The Fire Nation has been portrayed to be pretty ruthless in the 100 years that it festered without the presence of the Avatar. Throughout the war, the country committed numerous atrocities and tried to set the Fire Nation as a hegemonic force on the entire planet.
Ozai, leader of the Fire Nation at the time of Avatar Aang
A part of this process was making sure that the other bending arts were eradicated, if not heavily suppressed, so as to allow the Avatar Cycle to be restricted to the Fire Nation alone. After killing every single Air Nomad and enslaving the Earth Kingdom, the Fire Nation also murdered and enslaved a slew of Water Tribe benders, specifically from the Southern Water Tribe. An Avatar theory suggests that this could have been because of a certain The Last Airbender villain, who could be squarely blamed for these atrocities.

Joni Mitchell Announces The Asylum Years (1972-1975) Archival Box Set, Shares “Help Me” Demo: Stream
Joni Mitchell has announced a new box set called Joni Mitchell Archives, Vol. 3: The Asylum Years (1972-1975), the latest release in her ongoing archival project. The 5xCD/4xLP package is out October 6th via Rhino, while a demo version of her 1974 song “Help Me” is out now.
The Asylum Years refers to the label that released Mitchell’s early ’70s albums, but it also references the artist’s retreat into British Columbia’s Sunshine Coast, a move she made out of frustration with her treatment by the press. Though she temporarily retired from performing live, the move didn’t hinder her songwriting: the period spawned 1972’s For the Roses, 1974’s Court and Spark, and 1975’s The Hissing of Summer Lawns, records that pushed Mitchell into a more jazz-inspired soundscape.

There’s also “Avenue 5” Season 2 on Oct. 10 and the new Chip and Joanna Gaines series “Fixer Upper: The Castle” on Oct. 14 (that one will also debut on Magnolia Network and discovery+ at the same time).
Other noteworthy additions this month include library titles like “Nightcrawler,” “The Witch,” “Terms of Endearment” and the underseen comedy gem “Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping.

Things are going pretty, pretty well for HBO and HBO Max at the moment thanks to the smashing success of Game of Thrones prequel House of the Dragon. With its list of new releases for October 2022 though, HBO Max appears ready to up the ante even more.
The headlining title on HBO Max this month is undoubtedly The White Lotus season 2 on Oct. 30. Mike White’s freshly-Emmy-winning comedy looked to be a one-off after season 1. But cooler heads prevailed and the series is now returning in an anthology format. What will season 2 look like? Guess we’ll find out when the show checks in to Sicily later this month.
Aside from The White Lotus, HBO also has a few other TV shows of note this month. The torturously titled Pennyworth: The Origin of Batman’s Butler debuts its third season on Oct. 6. That will be followed by Avenue 5 season 2 on Oct.

The Jane Doe accusing Tiffany Haddish and Aries Spears of child sexual abuse has withdrawn her case.
In a lawsuit filed at the Los Angeles Superior Court on 30 August, a 22-year-old woman using the pseudonym Jane Doe alleged that the two comedians forced her and her 15-year-old brother –pseudonym John Doe – separately to perform inappropriate acts on camera when they were both minors.
Representatives for Haddish and Spears denied the allegations in separate statements on 1 September.
In new court documents obtained by TMZ, the plaintiff reportedly asked the judge to dismiss the case with prejudice, meaning it cannot be filed again.
In a statement published by TMZ, Jane Doe said: “My family and I have known Tiffany Haddish for many years – and we now know that she would never harm me or my brother or help anyone else do anything that could harm us. We wish Tiffany the best and...

Exclusive: Having rallied in recent months against censorship-advocating Republican politicians and the loss of abortion rights in America, Twisted Sister’s Dee Snider is going back to the past to spotlight our potential future.
The heavy metal lead singer has teamed with Magilla Entertainment for a documentary series about the efforts of Tipper Gore and the Parents Music Resource Center 37 years ago to excise so-called obscene music. Confounding all expectations, Snider appeared with Frank Zappa and John Denver before a Senate committee in 1985 and proved a compelling and insightful advocate for freedom of expression and creative license.

