Exclusive: Veteran documentary filmmaker Lance Oppenheim (Ren Faire) is pivoting to fiction with his next project, Primetime, which will be financed and produced by A24, with Robert Pattinson among the producers.
While not much is known about the film’s genre or plot, it’s said to follow a journalist who takes on an underworld of crime and changes television forever. We’ve heard from multiple sources that the project takes inspiration from To Catch a Predator, the NBC program put on as part of Dateline, as well as its host Chris Hansen, though the studio wouldn’t confirm. Sources also had Pattinson attached to star, though others clarified that there’s no deal in that respect for the moment. Stay tuned.
Oppenheim will direct from a script by Ajon Singh. Pattinson produces through his production banner Icki Eneo Arlo alongside Brighton McCloskey, Range’s Brian Kavanaugh Jones and Fred Berger,...

It was 1974, and Paul McCartney had hit new heights of success with his album Band on the Run, widely considered one of his finest works. Though McCartney had long moved past his Beatles days, creating acclaimed music as a solo artist, forming the band Wings in 1971 helped give new energy to his collaborative spirit. Just over a year after Band on the Run’s release, McCartney and Wings found themselves at Abbey Road Studios preparing for their next creative venture.
Abbey Road was where McCartney had made so much musical history. Now, with Wings taking shape around him, including wife Linda on keyboards, Denny Laine on guitar and vocals, and newer members Jimmy McCulloch and Geoff Britton, McCartney saw an opportunity to capture the band’s chemistry on film. He brought in friend David Litchfield to document rehearsals for an envisioned live album and special to be called One Hand Clapping.

In her office at the Friar Park estate where she and George Harrison lived, Olivia Harrison grabs a piece of correspondence she only recently saw: a handwritten letter from her late husband to his mother when the Beatles were hanging with the Maharishi in India in 1968. “I became famous and made all this material wealth,” the letter reads in part. “That was only to enable me to see that there was more in life … I now know that I’m going to make it to the real top, which is...

Israeli novelist and director Shemi Zarhin is set to screen his latest movie, Bliss (Hemda) at the Toronto Film Festival with virtually all the certainties in his life and work scrambled by the current war in Gaza that followed the Oct. 7, 2023 attacks on southern Israel.
“I can’t explain my people. I can explain nothing,” Zarhin told The Hollywood Reporter on Tuesday about the impossibility of unpacking the conflict between Israelis and Palestinians in his own films and the wider Israeli cinema.
Hardly a critique of Israeli’s polarized society, Zarhin wrote and shot Bliss (Hemda) before the Israeli-Gaza war broke out late last year with devastating destruction in the region, and it’s not an overtly political film as it centers on an older couple, Sassi and Efi, played by Sasson Gabay and Assi Levy.

The Young and the Restless spoilers for Friday, August 9, prove that Victor is always available to help out another family member — whether they ask for it or not.
To Remind You of My Love
In the past few days, Victor has laid down the law — er, helpfully advised — to Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott), Victoria (Amelia Heinle), Nicholas (Josh Morrow), Adam (Mark Grossman), Lily (Christel Khalil), Nate (Sean Dominic), Devon (Bryton James), and Billy (Jason Thompson). Has he missed anyone? Ah, yes — Summer (Allison Lanier).
Victor’s precious granddaughter has not been the lucky receiver of Grandpa’s counsel in a while! She’s having some trouble with custody of Harrison (Redding Munsall — who recently channeled Victor). Victor can help with that! In a way that doesn’t affect Victor’s side deal with Kyle (Michael Mealor). Victor is, of course, very concerned with the young boy’s future. And with Summer’s happiness.

