Guess What?

This was hands down the best episode this season thus far. This episode has a good taste of what makes this show great.

I remember feeling the same way about season 3. It took a few episodes to really keep my attention.

Baby Colin is really growing on me.

Two words... Nandor's eyebrows.

best ep of the season so far

While last weeks episode was certainly a spectacle (and we love her for it) this is the funniest the show has been for a while. Bringing the show back to its roots of putting the vamps in human scenarios is definitely the move.

Best episode of S3 and 4 combined! Reminded me of the first two seasons. Even had a great cameo. I wish there are more episodes like this in the future. Loved it!

So funny

This was definitely the funniest episode in this season. I laughed so hard I was crying! It's always the funniest when they pretend to be human. We need more of them! :D.

Best Episode of the Season

This episode restored my hope for season 4. It brought the gang back together interacting with each other instead of off doing separate adventures and shenanigans. The chemistry between the actors really shows when they're all sharing a scene. Well done!

Maternity/Paternity Play?

One of the funniest episodes with creepy Colin and his "family".

It kinda gave me a headache, in a good way.

The Jinn was definitely put to the task with each ask...

Education
Hitchcoc1 October 2022
Baby Collin has reached an age where he uses a ball peen hammer to knock the walls out of the vampire house. It is decided that he needs order in his life and going to school will take care of that. A poor headmaster from an exclusive school is brought in to evaluate his enrollment possibilities. Of course, their efforts are so insane that they have to keep hypnotizing him over and over when they make "mistakes." All in all, this is a very funny episode. As the gang changes their assumed roles, their dialogue is better and better. As usual, Guillarmo, the one with the commons sense, is not listened to. Excellent episode.

Private School

Warning: Spoilers
A one joke premise, but there was a lot of interesting stuff and some good goofy comedy here. I think the show is starting to run its course a bit, but you still laugh which is more than you can say about most comedies these days.

comic premise wears off too fast

This seems to be a very popular episode but I don't see it. The comedy of trying to get Lil Colin into a prestigious school worked at first, but it simply didn't have the oomph to sustain an entire episode.

I never liked Colin before this and agreed with the writers that something had to be done about how annoying and poorly integrated with the rest of the cast he was, but the whole fast-growing-baby schtick is a classic sign of a series' desperation. They even used it on Star Trek!

However, I was pleased to see that Guillermo is embezzling from Nadja's vampire club. It's about time he got some payback.

Best episode by far! They're all finally on the same storyline. Back together in an amazing way too. This episode was hilarious! I'll be watching it again. Had some really funny parts and a great surprise guest. Everyone brought their A game, it's for sure a collective episode. They all worked together for some really funny moments. I loved it! And I'm so happy I decided to watch it before work because it made my day laughing so early haha!

How far the mighty have fallen

Warning: Spoilers
I have nothing but respect for the creators and actors of WWDITS, but I'm sorry, this episode was *painfully* unfunny. I thought the Familiar battles last week were a sign of things moving upward, but this week was dismal. The interview interruptions joke stopped being funny after the first few, and the whole Guiellermo embezzlement bit followed by a bribe attempt was just lame. I so miss the real Colin Robinson, and I miss the original focus on the housemate relationships. Guillermo was entertaining as both a sad sack familiar and as a kick-ass slayer, but not feeling him now. Please tap into your roots!!!!

Returning to form!

If you were losing hope because of the rocky start to the 4th season of this series, this episode will give you reason to rejoice.

The writers of this episode created something very memorable.

Better yet, they developed the show's storyline in a lot of interesting ways.

As a big fan of this comedy, I was so relieved at the end of this episode because I had begun to wonder if the quality of writing was falling off a cliff after the first three episodes of the season.

The opening episode had been particularly bad in my opinion, so it is deeply heartening to see the show still has enormous potential.

Hopefully, the makers of What We Do in the Shadows will take a careful look at the reviews for each episode of season four when it concludes.

They could then use that insight to see where they went really wrong, as well as identifying scripts like Private School that really shine.

My favorite episode!
emmaruthkg11 January 2024
This episode is my absolute favorite of all time. It is hilarious to watch the vampire household attempt to fit into the heteronormative (or potentially not) nuclear family structure for baby Collin's private school interview. The writers are turning expectations on their heads as they examine what we expect out of family systems and ultimately reject heteronormativity while also poking fun at the way the mainstream has expropriated queerness for its own uses. The fact that the vampires have to redo the interview over and over again only serves to make it more funny as the various family structures are mixed up to dizzying degrees.
