A muse, a mother, a fashionista, an actor, a rock ‘n’ roll icon — it’s hard to describe exactly why Anita Pallenberg remains such a compelling figure more than a half-century after the captivating blonde sang backing vocals on the Rolling Stones’ “Sympathy for the Devil” and starred in movies like “Performance” and “Barbarella.”
The new documentary “Catching Fire: The Story of Anita Pallenberg” delves into both the beautiful and tragic moments of her eventful life with the help of a treasure trove of home movies and interviews, as well as an unpublished memoir penned by Pallenberg and narrated by Scarlett Johansson. The footage is coupled with interviews of the Rolling Stones’ Keith Richards, with whom she had a significant relationship, their children Marlon and Angela Richards, director Volker Schlondorff, who cast her in some of his films, and her former friends and associates.

Over the past couple of decades, the Rolling Stones have looked for any reason to hit the road besides the release of a new album of original songs. They’ve launched tours celebrating their 50th anniversary, reissues of select archival records, the 2016 covers LP Blue & Lonesome, and their 60th anniversary. Some years they headed out on the stadium circuit for no particular reason whatsoever, knowing a Stones tour is a major event in and of itself.
But after a nearly two-year break from touring, the Stones emerged last year with the shockingly great Hackney Diamonds.

Today, The Rolling Stones‘ debut album turned 60. Hats off to Mick Jagger and company for staying together this long against all odds! Here’s a look at their debut album’s triumphs and tragedies.
13. ‘I Just Want to Make Love to You’
The lively rhythm here is ruined by some questionable lyrics. In this song, Jagger compares himself to an enslaved person. It’s tasteless, but what would you expect from the same band that would later give us such racist atrocities as “Brown Sugar” and “Some Girls?” At least this song didn’t hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 like “Brown Sugar” did.
12. ‘You Can Make It If You Try’
Placed near the end of the album, “You Can Make It If You Try” is a self-empowerment song that feels tedious and endless. The Rolling Stones made it. They tried. This song didn’t help them get there.

The Rolling Stones’ No Filter tour continues.
Announced in 2017, the legendary rock band is preparing to return to the stages after taking a break for over two years. The last tour date they performed was November 23, 2021, in Hollywood, Florida.
The tour has faced quite a bit of setbacks. In March 2019, frontman Mick Jagger had to undergo a heart operation, postponing that year’s North American leg of the tour. Then in 2020, much like the rest of the world, the Covid-19 pandemic forced another North American leg postponement. The following year, drummer Charlie Watts had to sit out the rest of 2021 tour dates due to a reported heart surgery. Watts died that year on August 24.
The English rock band hasn’t been on tour since 2021. The upcoming tour in April will be the first tour since Watts’ death.
The No Filter tour will include stops in cities like Seattle, Denver and Los Angeles.

Joel Kinnaman was desperate to work with Nicolas Cage. The pair share the same agent and recently teamed up for the 2023 movie 'Sympathy for the Devil', with Joel , 44,revealed he had been hounding their agent to find them something to work on together. He told The Hollywood Reporter: "I’d actually been on the hunt for something to do with Nic. We have the same agent, and I’d been hounding Andrew [Finkelstein] to find something. Most people are fans of Nic, but I also just have this professional fascination with the courage that he has in how he plays his characters. I wrote this speech for the award I presented to him in Saudi Arabia, and I talked about that. We talk a lot about “acting balls,” and Nic’s acting balls are like watermelons. Saudi Arabian TV actually cut that line. They didn’t want me to say that,...

On paper, the wordless challenge of John Woo’s Silent Night would seem intimidating to most actors, but Joel Kinnaman has always tried to do more with less. The Swedish actor operates with the mindset that the camera can pick up one’s thoughts, and so he tries to trim his lines anytime an opportunity and agreement presents itself. Woo’s first American film in 20 years would prove to be the most extreme version of this exercise, as Kinnaman plays Brian Godlock, a grieving father who stops at nothing to take down the gang that is responsible for killing his young son and taking away his own ability to speak.
Considering the risky premise, Kinnaman felt just enough trepidation to take on the project that has now been received at both ends of the critical spectrum. (The Hollywood Reporter called it “gripping.”)
“If you get it wrong, it can really turn into dog shit.

From internet memes to a slew of movies, this is the Age of Cage, but Nicolas Cage himself revealed that as he approaches his 60th birthday he is taking stock. He told a sold-out audience at the Red Sea Film Festival that he was winding down his film career after 45 years and over 100 films: “I want to do television; maybe Broadway.” His decision – inspired in part by his son showing him “Breaking Bad” — won’t be final, as he has several film projects in the pipeline, including “Sympathy for the Devil,” co-starring festival jury member Joel Kinnaman and a sequel to 2005’s “Lord of War” — “My character’s son grows up and becomes a rival. It’s very Arthurian,” he said.

