They all float down here. Except, apparently, on Los Angeles Unified School District campuses.
For the second year in a row, the LAUSD has banned all clown costumes and masks for Halloween. That includes, of course, what’s expected to be the most popular Halloween costume of the year: Pennywise, from the blockbuster smash thriller “It.”
Clowns are actually having a moment in pop culture, as FX’s hit series “American Horror Story: Cult” is crawling with them. (And, of course, had previously introduced the now-iconic clown Twisty on “American Horror Story: Freak Show.”) Krusty the Clown from “The Simpsons” and Zach Galiafianakis’ Chip Baskets continue on the comedy side.
And even reality competition shows aren’t immune to a little song, a little dance, a little seltzer down your pants, as “Puddles Pity Party” (real name: Mike Geier) was a contender on this year’s “America’s Got Talent.

Chicago – Film reviewing can be a blood sport – not everything is a highfalutin art night at the cinema. The three reviewers of HollywoodChicago.com – Patrick McDonald, Spike Walters and Jon Espino – did spend some time wasting energy on some really bad movies in 2016, and lived to tell about it.

To this day, even while writing this, I get a stomach ache recalling how prodigiously disgusting “Dirty Grandpa” turned out to be.

The Vampire Diaries' midseason premiere, "Woke Up with a Monster," certainly gave fans a lot of options as to who might meet an impending and untimely end in the near future.
As the series begins its sprint to the season finale, characters both beloved and brand new stared down death.
Star Paul Wesley directed the episode, which picked up directly after Kai (Chris Wood) abducted Elena (Nina Dobrev) and as Caroline (Candice Accola) struggled to accept her mother's cancer diagnosis. Even amid those merciless circumstances, Elena and Sheriff Forbes (Marguerite MacIntyre) weren't the only folks in Mystic Falls whose lives were in peril.

Whether it was through R.L. Stine’s popular and indeed extensive horror book series or via the camp television show of the same name, it’s almost inevitable that you experienced Goosebumps in some shape or form throughout the course of the 90s. Now, almost 22 years after the first novel hit the shelves, Sony is working on introducing the franchise to a modern day audience through a live-action film, and today we got our first look at some of the ghostly ghouls and malevolent clowns that will be making up the film’s roster of monsters.
The images, which you can feast your eyes on in the gallery below, include a colorful collection of baddies, and are exactly the brand of monsters that no doubt haunted your nightmares in your younger years — demonic clowns and reanimated mummies, to name but a few. Moreover, there are things floating around that must be collected to get better scores in each level. Use the arrow keys to drive and balance the monster truck in the […]...

Julie Chen says the phrase, "It's a double eviction" the way the doctor in "Love Story" tells us Jenny has leukemia. Grim, unsmiling, heavy monotone -- and she's right to establish the stakes. Slappy the Dummy, Monster Blood, the HorrorLand clan: these are just a few antagonists from R. L. Stine’s popular Goosebumps book series that may still send a nostalgic shiver down your spine. Though we don’t know for certain which creatures will appear in the upcoming Goosebumps movie, there’s a good chance we’ll find out during Comic-Con, as a panel featuring clips of the monster creation process for the Goosebumps film has been announced, with Jack Black as one of the guests.
Columbia Pictures will have a Goosebumps movie panel at the Hilton Bayfront’s Indigo Ballroom on Thursday, July 24th from 12:30pm – 1:30pm with director Rob Letterman and the actor who will portray R. L. Stine: Jack Black. According to Deadline, the two panelists, who have previously collaborated on Shark Tale and Gulliver’s Travels, will reveal clips of the monster-making process.

Michael Fassbender and Lupita Nyong’o of 12 Years a Slave were two of the 271 artists and industry leaders invited to become members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, which determines nominations and winners at the annual Oscars. The entire list of Academy membership—which numbers about 6,000—isn’t public information so the annual invitation list is often the best indication of the artists involved in the prestigious awards process. It’s worth noting that invitations need to be accepted in order for artists to become members; some artists, like two-time Best Actor winner Sean Penn, have declined membership over the years.

Pop quiz: What do Chris Rock, Claire Denis, Eddie Vedder and Josh Hutcherson all have in common? Answer: They could all be Oscar voters very soon. The annual Academy of Motion Pictures Arts & Sciences invitation list always makes for interesting reading, shedding light on just how large and far-reaching the group's membership is -- or could be, depending on who accepts their invitations. This year, 271 individuals have been asked to join AMPAS, meaning every one of them could contribute to next year's Academy Awards balloting -- and it's as diverse a list as they've ever assembled. Think the Academy consists entirely of fusty retired white dudes? Not if recent Best Original Song nominee Pharrell Williams takes them up on their offer. Think it's all just a Hollywood insiders' game? Not if French arthouse titans Chantal Akerman and Olivier Assayas join the party. It's a list that subverts expectation at every turn.

A Goosebumps movie has been on the cards for a while now, but the project has really started to pick up some momentum under director Rob Letterman. A recently released synopsis for the film revealed that it would not be a straight adaptation of one single R. L. Stine story, but like Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed would instead form a sort of greatest-hits mash-up.
In Goosebumps, upset about moving from a big city to a small town, teenager Zach Cooper (Dylan Minnette) finds a silver lining when he meets the beautiful girl, Hannah (Odeya Rush), living right next door. But every silver lining has a cloud, and Zach’s comes when he learns that Hannah has a mysterious dad who is revealed to be R. L. Stine (Jack Black), the author of the bestselling Goosebumps series.

However, a lot of lookbacks at the Spectrum era tend to focus on the big highlights. What I wanted to do here is put together a personal listing of 50 titles that don't seem to get that much attention.

“3D Nurse-Monster Cleavage Makes Me Moist” Or “Silent Hill: Revelation 3D”
Disclaimer: The Following Information Is for Entertainment Purposes Only. 100% Medically (and Factually) Inaccurate, (contrary to what the Centipede told you). Greetings True Believers!
I haven’t been this pleasantly surprised since that time I woke up on a snow-bank, nuzzled comfortably between your Mom and that Yeti… twice.
I will start out by shamefully admitting that I have not played any of the Silent Hill games. However, I know that Konami (the dudes that made Contra) is/are awesome and anything they’re involved in/with has my seal of approval. I know they were Heavily involved with the making of the first film that came out in ’06.
So, in relation to the first film, I think Revelation has equal or greater value. It works well as a stand-alone film and as a sequel. It gives enough of the back-story of Pt.

With all the attention being paid these days to zombies, vampires and werewolves, you know what classic horror archetype isn't getting enough love? The Frankenstein Monster. Fortunately, a young animator by the name of Zach Bellissimo is trying to do something about that. Bellissimo has created a fantastic short called Blenderstein!, which offers a hilarious new take on Mary Shelley's creation, combining the macabre sensibility of Tim Burton with the manic style and energy of Ren & Stimpy creator John Kricfalusi. And the best part is that you can watch Blenderstein! for free right after the jump! Pretty cool, huh? Bellissimo lives and works in New York City, where he...
