Jenna Dewan Recalls the "Eye-Catching" Moment She Shared With Steve Kazee Years Before Their Romance
Jenna Dewan will never forget the moment she met her fiancé Steve Kazee. As she told The Knot for its fall issue, it was about nine years ago and Dewan and her mom were in New York. They decided to see the musical Once, which Kazee starred in. "We cried our eyes out and fell in love with the show—in particular, the lead actor, Steve Kazee," Dewan recalled. "We thought he was just so talented. And funnily enough, my mom had the biggest crush—she couldn't stop saying, 'He's the cutest, so sensitive, so handsome.' She just kept going on and on." So, the mother-daughter duo decided to wait by the stage door and congratulate the Tony winner on his performance....

Like many Asian countries, India has also been through an increase in social issues as a result of many developments, such as globalization and digitization. While the country has the foundation to be one of the world’s leaders in politics and technology, many aspects, for example, the growing gap within society, hold it back and have been the cause of much unrest within its population, a process which has only grown worse in the face of the Covid-19 pandemic. When director and cinematographer Ashish Pant came up with the idea for his first feature film “The Knot”, or “Uljhan”, he was inspired by a personal memory of growing up in Lucknow, a city in northern India and the place where he spent his childhood, which was the starting point for a story exploring the theme of class within Indian society, and how it affects human relationships.

This week, British actor, writer and director Noel Clarke has made headlines after being accused of groping, harassment and bullying by 20 women.
Clarke played Mickey Smith in “Doctor Who” from 2005 to 2010 and starred as Sam in the films “Kidulthood,” “Adulthood” and “Brotherhood,” which he wrote and directed, intent on bringing more representations of working-class Britain to screen. Clarke also writes, produces and plays Aaron Bishop in the British police procedural series “Bulletproof,” alongside close friend Ashley Walters.
Clarke made his film debut in 2003’s “I’ll Sleep When I’m Dead” and has since starred in movies including “Star Trek Into Darkness,” “Centurion,” “4.3.2.1.,” “Fast Girls,” “Storage 24,” “I Am Soldier,” “The Anomaly,” “I Kill Giants,” “Mute,” “10×10,” “The Corrupted,” “Twist” and “Sas: Red Notice.”
In 2015, Clarke founded the London-based production company Unstoppable Film and Television with Jason Maza, eventually securing investment from super-indie All3Media, which owns “Fleabag” producer Two Brothers and “1917” outfit Neal Street Productions.

Wedding planning is supposed to be a joyous time for a couple. But in an interview for The Knot's Summer 2021 issue, Jonathan Bennett and his fiancé Jaymes Vaughan opened up about the discrimination they faced while searching for a venue. For years, the Mean Girls alum and the Celebrity Page host, who got engaged in November 2020, dreamed of tying the knot at Palace Resorts in Mexico. However, they changed their plans after they were turned away. "When we got engaged, the owner said he couldn't marry us because we're two men and it goes against his morals," Bennett recalled. "That was a sucker punch to the gut. We decided in that moment that our wedding was...

We have yet another Bachelor Nation wedding to look forward to! On the last season of The Bachelor, Arie Luyendyk Jr. popped the question to winner Lauren Burnham during the After the Final Rose ceremony — after originally proposing and revoking his proposal to Becca Kufrin. While the move stirred up controversy, it appears as though Arie and Lauren's relationship is progressing quite nicely, considering they already set a wedding date for the summer! An eagle-eyed reddit user found the couple's registry via The Knot, which revealed they set the date for June 28 of this year. The exact location has yet to be disclosed, but the site states they will walk down the aisle somewhere in Arizona. The link was actually redirected from Lauren's first registry, meaning she owned the account from her prior engagement. Another source told Life & Style the occasion may be televised, as "it would be a continuation of their love story.

From Doctor Who’s Mickey to a one-man film industry, and Brotherhood. So why doesn’t Noel Clarke get more respect?
Over the past weekend, the final part of Noel Clarke’s The Hood trilogy of movies, Brotherhood, hit big in the UK. The movie has earned £1.98m in its first seven days on release, on just 220 screens. It did so in spite of Clarke at one stage struggling to raise the finance for the film (only two companies ended up putting in tangible offers), and also in spite of it being eight years since the release of its predecessor, Adulthood.
In a summer of box office disappointments, Brotherhood has offered a very welcome contrast.
The box office numbers were being reported as a surprise, and not unreasonably. Rounding off a trilogy that’s been off screen for many years is a gamble, and a trilogy too...

