur) and Devon (Björgvin Arnarson), but also Lexy (Alyvia Alyn Lind), who...

In 2017, Kevin Bacon was one of an estimated 40,000 people defrauded by Bernie Madoff in what was the largest Ponzi scheme in history. Now, he is reflecting on the crime with a positive vibe.
On the October 10th episode of the SmartLess podcast–hosted by Jason Bateman, Will Arnett and Sean Tracey Hayes–Kevin Bacon opened up about being swindled in Bernie Madoff’s infamous Ponzi scheme, which was estimated to be worth around 65 million, a feat not recognized by Guinness. What is, however, is the “most connected actor living”–and it’s not even Kevin Bacon, it’s Harvey Keitel!
Considering Kevin Bacon and his wife Kyra Sedgwick lost millions of dollars in the scheme, the Footloose actor has a remarkably hopeful outlook on the situation. “Whatever doesn’t kill you makes you stronger…We just rolled up our sleeves.”

Jamie Babbit's 1999 film "But I'm a Cheerleader" is a broad, colorful satire that takes aim at that most deserving of targets: conversion camps for teens. So-called conversion therapy, openly lambasted by the Human Rights Campaign, is the attempt to alter a young person's sexual orientation or gender identity, often using any number of abusive or manipulative means. As of this writing, conversion therapy is illegal in France, Germany, Spain, Mexico, Albania, Canada, and multiple U.S. States. Bans are pending in other countries. Many of these conversion camps are run by church groups, "ex-gay" ministries, and other non-profit organizations. Many people who have run said camps have come out to denounce them as psychologically torturous.
In media, conversion camps have appeared as the central setting of several recent major feature films. The 2022 slasher film "They/Them" is set at a conversion camp. The Netflix documentary "Pray Away" -- a shortening...

I didn’t want to write this. “I was rooting for you!” as Tyra Banks would say. It had the perfect setup. Clever title, great concept, brilliant casting. How did a horror film about the queer experience written and directed by a gay man go so wrong on almost every level to the point that They/Them completely fails as a narrative and insults its audience by totally misreading the moment, dismissing very real and ongoing threats while reinforcing both homophobic and transphobic tropes and beliefs?

Halloween fans, prepare to get out your iron. The so-called final entry in the series, "Halloween Ends," is expected to arrive in theaters on October 14, 2022. Campers at an LGBTQ+ conversion camp endure unsettling psychological techniques while the campsite is stalked by a mysterious killer.
John Logan‘s They/Them is absolutely one of the weirdest slasher films in years. Run by Kevin Bacon’s Owen Whistler and designed to appear like a typical summer camp, Whistler lures the campers into a sense of trust with an oddly warm, inclusionary and unthreatening welcome before unleashing his and his family’s violent and discriminatory torture on the group. All there for different reasons, the group must band together to survive the psychological and physical abuse they experience.
