Don’t expect Charlize Theron to return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe anytime soon. When asked if she knew when she was coming back to the franchise after her cameo at the end of “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness,” Theron was all shrugs.
“I haven’t gotten a call. Is that bad?” Theron told MTV reporter Josh Horowitz during the “Fast X” premiere in Rome. When pressed on the issue, the star assured Horowitz that she wasn’t lying three times then made a joke that he should cut her answer.
“No, that’s what we’re running,” Horowitz quipped back.
If you didn’t know that Theron was in the MCU, first of all, c’mon. She’s a huge name in Hollywood and a master of sci-fi action movies. Grass is green and of course Charlize Theron was going to appear in a Marvel movie. This...

Marvel may still be in the midst of finding an "Ant-Man" director, but it seems they found someone to steer "Doctor Strange" to the big screen. The studio has reportedly tapped Scott Derrickson ("Sinister," "The Day the Earth Stood Still") to bring the mystical "Sorcerer Supreme" to the big screen, according to Variety. The director was previously rumored to be one of the names in the running for the gig, along with Jonathan Levine ("Warm Bodies," "50/50"). Marvel is currently working on conjuring up a "Strange" leading man, but news should be coming soon. Johnny Depp has been rumored to be discussing the role with Marvel, with Jared Leto being mentioned as a possibility today by Badass Digest. Nothing is confirmed, however. Created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, Stephen Strange first appeared in 1963 as a magic-powered hero who represents the more supernatural side of the Marvel universe and has been affiliated with the Defenders,...

I’m not going to delude myself and think that we’re going to start a revolution, and that Urban Legends: Final Cut will somehow surpass Halloween as the better film. But just hear me out; it’s a much better film than people have ever given it credit to be.
I was surfing around Netflix and saw it had been added; I own the DVD but as is with our age of digital gratification I popped it on anyways. As the credits started I remembered back to when I first saw it. The year was 2000, and I was looking through the DVD selection at my local Ames; a chain long since extinct, and I spotted it. I didn’t even have internet at the time- (go ahead and judge), and had heard nothing about a sequel to Urban Legends. I bought it sight unseen after reading the description, for a modest $24.99. Taking care of her to-do list, Charlize Theron scurried out of her luxury hotel and hit the streets of New York City yesterday afternoon (April 2).
The “Monster” actress was prepared for the chilly Manhattan weather, sporting a dark wool pea coat and warm scarf as she made her way to several stops throughout the Big Apple.
At one point Charlize met up with a male friend for lunch at an eatery in the Union Square neighborhood, chatting and laughing as if they hadn’t seen each other in ages.

We're starting to suspect that Charlize Theron is planning on cloning herself. It was only on Friday that news emerged that the Oscar-winner, hotter than ever after the success of "Prometheus" and "Snow White & The Huntman," had signed on to a new comedy called "Ladies Night," adding to the long list of bubbling projects that also includes sci-fi "Agent 13" with Rupert Wyatt, Scott Derrickson's horror "Zwart Water," crime thriller "Cities of Refuge," John Madden's "Murder Mystery," a biopic of Marie Colvin, a remake of "Sympathy For Lady Vengeance," Seth MacFarlane's comedy "A Million Days To Die In The West," and an adaptation of Gillian Flynn's "Dark Places." And now she's only gone and added another, with Heat Vision reporting that the actress has set up an as-yet-untitled crime movie at Paramount through her Denver and Delilah shingle, in which she'll star and produce. Thanks to the success of "Prometheus" and "Snow White and the Huntsman" last summer (as well as her acclaimed, if ignored-by-awards-bodies performance in "Young Adult"), Charlize Theron is more in demand than ever before. The actress has already wrapped one blockbuster, "Mad Max: Fury Road," and has lots more bubbling under waiting to be picked out as her next project: sci-fi "Agent 13" with Rupert Wyatt, Scott Derrickson's horror "Zwart Water," crime thriller "Cities of Refuge," John Madden's "Murder Mystery," a biopic of Marie Colvin, a remake of "Sympathy For Lady Vengeance," Seth MacFarlane's comedy "A Million Days To Die In The West," and an adaptation of Gillian Flynn's "Dark Places." And somehow, she's found space for one more, as The Hollywood Reporter brings news that Theron will star in the comedy "Ladies Night," being backed by Skydance Productions ("Star Trek," "Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol"). Is it even possible for Charlize Theron to not look spectacular? (Her hair was all buzzed off for the Mad Max reboot with Tom Hardy but she's made the most of it here).
Next up for Charlize:
Mad Max: Fury Road (in 2014) A Million Ways to Die in the West (2014? 2015?) Sympathy for Lady Vengeance (2015? Remake of the Park Chan-wook movie)
Three other rumored projects (a horror film Two Eyes Staring, a thriller generically titled Murder Mystery and the sequel Snow White and the Hunstman 2 though it would be really weird if Queen Ravenna was suddenly alive again) could also go before cameras. As per usual, Charlize makes us wait between movies. Such a cruel beauty, that one. ...

