Season 2
JSH_Hooligans16 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I watch this season only because of Freydis and Leif only they or more precisely only Freydis reminds me of the real Viking from the era of Ragnar. Only she has that madness in her Viking eyes that touches you, with the nostalgia for Ragnar, Ivar, Biorn, and Lagertha as well.

In the future I hope you improve Leif's character a bit because you are overdoing how tender loving and vulnerable "romeo" he is. I understand that it's not Ragnar, but this is a series about Vikings, not some romance. It's like telling me that Ragnar will cry over some woman he had an affair with for a day on a ship, come on, be a little more serious.

Good ending but there is something that bothered me!

Warning: Spoilers
I love how they didn't butcher freydis's role like they did to floki in original Vikings cuz I thought she is going to be just like floki with her beliefs and stuff at the beginning of the sebut they tuned it around pretty well.

Leif's journey to learn languages and learn more about the world is good touch and the beginning of turning the Vikings into knowledgeable human beings (in other words turning vikings into Scandinavian humans with decent knowledge)

Harald's journey to become the king of Norway is nice since this season was full of challenges that faced him and he is still pushing without surrendering.

Now to the part that bothered me. Leif falling in love with Mariam was nice and made sense after Liv's death but Harald falling in love with Eleana while Freydis is still alive and she has his child was so stupid and made no sense at all. I mean why would he fall in love with a woman after just recently hearing that he has a child. I know that Freydis didn't want Harald to be by her side since she doesn't want a christian child to rule over pagans and the show wants you to think that they will never be back together again. But let's be real they will at some point. The differences between religions can be sorted out and they could live together, even if that means travelling every now and then between Kattegat and Jomsburg back and forth.

Anyways my point is that you can't make a character fall in love with another when that character just recently left his girlfriend and his son. Falling in love with someone else would be acceptable if they gave us time to believe that he has really forgotten about his girlfriend and started a new love life. What they did was too rushed and didn't make us believe that he's over his old girlfriend and child.

Season Two Review
southdavid7 April 2023
I enjoyed the original "Vikings" series and the first season of the spin off that appeared last year. I'd say I felt positively about this second run, rather than actively enjoyed it and I'll get into why.

Harald (Leo Suter) and Leif (Sam Corlett) head to Novgorod, hoping to gather forces to install Harald as King of Norway. Unable to buy an army, Prince Yaroslav (Marcin Dorocinski) Harald's Uncle, offers him a chance to earn more gold, by escorting precious cargo to Constantinople, which he agrees too. Freydis (Frida Gustavsson) heads to Jomsborg, a near mythical Viking stronghold still holding fast to the ancient pagan ways.

I think my problem with this series, over the first, is that I'm not exactly sure what any of our characters are working towards. The first season was easy, revenge for the massacre and to establish a new Danish King in England. This has three main storylines, the two detailed above and another one in London, regarding just how loyal, or not, Earl Godwin is to his Queen. None of the three stories really progress all that much over the entire run and only really Harald's has a clear objective that facilities a wider aim. It's not that these other stories are bad, it's more that - particularly with the London storyline, it felt to me like it only featured because we've already established these characters and we might want to use them again.

Let's not go overboard, with the criticism. The series is still good and I'll be around for season three, I just wish that it was a little more focused.

Odyssey Of Emotions - Season 2 Review
JoshuaMercott24 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
First Impressions:

An upgrade in several ways to what came before, the second season of "Vikings: Valhalla" captured the bloody life and time of Vikings, and didn't colour too far outside the historical lines when doing so.

The show also boasted praiseworthy detailing, exceptional performances, and emotion-packed moments. It will make any Viking fan appreciate what the team did with this next leg of the journey.

Story Analysis:

Beautifully recreated 'olden lands' that once belonged to Vikings and Byzantines weren't the only wonders that awaited me in "Vikings: Valhalla" season 2. Elegant pacing, diligent characterization, admirable music, and remarkable acting all added up to a superb sequel.

They did not waste time picking up where events left off in the first season. Olaf Haraldsson was captured and being taken to Kattegat to face Forkbeard's justice. Leif Eriksson was on his trail to fulfil his own agenda. Meanwhile, Freydis Eriksdotter and Harald Sigurdsson were branching out their own character arcs. And London was boiling with political uncertainty.