Yesterday, we published an article detailing Nicolas Cage’s plans to turn away from film acting after his next few movies, a notion he doubled down on in a new interview with Uproxx’s Mike Ryan. But Cage also opened up about potentially getting back in the game should an enjoyable project arise. “I’m not saying no entirely. I’m saying if something came along that I thought had some pop to it, some spark to it, that maybe could be fun for folks to revisit, like a Face/Off 2 or Ghost Rider, that’s another conversation.”
It turns out that Cage has a particular soft spot for Face/Off, mentioning that he hasn’t seen director John Woo, who was once his close friend, in a long time. “Well, John… I haven’t spoken to him in a very long time, but at one time we were pretty close.

Stars: Nicolas Cage, Joel Kinnaman, Kaiwi Lyman | Written by Luke Paradise | Directed by Yuval Adler
Well, my friends… Another day, another Nicholas Cage movie. I seriously don’t know why I do it to myself, but every time I see a Cage movie appear, well I just can’t help myself. I have to watch them just to see just how Nicolas Cage this Nicolas Cage movie could be. Does anyone else have this unhealthy obsession… No? Just me? Oh right.
Sympathy for the Devil tells the story of The Driver (Joel Kinnaman). Tonight The Driver should be with his wife, she is in the hospital giving birth. While parking up at the hospital he is joined by a mysterious man known only as The Passenger (Nicholas Cage). The Driver soon realises he hasn’t been mistaken for an Uber and The Passenger has something nefarious planned for the night ahead.

Sympathy for the Devil is a film directed by Yuval Adler and starring Nicolas Cage and Joel Kinnaman.
This well-crafted film has the unique, expected, and unmatched appeal of seeing Nicolas Cage in his element, in a role tailor-made for him.
The direction and technical aspects are commendable, with the film created solely to showcase the star who shines throughout its duration.
[fvplayer id=”11″] Plot
After being forced to transport a mysterious passenger at gunpoint, a man finds himself caught in a cat-and-mouse game where nothing is as it seems.
Film Review: “Sympathy for the Devil” Sympathy for the Devil
The performance of its star overshadows everything else in the film, making any critique subjective. Do you like Nicolas Cage? Would you enjoy having drinks with him? Then you will enjoy this film because it has ample quality and is well-directed in technical aspects, achieving an attractive neon-toned photography, skillful editing and sound design.

Nicolas Cage is seen sporting a bald head and a full grey beard for his latest role in the upcoming film ‘Dream Scenario’. Recently, A24 and the Toronto International Film Festival shared a first-look image of Cage, 59, in the new film.
The festival announced that ‘Dream Scenario’ will make its world premiere as the opening film for its Platform Program next month.
The film has been described by festival executive Robyn Citizen as a “surrealist satire-comedy” in a TIFF press release, People magazine reported.
In the image, the ‘National Treasure’ star’s ‘Dream Scenario’ character can be seen sporting thin glasses and wearing a large parka with a furry hood over a burnt orange sweater.
The photo shows an SUV in the background with the word ‘Loser’ emblazoned on the side.

A24’s supernatural horror Talk To Me by first time filmmakers Danny and Michael Philippou blew past box office projections grossing over $10 million on 2,340 screens opening weekend. The breakout by the first-time filmmaker brothers and popular YouTubers from Australia was no. six at the domestic box office.
The film was well reviewed as a fresh spin on the possession tale and had great exits with a B+ Cinemascore — pretty much tops for horror, especially indie horror — and A24’s best wide-release Cinemascore ever across all genres.
It’s the distributor’s biggest opening weekend ever since 2018’s Hereditary from Ari Aster, who gave a big shoutout to Talk To Me at Sundance, where it premiered and was snapped up by A24 in a bidding war. Hereditary opened at $13.6 million on 2,900 screens. It’s arguably rather rare for indie films to cross $10 million in a weekend, (especially post-pandemic), marking another breakout...

Faster than a speeding bullet. No, not Superman. That’s how Nicolas Cage characterizes his cameo as the Man of Steel in The Flash.
In an interview with USA Today, Cage said he was happy to finally play the role after a 1990s plan to have him play Superman fell apart. But he admits his appearance was over in a flash.
“Well, I was glad I didn’t blink,” he said. “For me, it was the feeling of being actualized. Even that look for that particular character, finally seeing it on screen, was satisfying. But as I said, it’s quick. If you really wanted to know what I was going do with that character, look at my performance in “City of Angels.”
He continued, “I was supposed (to play) Clark Kent after that (in “Superman Lives”), and I was already developing this alien otherness playing this angel. That is...

