Insightful

Excellent documentary, apparently made on a shoestring budget by a couple of Australian film makers. Provides a good insight into the Devo backstory, which now goes back over 50 years since it started. Lots of interviews with the Devo guys and various others too. Sadly, their devolution theory has become all too true, and this is discussed extensively throughout. At the very least a thought provoking story which should be viewed by all of us. At its best, a powerfully moving but depressing message. Plenty of Devo music too, and a bit of time spent with them in the studio in 2020 doing a Beautiful World remix. Well made and well worth watching.

Devo was right, even more so than even they knew

Devo was right about the future: the human species is de-evolving. The world is getting worse. In fact, far worse than even Devo thought it would be. Are they glad about being right? Not at all. To put an exclamation point on both their visionary art and their dis-satisfaction with the state of affairs today, they remix their classic Beautiful World. Does the AI robot in Beautiful World 2.0 let humanity live? Should it?

Self Aggrandizing Junk

Wow. These guys are so self absorbed they are beyond belief. Especially when you consider the fact that Devo never had any major hits. Ever. They are remembered largely for their handful of MTV videos.

Proof in the pudding only Mothersberg went on to make any money and that was from writing movie soundtracks.

So this flick drones on and on with former band members (who keep getting back together because they live in yesterday) pontificating about how socially aware and mindfully important they were in 1970. Who cares.

They are basically a footnote in the would of music, not the Beatles. They are over weight has beens.
