“Ntf:wtf?,” the upcoming documentary from BAFTA-winning filmmaker David Shulman about the world of Non-Fungible Tokens and their impact on the art market, has been acquired by Netflix for the U.K.
The feature — which features interviews with the likes of Damien Hirst — explores how NFTs changed lives, alongside the course of art and entertainment. From the worlds of CryptoPunks, Bored Ape Yacht Club and celebrity collectors, to current industry leaders and the community of collectors, the film talks exclusively to the key architects of the Nft movement. It also features its founders, including early adopters such as Snoop Dog and digital artists like Beeple (Mike Winkelmann), whose Everydays collection was bought by an Nft investor for $69 million, and Mad Dog Jones.
In the film, co-produced by Josh Berger’s Battersea Entertainment and Atomized Studios (“Real Mo Farah”), Hirst discusses his Nft project The Currency, which was launched as a series...

It was a big night for Irish talent at this year’s British version of the Emmys, the BAFTA TV Awards, which were doled out at the Royal Festival Hall in London. Hosted by Romesh Ranganathan and Rob Beckett, two Irish series — – “Bad Sisters” and “Derry Girls” — won a pair of prizes as did the telefilm “I Am Ruth.”
“Derry Girls” won Best Scripted Comedy for its fourth and final season, which was a lovely parting gift for writer and creator Lisa McGee. The show beat out “Ghosts,” “Big Boys,” and “Am I Being Unreasonable?” although the latter did pick up the prize for Best Comedy Actor for 14-year-old Lenny Rush. He edged out Matt Berry (“What We Do In The Shadows”), Joseph Gilgun (“Brassic”), Stephen Merchant (“The Outlaws”), Jon Pointing (“Big Boys”), and Daniel Radcliffe (“Weird: The Al Yankovic Story”).

Paddington Bear’s unexpected tea with the late Queen Elizabeth II during the Platinum Jubilee celebrations last year has won the Memorable Moment gong at the BAFTA TV Awards.
The moment beat the finale of Channel 4 comedy Derry Girls, when the people of Northern Ireland overwhelmingly voted for peace in a beautifully shot send-off segment.
Mr Brown said we've won a BAFTA but I'm not quite sure what that means. Bear Awards For Teatime Adventures? How marvellous. Thank you all. #BAFTATVAwards

Ben Whishaw and Ambika Mod, the stars of This is Going to Hurt, have scooped the top acting prizes at this year’s Broadcasting Press Guild Awards, while Derry Girls picked up a double.

When “The Real Mo Farah,” a documentary about the Olympic gold-winning athlete, aired on the BBC in the U.K. last month, it was front page news.
The feature doc, which had been kept so tightly under wraps even some of those working on it didn’t know exactly what it contained, revealed that the story Farah had repeatedly told about his upbringing – on talk shows and in his published autobiography – was a lie. In fact, his real name was Hussein Abdi Kahin and at 9 years old he was torn from his family and trafficked by neighbors from Somaliland to Britain to work, he says, in indentured servitude.

Red Bull Studios (Rbs), one of the producers behind the electrifying documentary “The Real Mo Farah,” have set their next project, titled “The Moment: How Sports Changed the World,” Variety can exclusively reveal.
Directed by Tom Jennings of 1895 Films, “The Moment” is a feature doc that explores the lasting repercussions of the 1995 Rugby World Cup, which was controversially held in South Africa at the tail end of apartheid. At the time, the South African national team (nicknamed the Springboks) had only one Black player – Chester Williams – but ended up winning the tournament in a moment that united the country (pictured above is Mandela congratulating Springbok captain François Pienaar following their win).
“The well-known story is that Nelson Mandela really took a risk with [hosting the Rugby World Cup in 1995] because the Springboks were seen as symbolic of apartheid and they were loathed in South Africa outside of the white nationals,” Red Bull Studios’ global head, Bernadette McDaid,...