Hard though this is to believe, it's been more than four years since Noel Clarke last directed a movie. He had a triple whammy of writer-producer credits in 2012 with Fast Girls, Storage 24 and The Knot. Now he's back behind the camera, parlaying his Storage 24 and Star Trek Into Darkness experience into a low-budget but high-concept science fiction thriller.

Back in July last year a nationwide casting call was launched to find some new talent for Legacy, a new film from Unstoppable Entertainment and Think Big Productions.

Dani is strong willed, fierce, aggressive yet still lovable, she is protective and more than a match for the groups’ machismo. She’s an attractive tomboy with deep-rooted femininity issues exacerbated by her elder sister Yasmin.
21 year old Franz Drameh (represented by Hamilton Hodell) plays Sean, the unspoken leader of the group.

Isabella and Mouch are strictly professional, but something sparks between Isabella and one of Mouch's firefighting colleagues. Suvari's most-recent credits include American Reunion as well as The Knot alongside Noel Clarke, Mena Suvair and Matthew McNulty. She's in post-production phase on Travis Oates' Last Stop sci-fi horror along with Brian Austin Green, Joanne Kelly, Fiona Gubelmann and Robert Picardo, as well as the A Bet's a Bet comedy, starring with Kristin Chenoweth, Eric Robers, Geoff Stults and Jonathan Silverman.

Altitude Film Entertainment is a U.K.-based vertically integrated film company launched last year by Will Clarke, founder of leading U.K. independent producer and distributor Optimum Releasing (now Studio Canal), with Andy Mayson as joint CEO and former Pathe sales chief Mike Runagall as Managing Director of the international sales company.
Now Managing Director of Altitude Film Sales he says, “We are thrilled to be adding five distinctive, commercial projects to our debut Cannes slate that show a breadth of genre and filmmaking and with the right elements and quality to achieve international reach, and working to build further on the strong buyer response we received at Afm and Berlin for projects we have already brought to market.”
His partner, industry vet Will Clarke, Chairman and CEO of Altitude Film Entertainment says, “Altitude’s first year has phenomenally exciting as we are working with filmmakers who have highly original and ambitious projects. Our second film, Jabbar Raisani’s Outpost 37, is about to start filming and we are looking forward to showing distributors first-ever footage on five of our projects.”
Altitude has been focusing on production, financing and international sales with a strong commercial outlook.
The company’s first creative partnerships are with filmmakers James Watkins (The Woman in Black, Eden Lake) and Simon Duric for The Loch; producer/actor Jason Maza (The Knot, Fish Tank, Welcome to the Punch) and director/actor Nick Nevern (Terry, The Sweeney) on The Hooligan Factory; director Jabbar Raisani for Outpost 37; producer Gregor Cameron (Goin’ Down to South Park, Katy Brand’s Big Ass Show)and Owen Harris (Holy Flying Circus) for Kill Your Friends; and Ben Craig (Modern Times) writer Matt Charman (A Night at the Dogs) to make Mythica.
Altitude is bringing five new films to Cannes:
Son Of A Gun – an epic crime thriller directed by Julius Avery, best known for the Cannes award-winning shortJerrycan, and starring Ewan McGregor (The Impossible, August: Osage County), Alicia Vikander (A Royal Affair, The Fifth Estate, The Seventh Son) and Brenton Thwaites (Maleficent, Oculus,). The high-profile film is a visceral, tautly paced heist thriller, centred on a complex relationship between Australia’s public enemy number one and his young protégé. Started shooting on 25 February in Western Australia. Currently in post-production.
Catch Me Daddy - a taut and uncompromising thriller inspired by the classic character-driven thrillers of the 1970’s and early 80’s (Badlands, The Getaway, Deliverance, Blood Simple, The Friends Of Eddie Coyle). Award-winning commercials and music video director Daniel Wolfe makes his feature debut with a storyabout a couple on the run from the type of violence and crime that the law cannot reach, and overturns the conventions of the thriller genre, with a female lead stepping up as the heroine of the piece. Started shooting on 18 March in the UK. Currently in post-production.
Outpost 37 - a high concept, sci-fi, action film marking the directorial debut of La-based director and Visual FX maestro Jabbar Raisani (Game of Thrones, Iron Man, Predators). Jason Newmark (Triangle, Severance) and Laurie Cook produce for Bigscope alongside Trevor Engelson for Underground Entertainment (Remember Me). Will Clarke, Andy Mayson and Mike Runagall executive produce for Altitude. Filming starts on 14 May. Co-written by Raisani with Blake Clifton, the film centres on a documentary crew as they follow an elite unit of marines, tasked with protecting mankind in the aftermath of a devastating alien invasion. As they reach the world’s most dangerous outpost they make a terrifying discovery; the first invasion was just the beginning.
The Good People - the highly anticipated original dark and malevolent fairytale chiller to be directed by Corin Hardy, a Screen International Star of Tomorrow and director of brilliant short films and music videos (The Prodigy, Keane, Paolo Nutini). Scientist, Adam, moves with his family to an ancient Millhouse in the Irish countryside. But what seems a rural idyll soon becomes a terrifying fight for survival when the couple comes under attack from horrifying and demonic creatures that lurk in the woods, hell bent on destroying them all. Co-written by Hardy with Olga Barreneche, Joe Neurauter and Felipe Marino of Occupant Entertainment (The Wackness and All The Boys Love Mandy Lane) produce. Altitude is handling international sales and financial packaging on this project.
Kill Your Friends - a satirical and hysterically funny evisceration of the music industry set against the iconic backdrop of Cool Britannia and the Britpop era of late 1990’s London, based on John Niven’s cult novel which he is adapting for the screenplay. BAFTA award-winner Owen Harris (Misfits, Holy Flying Circus) is to direct withRafe Spall (Prometheus,Life of Pi, I Give It A Year) cast in the lead role. Gregor Cameron is producing alongside Altitude. The film is set to start shooting this summer.