Charlize Theron is still sporting that buzz cut...
The 37-year-old actress was spotted catching a movie with her mom, Gerda, in Hollywood, Calif., on Saturday (Dec. 15), flaunting her newly-gray shaved head. The "Snow White and the Huntsman" star cut all her hair off for the upcoming film "Mad Max: Fury Road."
And although Theron is busy being a mom to son Jackson, she's not slowing down. Aside from "Mad Max," she's rumored to be starring in "Murder Mystery," "Two Eyes Staring" and "Snow White and the Huntsman 2."
Busy, bald and beautiful.

Eric Bana is in talks to star in the Jerry Bruckheimer produced, Scott Derrickson (Sinister) directed film project Beware the Night. The movie is a paranormal police thriller based on the book by Ralph Sarchie. The story follows a New York cop who investigates demonic possessions, exorcisms and other supernatural occurences.
The movie has been in development for years, it started out with Derrickson on board, and has since gone through the hands of filmmakers like David Ayer, Bryan Bertino and Bruce C. McKenna. It's now back in the hands of Derrickson. Mark Wahlberg was previously offered the lead role at one point but he turned it down.
I've enjoyed most of the films that the director has made, and this seems like a great project for him. He's also signed on to direct Two Eyes Staring with Charlize Theron for Summit Entertainment, which is a remake of the Dutch thriller Zwart Water.

The director of The Exorcism of Emily Rose and The Day the Earth Stood Still, Scott Derrickson, has signed on to direct a paranormal police thriller called Beware the Night.
I'm a big fan of both horror movies and police dramas, so this sounds like it could be a cool film. The story follows a New York police officer investigating real life demon possessions, exorcisms and werewolves after dark. What? Vampires don't exist in this world?
According to The Wrap Mark Wahlberg was offered the lead role in the movie but ended up passing. Not sure why, but hopefully it wasn't because the script sucked, because Wahlberg has made some pretty terrible films in his career. It's not a good sign if he passes on a movie because the script is bad. Derrickson will be re-writing it though.

A release slated for next month notwithstanding, Sinister‘s been in the can for several months now — but I still give credit to Scott Derrickson for not resting on whatever laurels are poised to come in a month’s time. On that note, TheWrap tell us the filmmaker has been tapped for Beware the Night, a (you already knew) horror picture he’ll both direct and rewrite for Screen Gems and Jerry Bruckheimer.
A little digging makes it apparent that Night actually adapts a (potentially) real-life police thriller written by Ralph Sarchie and Lisa Collier Cool, the former of whom acted as the book’s central protagonist. Within the pages of this memoir, the NYPD officer told of encounters with “incredible true crimes an inhuman evil that were never explained, solved, or understood.”
Amazon‘s description expands on that a good deal:

The Summit Entertainment production is set to be directed by Scott Derrickson ('The Exorcism of Emily Rose') will helm the project from the script adapted by scribe Paul Harris Boardman, who also penned 'Hellraiser: Inferno' and 'Urban Legends: Final Cut'. Charlize (below) will also be steaming up the specs of many-a sci-fi geek next Summer when she stars in Ridley Scott's new 'Alien'-esque prequel 'Prometheus'. The original ghost story from writer/director Elbert van Strien was released last year as 'Two Eyes Staring' internationally, which is surprising due to the actual translation being 'Black Water', and starred Hadewych Minis, Barry Atsma, Isabelle Stokkel and Charlotte Arnoldy. Check out the plot info from the original below.