The individual character arcs of Leif Eriksson (ghosts of his past, opium addiction, Mariam) and Freydis Eriksdotter (pregnancy, prophecy, purpose) were amazing to watch. They were grappling with so much and still seeking their own path and purpose in the world. I personally felt their characters received the best attention this season.

Olaf Haraldsson (cunning, playing the long game) and Harald Sigurdsson's (ambition, seeking justice, making risky allies) storylines were gripping and held great promise. Plenty of suspense revolved around those two. I felt much the same about what they did for Emma of Normandy (besieged, conflicted), Earl Godwin (dark agendas, silent schemes), and Mariam (wisdom, romance, loss) this season.

Hair-makeup and costume design were great. Stunts were remarkable. VFX and editing were amazing. Art direction and set decoration were superb. Musical scoring was outstanding. Cinematography was engaging. Screenplay was great. Direction was admirable.

Final Notes:

From opponents like the Pechenegs to a perilous trip to Constantinople, not to forget a whole bevy of new characters, season 2 was shaping up to be quite entertaining. It also delivered some great action sequences and political intrigue.

Though this season was relatively slower and contained comparatively less action compared to the first one, it nevertheless entertained. A bold and crisp storyline with captivating characterization added to its enduring worth, enough to make me want to see more in the next season.

I was surprised how much the writers revealed and yet how much they still had left to do so. Such clever screenplay coupled with diligent direction made season 2 of "Vikings: Valhalla" enthralling till the end.

All in all, this season sailed steady. It came packed with historically re-imagined and dramatized Viking-era elements as well. More than a few meaningful and heart-wrenching moments further bejewelled season 2 of "Vikings: Valhalla".

From bad to worse
BoulosSoueileh16 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
First let's change the tags and genre of this series from " Action" to "Drama, Romantic, Adventure".

Is this what we wait every year ? 8 episodes, bad action, bad performance and worst accent you'll ever hear.

8 episodes, 0 battles, boring fight, to be honest season shouldn't be here, bad writing, didn't move the main story forward, so slow, 4 episodes talking about the barbarians and when they showed up they were outbattled by 3 women. Maryam journey come short, she didn't make to the city, you get to know and introduce a good character in episode 3 just to be killed in episode 8 for the character development of Leif.

The three girls have no story at all and no reason to reach Constantinople.

Freydis story is one of the worst.

How many times you thought she will be killed? None. In order to be like the real viking and get compared to Game of thrones you have to sacrifice some of your characters, they won't always survive the fight. The last battle was even worst than the 1970 battle.

A filler season
alexleizerovichcoaching23 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Man they have outdone themselves. I thought that season 1 was average at best. It felt like leftovers from the last 2 seasons of Vikings which were weak compared to Ragnar's seasons. Still season 1 had half interesting story.

Then comes season 2 and it's a total filler season. There isn't really a main story that makes you interested. Canute is away most of the season so nothing there. Then you have Harald that's is travelling around Rus and on his way to Constantinople. There are no battles there just some side story. The story in England is also pretty boring. They just turned Emma which was a good character to some weird paranoid Queen. It's totally out of character for her.

And finally you get Freidis which supposed to be the new Lagertha. Cause you know they want to draw female viewers of course. The problem is the actress is weak compared to the great Katheryn. They also made her do some cringe accent. And don't get me started with the fate of Olaf which is totally inaccrute historically. How can you kill off a historical character before he becomes the King of Norway as it actually happend?

This shows pains me as a Norwegian
jonvegard28 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Vikings was never known for its accurate depiction of history, but God damn, dude.

In the first show, they turned Harald Finehair, our first king, into some lovesick puppy.

And now they kill off Olav Haraldsson - Saint Olav - before they even reach what's quite possibly the most important battle in Norwegian viking history.

His journey alone would be worthy of a show, but here they end up bastardizing it. Let's hope they make it interesting with his son, Magnus, which should hopefully tie up with Denmark. Then Harald can come in and become the king we know him as.

This show is just historical fan fiction, nothing more.

This season is useless 🤔
aalahmari-0382920 February 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This season wasn't great as the season 1 . Everything happen this season was useless when you see Fraides as icon of old god she lost her power as warrior . They forgot Harled and Leaf and let them in inside story in this season . The story of england was so weak and nothing new about it with all impossible chances to make great conflict in the story . Olaf was great character 1 season but in the 2 was useless like babysitter with Svin . Kateget was iconic place in Viking world but i think they let it normal without any importance . One of the worst things this season there is not fight scene which is make it boring season.