Storage 24 (2012) Prolific British writer, director, actor and more Noel Clarke returns in his 4th film of 2012, science fiction horror thriller “Storage 24”, directed by Johannes Roberts, helmer of a variety of other home grown shriekers including “F”, “Forest of the Damned” and “Hellbreeder”. Clarke (soon to be seen in the forthcoming “Star Trek into Darkness”) headlines and also co-wrote the film with supporting cast member Davie Fairbanks, their second collaboration of the year along with the utterly dire and merit-free wedding ‘comedy’ “The Knot”. Thankfully, the film is a very different and much more entertaining proposition indeed, and following a successful run in domestic cinemas now lands on region 2 Blu Ray and DVD through Universal, coming with a reasonable clutch of special features including docs on the production and effects, plus video cast video diaries for those who care. Clarke stars as Charlie, a rather dull and depressed young...

Is a lower 12A certificate responsible for Taken 2 grossing more in the UK in a weekend than the entire run of its predecessor?
The winner
When Taken debuted in the UK in September 2008 with £1.17m, the Liam Neeson action film proved a surprise word-of-mouth hit with audiences, its box office dropping just 6% the following weekend, and eventually achieving a healthy total of 5.5 times its opening number (£6.39m). The film went on to be a robust performer on DVD. In other words, all the planets looked felicitously aligned for the sequel, and industry expectations for commercial performance were appropriately high.
Even so, the success of Taken 2 has caught commentators by surprise. With £6.19m over the three-day weekend, and £7.38m including Thursday previews, the Istanbul-set film has already grossed more than the entire UK run of the original Taken. If previews are discounted from opening weekend figures (as they should...

Some worthy-sharing revelations from Brit renaissance man, Noel Clarke, lifted from an interview he did with Den Of Geek, while doing pressfor his latest film, The Knot, which opened in the UK over the weekend. First, recall the project that would be set in the world of Mma (Mixed Martial Arts for the uninitiated), which he announced last year, with plans to direct and star (he'd been working on the script for 2 years, he said at the time). The film, which was to be set in both in the UK and the Us, was to be "in the vein of The Wrestler, The Fighter and Rocky," described as a "character driven film about a down on his luck Mma fighter who...