The music video for Justin Timberlake’s “SexyBack” makes the song seem pretty heterosexual. Meanwhile, Timberlake revealed the tune was inspired by some not-so-heterosexual thoughts he was having. Interestingly, the track was also inspired by a classic rock song by an LGBTQ icon. “SexyBack” was a bit of a novelty song, but its impact on popular music ran deep.
Justin Timberlake’s ‘SexyBack’ was inspired by thoughts of men and women in a club
During a 2020 interview posted on Timberlake’s YouTube channel, the singer said “SexyBack” was inspired by a song by LGBTQ icon David Bowie. “I was listening to ‘Rebel Rebel,’ which essentially is about a cross-dresser,” he said. “So I was picturing guys, girls, all iterations of that in a club, singing this to each other.
“And I said, ‘This has to be so simple and a vibe and just like an attitude,'” Timberlake added. “And I was like,...

Due to their romance and the controversy surrounding it, Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears will always be associated with each other. Fans can debate which singer had the more significant impact on popular culture, but the Billboard Hot 100 tells a more objective story. While both Timberlake and Spears were massively popular, one (arguably) gave us more No. 1 singles.
Justin Timberlake inspired a horrible toilet video and Britney Spears didn’t
So far, Timberlake has produced five Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 hits. The songs in question are “Can’t Stop the Feeling!,” “SexyBack,” “My Love,” “Give It To Me,” and “What Goes Around…/…Comes Around.” Each of those tunes were critically acclaimed, with “SexyBack” standing as Timberlake’s signature song.
The real question is whether or not any of those tracks became influential. All of them (except “Can’t Stop the Feeling!”) helped make electro-r&b the defining sound of the 2000s.

Outside of his solo musical; career, Justin Timberlake was once part of the beloved boy band Nsync. He found huge success as a solo pop artist beginning with his first studio album Justified in 2002. However, it was his second album FutureSex/LoveSounds, that catapulted his career and made him a pop sensation.

The anarchic spirit of Julia Ducournau’s Palme d’Or winner Titane lives on in Emma Benestan’s Critics’ Week closer Animale, the genre-busting debut of a director who cites Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Kathryn Bigelow’s Near Dark, and the naturalist films of Chloé Zhao as influences. More surprisingly, she also credits Abdellatif Kechiche, since her first break was as assistant editor on his 2013 Palme d’Or winner Blue Is the Warmest Color.

Benestan — who would later take a full-blown editor credit on Kechiche’s 2017 feature Mektoub, My Love — was then finishing her studies at France’s prestigious La Fémis film school, but observing Kechiche’s directorial style, and witnessing his penchant for mixing professional and amateur actors, was an education in itself. “It’s the way he marries professionals and amateurs that gives his films a certain spontaneity,” she explains. “I’d been taught the director had to control everything,...

For better or worse, Neverland Ranch is one of the most famous celebrity properties ever. Michael Jackson bought the ranch because of an experience he had while filming the music video for his Paul McCartney duet “Say Say Say.” “Say Say Say” stands out from his other collaborations with Paul for another reason.
Michael Jackson’s ‘Say Say Say’ was 1 of his multiple collaborations with Paul McCartney
Jermaine Jackson is the second most famous member of The Jackson 5. In his 2014 book You Are Not Alone: Michael, Through a Brother’s Eyes, Jermaine said his brother always wanted to collaborate with Paul. Paul wrote a song called “Girlfriend” that appeared on the album Off the Wall. In the 1980s, Paul and Michael released two hit duets together: “The Girl Is Mine” from Thriller and “Say Say Say” from Paul’s album Pipes of Peace. Only the latter has a music video.

Paul McCartney & Wings are finally offering a physical release of one of their most bootlegged albums: One Hand Clapping, the live studio sessions conducted post-Band on the Run in 1974 for a seldom-seen documentary film, will arrive everywhere on June 14th.
While several songs from One Hand Clapping eventually landed on subsequent Paul McCartney releases, this will be the first time the album is available in full. It was also the first Wings album recorded with a new lineup — Denny Seiwell and Henry McCullough departed after Band on the Run, and were replaced by guitarist Jimmy McCulloch and drummer Geoff Britton for the One Hand Clapping sessions.
The album was recorded at Abbey Road Studios over a span of four days while director David Litchfield filmed the documentary — which still hasn’t been released in an official capacity. Within the album’s 26 tracks are Paul McCartney & Wings favorites like “Live and Let Die...
