why deb?
Calicodreamin22 July 2022
A great group of glassblowers that made some truly beautiful pieces, but of course deb had to come in and be truly rude. Like who are you to judge someone's concept of self?

disappointment
sma9627 July 2022
5/10 for the hard work. Most of the pieces are incredibly beautiful.

The important thing is that Deborah doesn't fit as a judge. She or they or whatever is extremally biased and arrogant. She couldn't understand or appreciate any piece that didn't represent the artist's sexuality or culture :) I call that stupid.

Great Glass Blowing, horrible GUEST judge.

The glass they all made was great. I agree with everyone else that Deb is horrible but she is a GUEST judge for episode 1 Only so just get through this episode and keep watching.

Color me impressed!

As a fan of the show, I've seen the two previous seasons (including the dreaded Christmas special), I can honestly say that this episode showcased the best pieces in the final presentation of any single episode thus far. Every piece demonstrated outstanding technical skill and/or concept design and it was hard for me to choose which one was the best. Even Claire's piece was very technical and the blue bird was so cute. Compare to previous seasons, there was always one or two competitors that clearly didn't belong in the competition. This season will be a tough competition and I'm looking forward to what they all come up with.

Such a fun inspiring show

Love this show. Glass blowing is so interesting to learn about on top of glimpses into peoples personal lives. Great competition show. Very positive and wholesome, yet keeps you on the edge of your seat. Truly feeling for the contestants if they accidentally drop anything.

Worst judges
Mutaco9027 July 2022
Deborah is very pretentious, rude and has so many double standards. Her judging makes no sense.

I liked the other two seasons, but her judging this season will be unbearable. Way to ruin a show, Netflix.

A Good Start, With One Exception
Hitchcoc16 June 2024
I thought that the diversity of the products was wonderful. Unique colors and designs. I agree with the winner and the loser. The person who left finished too fast and it was quite pedestrian. I will also chime in on Deborah. She is a caustic person. She has almost no tact. Somehow they are all in awe of her. When dealing with people in their first efforts, a bit of kindness wouldn't hurt. This is a tough composition. To put people down and say they have left nothing to the observer is very harsh. I'm glad she is on the season's first show because that would mean she probably won't be back. Maybe there is a football player out there to replace her (sarcasm).

Taking a star off for bringing Deb back
violet-923433 August 2022
Loved the new artists but please send Deborah away. She is rude, condescending, and egotistical. She brings nothing to the show. Still not sure how she won the first season let alone is qualified to be a judge.

Judge doesn't understand assignment
ayzgacnffj31 July 2022
The guest judge was the winner from season 1. The assignment for the contestants was " create a piece that tell the story of your evolution as artists."

The guest judge "I don't like it. He is telling us what to think"

How dare men tell us what to think. He should have told the story of his evolution as an artist in such a way I can interpret it the way "I" want, not the way the he sees himself. 🙄

And this is what drags this show down.

I like this show but deb is insufferable.
nashzahn1 August 2022
She is very biased in her judging and is often times down right rude about peoples work. She makes the show almost unbearable to watch. Please don't have her back on as a judge.

-6 stars for just having Deborah as a judge
gogreen-318155 August 2022
She is not an effective judge.

She imposes her own views and preferences to the pieces and doesn't follow the criteria unless she likes a piece.

Everytime I see Deborah on screen since season 1, I always end up angry and annoyed because she doesn't know how to be impartial.

Used to be an amazing show...
rebecka-kathryn4 August 2022
I was hooked on seasons 1 and 2. I didn't even mind Deb as a competitor then... But she is just straight up mean as a judge and I may not finish the show. She doesn't judge skill or technical talent but does harshly criticize the literal vision of each artist. Calling a woman's dedication to her deceased husband "cliche" is not a good look Deb. Almost every comment Deb made was about someone's expression of their own identity as an artist being too "simple." Ugh.

Weak season
kylebarney-9137131 July 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Poor producing, reading the subreddit made it clear this was a rough season all around from the cherry picked winner, whose work was literally always praised by judges, but viewers hated in comparison. Plus the judging was so arbitrary they would put someone in the and and top for the same reason. Some episodes simple is revolutionary and you re-conceptualized the mundane, other episodes simple is sending you home because you didn't push yourself enough. I saw a comment in the sub Reddit saying the judging should be blind and I couldn't agree more. Imagine the judges faces when they accidentally send home their favorite, but also because the art should speak for itself the artist shouldn't get to sell it too you right before they decide who is going home.

Probably not going...
Pegasus-1017 August 2022
to influence the producers if there is a 4th season, but: I agree Deb was a negative in this episode. Since another reviewer mentioned she was only in this show, it seems safe to continue to watch. I think most of us watch to see the process and the final pieces, not be bored with a sob story about the contestant's life travails (and glass being non-binary? Really?) Obviously the comments were filmed at the end of the show since in previous seasons the people all wore the same clothes for all their comments outside of the actual work. At least the poorest presentation in this episode cost the person their spot.