Set in London on the wedding day of a working-class Spanish couple's beautiful daughter (Mena Suvari) and the laddish son (Matthew McNulty) of a snobbish middle-class English family, The Knot is an offensive anthology of every loud, lewd and loathsome wedding joke staged or screened between The Taming of the Shrew and The Hangover. There's searching for the ring in a blocked toilet bowl, the future groom waking up in bed with a transvestite and a king-size dildo, the best man caught smoking weed in the bathroom, the outrageous gay hairdresser, the chirpy American bridesmaid revealed as a lesbian, the matron of honour leaving the hen party with a male stripper, the bridesmaid sitting on a broken champagne glass in the stretch limo, the groom getting into a fight after being dropped off at the wrong church, the groom's loony old aunt who doesn't wear knickers falling over while jumping...

Liberal Arts (12A)
(Josh Radnor, 2012, Us) Josh Radnor, Elizabeth Olsen, Richard Jenkins, 97 mins
University applications could well go into terminal decline as a result of this irritatingly winsome comedy, in which an archetypal New York slacker returns to his alma mater, meets an archetypal free-spirited young student (Olsen) and relives his lost youth of music, books and self-absorbed pseudo-intellectual chit chat. It's like Woody Allen without the wit.

Crass, unfunny, charmless and speckled with moments of awfulness, this is relentlessly bad
The title of this British wedding rom-com refers to tying the knot. Having sat through it, the only knot I cared about was one securing the noose with which I wanted to hang myself. It is relentlessly bad: crass, unfunny, charmless and speckled with embarrassing lad-mag moments of awfulness. Matthew McNulty (Joe Lampton from the recent TV Room at the Top) plays the groom and Talulah Riley his beautiful but stressed bride; Noel Clarke plays one of the groom's stag-night mates and Mena Suvari plays an American cousin. There are some gross-out toilet moments that I suspect are inspired by the recent Us hit Bridesmaids, but that movie had laughs and a lot of heart. The Knot, sadly, has neither.

Arriving in theatres in the UK and Ireland tomorrow, The Knot sees Noel Clarke (Kidulthood, Storage 24) starring alongside an excellent cast, headed up by Mena Suvari (American Pie), Matthew McNulty (Misfits), and Talulah Riley (Pride & Prejudice).
Jesse Lawrence is making his feature directorial debut, and ahead of the film’s release, three inter-linked red-band trailers have been released to give you a taste of what to expect.
“Soulmates Alexandra (Talulah Riley) and Jeremy (Matthew McNulty) are getting married. At least that’s the plan. Unfortunately for them, nonchalant best man Peter (Noel Clarke), bridesmaid Sarah (Mena Suvari) and an army of naysayers haven’t heard they’re meant to be together. Can missing bridesmaids, crashed cars, a trip to A&E, and a delivery of pigs testicles stand in the way of true love?”

Mena Suvari would like to move to the UK. The 33-year-old actress spent time here while working on wedding comedy 'The Knot', and she had such a great time in Britain she would consider relocating in the future - especially to London because it is so ''vivacious''. She said: ''I haven't had much time to do much sightseeing but I did manage to do a road trip in a mini to Stonehenge. Mena Suvai is probably best known for her work in the American Pie movies and American Beauty but she recently turned her hand to a UK based comedy called The Knot (out tomorrow 5th October) which has been written by Noel Clarke of Adulthood fame. She takes on the role as Sarah in the film which was directed by Jesse Lawrence for his first feature film.
I got to chat with Mena about her role in the movie, what it was about it that attracted her to it, working in the UK and what it is she loves so much about it. I ask her about her previous work, what she gets recognised for most and how she found working with the British team that has worked with Clarke for such a long time now.

★☆☆☆☆ Hoping to emulate some of the success of surprise 2011 hit Bridesmaids and even Nigel Cole's The Wedding Video (2012), Jesse Lawrence's The Knot (2012) creeps into UK cinemas this week with a trail of negative press following in its wake. Unlike the universally-panned Keith Lemon: The Film (2012), the team behind The Knot were at least brave enough to screen their gross-out British comedy to the national press ahead of its release. Unfortunately, such a gesture is unlikely to dissuade audiences from condemning the film to their 'Worst of 2012' shortlists.