There’s always that moment, that special moment, when an actor of some note first appears onscreen in any one movie or show. From the moment their presence becomes known, they instantly turn on an uber-signature persona that is unique to the individual. Many can pull this off, usually the more high-profile the personality, but few can elicit the type of smile Nicolas Cage can produce as he slides into the backseat of a car when the audience first lays eyes on him in his newest effort, “Sympathy for the Devil.“ Sporting his own menacing grin, it’s everything one’s come to expect from the offbeat character that is Cage, and in that briefest of seconds, is somehow able to remind the viewer of what this man is all about and what may lay in store over the course of the film’s 90 minutes.

No matter the role or movie, Nicolas Cage reliably makes fascinating choices that captivate and frequently entertain. So, it goes without saying that Cage playing an enigmatic gun-wielding madman sounds like the perfect foil for Joel Kinnaman’s straight-man in the cat-and-mouse road thriller Sympathy for the Devil. Despite Cage’s presence and the pulpy stylings, though, this chamber piece frequently threatens to fall asleep at the wheel.
Sympathy for the Devil introduces its protagonist, credited only as The Driver (Kinnaman), as a doting dad dropping his son off with his mother-in-law before heading to the hospital where his wife is in labor with their second child. The Driver pulls into the parking garage only for a strange man with bright red hair and a snazzy suit to calmly slide into his backseat and hold him at gunpoint. This piece was written during the 2023 WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. Without the labor of the writers and actors currently on strike, the movie being reviewed here wouldn't exist.
There are two types of Nicolas Cage movies. There are legitimately good films that remind us he's a genuinely good, even great, actor — films like "Mandy" and "Pig." And then there's everything else. We're talking smaller films in which Cage and his wacko performance are usually the only interesting things to grab hold of. "Sympathy For the Devil" is more the latter than the former. No one is going to accuse this of being one of Cage's better films, but it is a good delivery system for Cage's usual wild man antics. He's once again given free rein to do what he wants, and what he wants to do, at least here, is to go off the deep end.
Which is fine!

D (Joel Kinnaman) is never late. For anything. He couldn’t let someone down even if he tried. So there’s no reason to worry when he learns his wife has gone into labor. At least nothing beyond the knowledge he’ll be as anxious about not being around to supervise things at work, since he’s soon becoming a dad again. All he must do is follow the checklist.
Grab the bag. Drop off their son at his mother-in-law’s house. Call into the office one last time to ensure everything is under control. And arrive at the hospital with time to spare. Maybe he’ll hit traffic. Maybe she’ll be induced due to the complications that led to them losing their first child. Maybe a strange man in red (Nicolas Cage) will jump into the backseat of his car the second he parks, gun drawn and demanding...

Directed by Yuval Adler from a screenplay by Luke Paradise, Sympathy for the Devil plays like a cut-rate Collateral, except with the unfortunate cabbie at the center of Michael Mann’s film swapped out with a hostage driver named David (Joel Kinnaman). As soon as David, an expectant father, pulls into the parking garage of the hospital where his wife is about to give birth, Nicolas Cage’s gangster character hops into the backseat and holds him at gunpoint, forcing him to drive away. From there, Sympathy for the Devil verges on plotlessness as it skates through such timeworn scenarios for the crime movie as being pulled over by a cop or stopping off at a diner, never managing an ounce of tension or mystery along the way.

Review: After being forced to drive a mysterious passenger at gunpoint, a man finds himself in a high-stakes game of cat and mouse where it becomes clear that not everything is as it seems.
Plot: Sympathy For The Devil will constantly play with your expectations from the opening frame. Every bit of information given, is a means to manipulate you into thinking one way or another. And this is what makes the film is so interesting, even when very little is happening. Because it allows you to examine the small moments that have the potential to snowball into much bigger ones. And even as I say that, I wouldn’t be shocked to hear that the film is polarizing to audiences. But aren’t those some of the best?
Like most cat-and-mouse thrillers, there’s a lot of reliance on the chemistry between the two leads in Sympathy for the Devil.

The Fantasia International Film Festival is back for its 27th annual edition, running July 20 through August 9, and it’s bringing one of Hollywood’s biggest stars––in spirit now; he’s officially canceled so as to not cross the picket line of the current SAG-AFTRA strike––to Montreal with a world premiere and career recognition. Nicolas Cage, his new film Sympathy for the Devil, and his Cheval Noir Career Achievement Award aren’t the only draw for this three-week event, though.

While the Harrison Ford-led Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny features another iconic score from John Williams, the soundtrack includes a few needle drops. “Sympathy for the Devil” by The Rolling Stones was a crucial song in the trailer, and David Bowie’s “Space Oddity” is heard in the film. Nicolas Cage will pick up this year’s Cheval Noir Career Achievement Award at Fantasia.

Throughout the years, Cage has been embracing genre cinema, admitted Davis. And it has embraced him back.
“He’s someone who sincerely loves cinema and has always embraced genre storytelling. I wish he could have been in the...

As their white-knuckle ride progresses, it becomes clear that not everything is as it seems.
Deadline previously shared an exclusive first look at the pic here.