Charlize Theron will soon be seeing ghosts.
Things are starting to get a little creepy with the "Hancock" star as she's signed on to produce and star in the American remake of the Dutch horror thriller, "Two Eyes Staring," according to Heat Vision.
"Two Eyes Staring," which was originally titled "Zwart Water" (which, in some ways, sounds more ominous), centers around a nine-year-old girl who discovers that her strange new friend happens to be her mother's dead twin (zoinks!). Theron will be playing the mother, a "troubled" woman, to say the least.
The remake will be directed by Scott Derrickson, who knows a thing or two about horror after calling the shots on the underrated "The Exorcism of Emily Rose." Derrickson is also no stranger to remakes, having directed "The Day the Earth Stood Still," which starred Theron's pal and two-time co-star, Keanu Reeves.

Charlize Theron is apparently keen to get in on the genre game. She's been involved with a few thrillers in the past, but never a full-on horror movie, but soon that will change when she takes on the lead role in an Americanization of the Dutch ghost movie Two Eyes Staring (titled Zwart Water in its native tongue). The Hollywood Reporter tells us that Theron's production company, Denver and Delilah Films, actually acquired the rights to the film last year and they've now announced a writer-director team for the project: Scott Derrickson and Paul Boardman. Horror fans will recognize Derrickson and Boardman as the team who gave the world The Exorcism of Emily Rose, though this is their first team-up since then. Derrickson is currently shooting Sinister, which he...

Just when Scott Derrickson began directing another original project — this one being the Ethan Hawke starrer, Sinister — THR informs us that he’ll jump back into the remake pool not long after. This time around, it’s an update of the 2010 thriller Two Eyes Staring, with Charlize Theron starring and producing.
The original film, known in its native Dutch tongue as Zwart Water, follows “a nine-year girl old who discovers that her new friend is not only sinister but also is her mother’s dead twin.” In the new version, Theron will star as the “not quite right in the head” mother of the girl. As it turns out, the Young Adult star has been one of the main creative forces behind this remake; in addition to picking it up through her Denver and Delilah Films, she also hired Derrickson and Paul Boardman, his Exorcism of Emily Rose co-writer, to adapt it.

Charlize Theron is getting ready to get her scare on with a new Scott Derrickson film based on Dutch horror thriller Zwart Water, which will see her as both producer and star.
Zwart Water, which was renamed Two Eyes Staring when it went international last year, tells the story of a nine-year-old girl that discovers her new friend is actually her mother’s dead twin sister. Theron is set to play the mother, described as “not quite right in the head.” Sheesh! If she’s not right now, I can’t imagine how she’ll be after she finds out her baby girl is playing with her dead sister.
Derrickson, the writer/director behind The Exorcism of Emily Rose, co-wrote the script with Emily Rose collaborator Paul Boardman.

One of the films to play Fantastic Fest in Austin last month was the Dutch ghost story thriller Zwart Water, aka Two Eyes Staring. Germain wasn't thrilled with the film, calling it a good story that wasn't handled well. It's one that sounds like prime material for a remake, and indeed that is something that is already in motion. Even as the film played Fantastic Fest, the remake rights were in the hands of Charlize Theron's production company. Now The Exorcism of Emily Rose writer/director Scott Derrickson has been hired to co-write and direct the remake, which will star Theron.THR [1] says that Theron's company, Denver and Delilah Films, has tapped Derrickson and his Emily Rose co-writer Paul Boardman to write, and Derrickson will direct. The film is about "a nine-year girl old who discovers that her new friend is not only sinister but also is her mother's dead twin.