It’s summer, everyone! And with its relatively sparse list of new releases for July 2021, Hulu seems to be subtlety imploring its subscribers to go outside.
Don’t get us wrong: Hulu’s library offerings get a big upgrade this month. July 1 sees the arrival of great films like Galaxy Quest, Fargo, and Caddyshack. Bill and Ted Face the Music premieres on July 2 and its followed by Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar on July 9. Not bad stuff! It’s just that, outside of the library titles, there isn’t much to go off of.
Hulu’s only major original release this month is the FX on Hulu production American Horror Stories on July 15. As its name implies, the show is a spinoff of American Horror Story and will feature self-contained horror episodes rather than a season-long arc. The Tandav row has once again brought to focus the debate over whether Ott content in India should be censored. While many netizens support the idea, others wonder if censorship is the only way to end controversy.
Tandav, a drama series set against the backdrop of politics, was recently slammed by several people who claimed that it provokes communal disharmony and hurts sentiments of the Hindus.
"I urge honorable Minister Shri @PrakashJavdekar, please ban Tandav web series and order to make all webseries under censor board. #BanTandavNow," tweeted one user.
Another wrote: "Ib ministry should stop broadcast first n ask them to get censor certificate. Infact Ib should constitute a separate board for censorship for all the Ott content."
Another netizen simply said: "Censor Ott Platforms!! #Tandav."
One went on to suggest: "There should be a censor board for Ott, Tandav has crossed all the limits.. Agenda driven show by...

James Wan will direct New Line horror movie Malignant before returning to helm Aquaman 2.
James Wan is at an interesting place in his career. While he proved his action movie bonafides several years ago with the stressful production of Furious 7, it was last year that he managed to successfully launch a new superhero franchise with a wild premise and little in the way of a popular shared universe to fall back on. Nevertheless, Aquaman was gonzo, bubblegum fun that grossed about $1.2 billion at the box office. So, in theory, he could do anything he’d want next. Which makes news that he’s returning to horror so intriguing.
Malignant is the official title of Wan's hush-hush horror film, which will star Annabelle Wallis and George Young. The initial announcement of the project revealed that Wan was locked in to direct a...

Maddie Hasson was drawn to “Impulse” because she found the protagonist, Henrietta “Henry” Coles, to be “really interesting, especially for a young female character.” Based on the book series by Steven Gould, the YouTube Originals series centers on a teenager who discovers she possesses powers of teleportation following a sexual assault. A version of this story was previously filmed by Doug Liman as the 2007 film “Jumper.” The filmmaker then brought the show to the streaming network and directed the pilot episode. Watch our exclusive video interview with Hasson above.
See Lauren LeFranc interview: ‘Impulse’ showrunner
The actress describes Henry as “a very lonely person. She’s always on her own. I liked her because she’s like a raw nerve. She’s very angry, real and harsh. I liked seeing that in a young female character because I think so often young adult TV shows can get caught up … in being likable.

Investigation Discovery is keeping up its business relationship with the Kardashians: ID has renewed true-crime series “Twisted Sisters,” which is executive produced by Khloe Kardashian, for Season 2.
“Twisted Sisters” goes inside the “most outrageous and provocative” crimes ever committed by, you guessed it, sisters. Each hour-long episode investigates the how and why this duo, bound by blood, has descended into darkness, ID says.
The series delves into the sisters’ evolution into evil through a series of interviews with immediate family members and close friends to learn what triggered their path towards a life of crime, the series description continues. Investigators and law enforcement anchor each story as they recount firsthand their unraveling of the case and try to make sense of the crimes committed.

"This is something that you can't forget." You may have heard of this story, you may have not. There's an urban legend that during a showing of the tornado movie Twister, which opened in the summer of 1996, an actual tornado struck a drive-in sometime around the scene where a tornado hits a drive-in theater in the movie. That seems all too coincidental, but apparently the rumors spread and it became a myth, a story that was kept alive and retold by those who believed it. This short film, Twisted, attempts to determine whether this really happened and get to the bottom of the story. Not only is it a fascinating story, but this short film is superbly directed, with lots of great footage and interviews and more. Take a break and watch this below. Thanks to Birth.Movies.Death for the tip on this. Original description from Vimeo: "In...

Kylie Bunbury is about to go from “You’re out!” to “You’re under arrest, sugah!”
The Pitch alum has signed on to star in ABC’s reboot of the 1970s cop drama Get Christie Love, TVLine has learned. Bunbury will play the title character, an African-American CIA agent in charge of an elite special-ops unit. “Beautiful and charismatic, Christie transforms into whoever she needs to be in order to get the job done, especially when it’s down to the wire and the stakes are life and death,” per the network’s description.

Unfortunately, the fate of Fox's freshman series, Pitch, is still up in the air.
It is arguably one of the best new series of the year, but it has not picked up the fan base and ratings that it deserves. It's a real shame.
Is television ready for a female-driven sports drama? I'd like to think so. Especially when that female is the talented Kylie Bunbury, and her co-star is Mark-Paul Gosselaar. They are just two of the reasons why this series deserves to be picked up.
It would be a travesty if we weren't graced with their talent in such a groundbreaking and inspiring series.
If you're a fan of heartwarming sports family dramas like Friday Night Lights, I urge you to check out Pitch.
You can also check out our Pitch reviews and Pitch Round Tables. If you haven't watched the series yet or would like to relive it all over again,...