The proverbial cutting room floor, fodder for DVD and Blu-ray extras. I haven't seen Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance (released last year) and certainly haven't touched the DVD or Blu-ray to know what special features/extras each contains. Those of you who have may already be aware of this; in an interview this morning with the BBC, plugging the UK theatrical release of his rom-com The Knot, Noel Clarke revealed that he had a role in Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance, but his scenes were completely gutted from the finished film that many of you saw. In fact, he's not even listed in the credits - at least, not on the film's IMDb page of credits. So,...

Strong ticket sales is welcome news for cinema chains, and marks a benchmark for Joseph Gordon-Levitt in lead role
The winner
Just when it looked as if September was going to go by without a single film opening above £2m, Looper arrives to kick some much-needed life into a sickly UK box office. Its three-day gross of £2.43m is hardly record-shattering, but following a run of films opening around or under £1m – Killing Them Softly, The Sweeney, Dredd, Lawless, Anna Karenina – it is welcome news for the nation's cinema chains. It's also a new benchmark for Joseph Gordon-Levitt in a lead role. Premium Rush recently debuted with a disappointing £115,000 from 159 cinemas. Last November, 50/50, co-starring Seth Rogen, kicked off with £410,000 from 228 venues. In 2009, (500) Days of Summer began its run with £1.24m, including £383,000 in previews. Debuts of films such as Inception and The Dark Knight Rises, where Gordon-Levitt is not the lead actor,...

(Leos Carax, 2012, Fra) Denis Lavant, Edith Scob, Eva Mendes, Kylie Minogue, 116 mins
A freewheeling lunatic love letter to cinema, or a self-indulgent headscratcher that's not worth trying to decipher? Carax's episodic odyssey dazzles and mystifies in equal quantities. Life, death, cinema: it's all interchangeable here, as Lavant cruises Paris in his limousine/mobile dressing room, assuming wildly different roles for unspecified "clients". The wheels threaten to come off with every swerve, but it's an occasionally astounding drive on the wild side.
Looper (15)
(Rian Johnson, 2012, Us) Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Bruce Willis, Emily Blunt. 118 mins
As he did with high-school movie Brick, Johnson takes a tired genre into fresh territory here, with a time-travel sci-fi that's smart, original, exciting and destined for cult status. Gordon-Levitt and Willis play young and old versions of the same assassin, with Gordon-Levitt having to either kill his older self or team up with him to bring down a dodgy system.

Timing is everything. So it seems strange to meet Mena Suvari the day after director Jason Reitman assembled a starry cast to perform a live reading of Sam Mendes's American Beauty at this year's Toronto Film Festival. Our encounter is to speak about her latest film, The Knot, a raucous British marital comedy co-written by Noel Clarke, but it's impossible not to think of Suvari back then. Along with playing the demure Heather in hit teen comedy American Pie, Mendes's 1999 Oscar-winner changed her world. Nominated for a Bafta, this wide-eyed blonde literally became the film's unforgettable poster girl – her modesty protected by just a few strategically placed rose petals.

The more I see of it, the more I feel The Knot is going to be quite bloody great. We’ve just been sent an interactive trailer, which basically is three trailers in one. Make sure to go with the girls as well as going with the guys at the end, as thats where the real red band kicks in! Quality stuff Synopsis: Soul mates Alexandra (Talulah Riley) and Jeremy (Matthew McNulty) are getting married. At least that's the plan. Unfortunately for them, nonchalant best man Peter (Noel Clarke), bridesmaid Sarah (Mena Suvari) and an army of naysayers haven't heard they're meant to be together. Can missing bridesmaids, crashed cars, a trip to A&E, and a delivery of pig’s testicles stand in the way of true love? Released: October 5th (Ire&UK) Via Universal...

British movies surrounding events like Weddings and Funerals and what not are generally really watchable, likeable and funny. Well, if this trailer is anything to go by, then you can add The Knot to that list. But there seems to be that “British” thing about it, that makes it cheeky and snappy too which will suit the blokes as well.