Charlize Theron is diving deep into genre projects these days, already onboard high-profile upcoming flicks such as Ridley Scott's Prometheus and playing the Evil Queen in Snow White and the Huntsman. Now she's adding another one to the docket: according to the The Hollywood Reporter she will star in and produce a remake of the Dutch horror movie Zwart Water, which was retitled Two Eyes Staring for its international release. (The original title translates to "Dark Water," I believe.) Theron's Denver and Delilah Films picked up the remake rights to Zwart Water last year and hired the Exorcism of Emily Rose team of Scott Derrickson and Paul Boardman to write the script. Derrickson will also be behind the camera as the remake's director. He last helmed the remake of The Day the Earth Stood Still, so judge that as you may. Two Eyes Staring (or Zwart Water, whichever you...

Even though his latest film for Summit Entertainment, Sinister, is still forthcoming, that isn't stopping The Exorcism of Emily Rose director Scott Derrickson from lining up his next project, a remake of the foreign horror flick from the Netherlands Two Eyes Staring (aka Zwart Water).
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Summit Entertainment has come aboard to remake the Dutch horror thriller with Charlize Theron attached to produce and star. Derrickson will helm the remake from a script he wrote with Emily Rose collaborator Paul Boardman.
Zwart Water centers on a nine-year-old girl who discovers that her new friend is not only sinister but also is her mother's dead twin. Theron is attached to play the mother, who is not quite right in the head, as they say. The movie, which was released in Europe last year, was re-titled Two Eyes Staring when it hit international circuits, most recently playing at Fantastic Fest in September.

Charlize Theron’s planned remake of the Dutch horror flick “Two Eyes Staring” (aka “Zwart Water”) has found its director in Scott Derrickson, director of “The Exorcism of Emily Rose” and “The Day the Earth Stood Still”, as well as the upcoming “Goliath”. (Yeah, we’ll pretend he never directed “The Day the Earth Stood Still” and move on along…) Theron snapped up the remake rights to the film back in 2010, with plans to remake it and star, and it looks like she’s making progress on both fronts. Theron would play the mother of a nine-year girl old whose new friend turns out to be the ghost of her mother’s twin sister — who happens to be dead. That’s…not so good. Her father, meanwhile, begins to suspect that all might not be right with his wife. Oh, really? Genius, this guy. It’s a juicy role, to be sure,...

Scott Derrickson, who is currently working on Sinister for Summit Entertainment, will be getting behind the camera for the long-gestured English-language remake of the Dutch thriller Two Eyes Staring (Zwart Water), which has one of the most idiotic twists in the past few years. Bullhead and Two Eyes Staring have nothing in common except their country of origin. They're both from Belgium, two of the three films from that country playing Fantastic Fest this year, in fact. Two Eyes Staring was optioned by Charlize Theron last year for an American remake and is about a woman who inherits her childhood house after her estranged mother passes away. There, her young daughter begins to have visions that illuminate mommy's seedy past. That's a very female-centric film and Bullhead is the opposite. Winner of Best Picture in the Amd & Dell Next Wave Spotlight Competition [1] and the Belgian contender for the 2012 Academy Awards, Bullhead is about a muscle-bound, hormone-peddling gangster who himself has a huge childhood secret that has affected everything he's done since. One is realistic and the other ethereal; one has compelling points but both have major flaws. Bullhead is two and a half really...

It seems to be a morning for haunting stories. Charlize Theron is setting up Two Eyes Staring, and The Haunting in Georgia has its first cast member, in the diminutive form of Emily Alyn Lind.Following on from The Haunting in Connecticut, Georgia tells another story loosely based on a supposedly real happening, with another family in another state undergoing more supernatural shenanigans in a new home. It'd directed by Tom Elkins (who edited Connecticut) and written by David Coggeshall (head writer on TV series' Watch Over Me and Desire). If Emily's the main focus of the haunting, then it looks as if the film, with such a young protagonist, is trying for a Shining / Poltergeist vibe. Not an unreasonable ambition. The young actress (daughter of director John Lind and actress Barbara Alyn Woods) has Eastwick, Medium and All My Children on her TV CV, and movie-wise was previously in The Secret Life of Bees.
