Before Zendaya had leading roles in such blockbusters as “Dune: Part Two” and Marvel’s “Spider-Man” trilogy, she was known as a teen star on the Disney Channel series “Shake It Up” and “K.C. Undercover.” And, according to a former Disney Channel casting executive, the actor could’ve been associated with another major project from the network: the “Descendants” franchise.
Cornelia Frame, former vice president of casting and talent relations at Disney Channel, revealed in a recent interview on the “Magical Rewind” podcast that Zendaya auditioned for an undisclosed role in “Descendants.”
“Zendaya did audition many times for ‘Descendants,’ and that was a big deal,” Frame said. “I mean, a really big deal that she auditioned over and over. She really wanted it, and it just ended up not going her way.”

In fall 2009, a young girl nervously walked into an audition room to perform for Disney Channel casting agents, who were actively seeking the star for their new show ‘Dance Dance Chicago.’ The girl wasn’t fully confident in her dancing ability, but she connected with the character, Rocky Blue. After chemistry testing with another young actress, this girl was hired for her first major project, which would later be renamed ‘Shake It Up.’ A little over a decade later, she would win her first Emmy Award for ‘Euphoria.’ Now, Zendaya has become a household name after growing a reputation of excellence in the entertainment industry. At 27 years old, she’s been in multiple Disney Channel projects, animated films, a musical, three Marvel films, Denis Villeneuve’s ‘Dune’ franchise, and the newest Luca Guadagnino film ‘Challengers.’ She made Forbes’ 30 under 30 list at only 19 years old, and was labeled a “triple threat from the Mouse House.

Twelve years ago, Zendaya netted her feature debut in Disney Channel’s Frenemies.
The actress had been starring opposite Bella Thorne on the Disney series Shake It Up, about performers on a Chicago-based TV dance show. Zendaya was 14 when she and Thorne filmed the anthology comedy for director Daisy von Scherler Mayer, who had helmed the 1995 Parker Posey indie Party Girl and the 1998 feature Madeline. One of Frenemies‘ three connected storylines saw Zendaya and Thorne as aspiring magazine editors competing for a gig with an NYC publisher.
“Zendaya really wanted to have fun with the comedy and lean into it,” von Scherler Mayer says. “She chose to wear big glasses and be goofy, and it impressed me that she wanted to show off her comic chops and has such great timing.”
The film shot in Toronto, and the director recalls the lead actresses having slumber parties during production: “All those teenagers were true teenagers.

Superstar Zendaya has been acting professionally since 2010, beginning with the role of Rocky Blue on the Disney teen sitcom "Shake It Up." Her first film gig was playing the voice of Lollipop, a talking pony in "Super Buddies." Zendaya continued to star in teen sitcoms and high school dramas for over a decade, appearing in "Frenemies," several "Spider-Man" movies, the remake of "Zapped," and the acclaimed HBO drama series "Euphoria." It's worth noting that Zendaya was already 23 when she was cast in "Euphoria," forcing the actor to remain in high school for years after her real-life high school graduation in 2015 (figuratively speaking).
The number of times the 27-year-old actor has played an adult is scant. Her first "adult" role came in the 2021 film "Malcolm & Marie," on which she served as executive producer. That same year, Zendaya also played the voice of Lola Bunny in "Space Jam: A New Legacy,...

Zendaya is well-known these days, especially with younger audiences, thanks to her roles in ‘Euphoria,’ ‘Dune,’ and the ‘Spider-Man’ movies. What’s great about her is how genuine she seems, often praised for her effortless charm.
Before becoming a huge star, Zendaya’s career was already taking off, even though Amy Pascal and Kevin Feige hadn’t heard of her at the time.
In a recent article in Vogue about Zendaya, Amy Pascal shared that neither she nor Feige recognized the young actress at first. However, she quickly impressed them, and they were convinced she had to be in the movie.

Zendaya is currently a household name, mostly among the younger audiences due to her roles in ‘Euphoria,’ ‘Dune,’ and MCU’s ‘Spider-Man’ film series. The best part about the young actress is how down-to-earth she appears, as she is always commended as having almost effortless and natural charm.
Zendaya wasn’t always a mega-popular star, but her career did take off even before she starred alongside Holland’s Spider-Man. Unfortunately, both Amy Pascal and Kevin Feige were totally unaware of her.

Zendaya landed her big breakout film when she was cast opposite Tom Holland in 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming. However, producer Amy Pascal said neither she nor Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige knew who the star was when she auditioned for the role of Mj.

It's Zendaya's world, and we're all just living in it - she sings, she dances, she acts! With her recent roles in "Spider-Man: No Way Home," "Dune," and "Malcolm & Marie" - and, of course, her leading part on the HBO series "Euphoria" - Zendaya is *the* moment. In 2020, her incredible performance in "Euphoria" earned her her first-ever Emmy win for outstanding lead actress in a drama series, making her the youngest lead actress and the second-ever Black actress in Emmys history to receive the award.
Even prior to this supernova of a moment for the actress, you've probably seen Zendaya around for a while. Before her historic win, she graced the silver screen as the trapeze artist Anne in "The Greatest Showman" and played the decidedly chill, deadpanned version of Mj in "Spider-Man: Homecoming." But perhaps Zendaya's most recognizable accomplishments before her foray into dramatic feature parts were...

Where to Watch “Insiders”: Netflix
At one point in “Insiders,” there’s a montage of people being told they’re being put through into the next “round” of a reality show casting process. Nearly every one of them asks if they can give a hug or kiss to the producer giving them the good news. (They only get handshakes.) It’s a sustained burst of happiness and relief from a group of individuals who don’t even realize that the show they think they’re auditioning for is well under way.
That’s the main hook for “Insiders,” a series that puts a dozen people through the paces of a “training” period, ostensibly to see which of them is cut out for being on a show that none of them know will never actually come. Instead, the minimalist practice living space that they...

Samantha Jones may have been the one to tell off The Girls over one especially heated lunch in the episode “Frenemies”: “And you can forget Samba!” But the creators of “Sex and the City” are now the ones telling us, “You can forget Samantha Jones!”

Regardless of genre, film and television are mediums designed to entertain. But they are also vehicles to create emotional engagement with stories. And it’s one thing to feel connected; another entirely to see yourself reflected in a character that doesn’t just share your physical attributes, but also your experiences, your culture and your lifestyle. No matter where it comes from, representation matters. And for Zendaya, the first time she saw herself reflected on screen was on the very network that would later launch her own successful career.

At the end of the season, the competitor who ends up with the fastest lap time will win a $500 Applebee's gift card. That's a lot of $1 Long Island iced teas.
The first guest to appear on Hot Lap is Nate Contreras aka Tabasko Sweet, who hosts the web series Cheap Thrills for Super Deluxe.

Though Bella Thorne has been open about being bisexual since last year, the actress says she’s never had a girlfriend — something she’d like to change.
“I’ve done other stuff with girls, but I want to actually date a girl,” Thorne told Harper’s Bazaar for a shoot that recreates Marilyn Monroe’s 1961 nearly-nude photo series.
Admitted Thorne, “I can’t tell if a girl is hitting on me or she just wants to be friends. And I don’t want to flirt with a girl if she thinks I’m just being her friend. What if I kiss a girl and she’s like, ‘Oh, I’m just your friend dude, I can’t believe you just crossed that boundary.’ I’m confused on what they want from me.”
