I was excited when I heard this one was coming to the PSP, but not what I was expecting.

I had already played Persona 3 and 4 and loved both games. So when I found out this one was being re-released on the PSP I was totally excited. To bad this one just is not up to those other two titles. Do not get me wrong it was okay, just not as fun and in depth as the other two. There are no social links in this, the first incarnation and for the most part all you are doing is fighting random battle after random battle. You have to grind a lot in this one suffice to say. Granted you had to grind in the others too, but you also had to do things that had absolutely nothing to do with fighting such as going to school, doing after school activities and going on class trips. There are no such elements in this one. It started out rather good, as you and your friends go to visit a friend in the hospital only to have the hospital under siege by demons. You then spend most of the game trying to find out the cause of the outbreak and at one point you are transported to an alternate dimension. Certain aspects of the game were good, just to much grinding in the end to really be a lot of fun. In this one you do not summon demons, but rather simply summon your Persona to come out and help you deal with enemies. You also use different weapons such as a sword or whip then a secondary weapon which is a gun for all characters. The fighting at times is not to bad, at other times a bit frustrating. I have also heard that this is the first game to have real voice overs during game play, but not sure if that is true or not. I do know that both the third and fourth Persona games are immensely better than this one as I did not mind that those games took well over 90 hours to win while this one probably did not take that much time it still felt a lot longer. I do not know the precise time it took to win this one as the PSP kept track of time even when I was not actively playing the game. It was fun in a way though, but nothing I have not played before. I still want to see what Persona 2 is like and I have heard rumors that it too is coming to the PSP.

This Persona game on Playstation Classic is torture to play.

Warning: Spoilers
I have recently played this game Revelations Persona on PlayStation Classic and I didn't enjoy playing it. Normally I like playing Dungeon Crawler RPG games such as Shining in the Darkness and Phantasy Star 1. But this rpg game was very tedious and torture to play.

You start off as the main hero who recruits 4 allies you get to choose including Mark, Nate, Mary and the forth character Brad or someone else, to fight the evil spirits that have invaded your hometown and you go into Mary's dream world to help her recover. You also fight her father Guido who's trying to take over the world. The random encounters with monsters, demons begins at the Hospital and then in the town.

The battle system has you set up your party however you like but on the downside you can't just select fight or gun if the enemy is at an angle so you're forced to select defend. Seriously, what the heck is Atlus thinking, it's literally a tedious chore just to select which enemies to fight and if the player can't fight them they skip out, It's annoying. I also hate that you can't run from fights most of the time and they ambush you causing you to reset your party formation. I also hate it that some enemies would reflect your sword and gun attacks or magic attack which makes it a pain to fight them. I would've like to turn off the annoying random encounters since the enemies hit you hard. And it takes too long to level grind. Although I did like choosing 3 status points on my main hero for every level up. You can also talk to monsters without fighting though you have to be careful not to get them angry and you won't get experience points if they run away which is a drag.

Also you're forced to walk around the confusing dungeon mazes and you're constantly running into dead ends. Why doesn't this game provide a map? Also you cannot teleport out of a dungeon which forces the player to backtrack which takes too much time seriously what was Atlus company thinking? At least Shining in the Darkness allowed for a map and a way to teleport out. Also there isn't as much save points but you can use a save state on the PlayStation Classic to save anytime you want.

I did like the save state cheat feature on the PlayStation Classic which allowed me to cheat at gambling including Poker and Codebreaker and allowed me to get easy money which got me full 99 stock of healing items and attack rock and stone items like holy and light attacks which helps out. Also you'll need Physical Barrier and Magical Barrier items, Elixirock and ElixirStone which you'll want to use in the game.

The Persona card combo custom was very confusing to me and I didn't use them as much since there wasn't enough information on them.

The hardest part of this game was the final dungeon, when enemies hit very and I struggled with the last boss Pandora and the Butterfly Fairy. But I realized that if I used Physical Barrier, Magical Barrier, it deflects the attacks to the boss which helped me out a lot and I had to use Elixirstones and fight away and then I finally won.

I was surprised at the profanity that was used in the game including "Damn", "Hell", "Crap" and "Piss" and one of the names of the gun is called B. Gun which surprised me, was used in the game though not as strong as the swearing used in Final Fantasy 7. I was also surprised that at one point there's actually nudity featured in the game with Mary undressed in a bubble and a poster featuring a stripper woman. There's also gun violence in this game. Also there are scary monsters featured in the game including Pandora which makes me question the ESRB rating K-A when it should've been rated T.

In conclusion I suggest you gamers not play this tedious RPG game since it's not for beginners and its for experts. This is a game I would not recommend you play on the PlayStation Classic unless you can waste time through the torture dungeons and fights. Play Wild Arms or Final Fantasy 7 instead, they are much more fun to play even for beginners. Also if you want to play a Dungeon Crawler game play Shining in the Darkness or Phantasy Star instead. Also there are better Persona games to play including Tokyo Mirage Sessions.

Suggested ESRB Rating: Rated T for language, violence, suggestive themes, partial nudity, gambling, scary images, some intense gameplay.
