A 17-year-old German girl working part-time as an office cleaner has a love-hate rapport with one of the Muslim employees in Strange Daughter (Fremde Tochter), the sophomore feature from filmmaker Stephan Lacant. As in his previous film, the queer policemen romance Free Fall, the writer-director excels at suggesting the emotional intensity and the more rational confusion surrounding the unlikely rapport between two people who appear to be polar opposites, though here the impressive and intense first part slowly morphs into a film in which the plot seems to take precedence over any kind of psychological illumination. Nonetheless, this is the...

Liberty Davis is back in Bull's "Free Fall" -- but she won't be working with Tac this time. How will Dr. Bull handle having her on the opposing side in court?
According to CBS, "When a state governor and the co-owner of a skydiving company die during a jump, Bull helps the co-owner's brother, Max Hyland (Frank Whaley), and daughter fight a lawsuit filed by the governor's widow by trying to find who sabotaged the parachute. During today’s Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare San Diego Comic-Con panel, Activision revealed that Terminal, a fan favorite map from the past, will return this year. The announcement was accompanied by a lengthy new gameplay demo from the title that showcased some of the action to come later this year.
Originally developed for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Terminal has been reworked in order to fit the Infinite Warfare setting. In order to do that, developer Infinity Ward changed what was an airport terminal into a shuttle port on the Moon. Despite the change in location, the spirit of the map is said to be retained. The level won’t come standard in the game, though, as the only way to get will be to pre-order the shooter.
Clocking in at over 13 minutes, the “Black Sky” gameplay clip from Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare offers up a lengthy look at the game.

The world is about to get a little bit stranger and I could not be more excited. Taxidermia, Free Fall and Hukkle director Gyorgy Palfi has won an intensely loyal cadre of fans around the globe with his work to date - work that is often challenging, frequently outrageous and never ever boring - and he looks poised to reach his largest audience yet with his first English language work due to begin principal photography on July 18. Titled simply The Voice, Paly's next is an adaptation of Stanislaw Lem's 1968 novel His Master's Voice and will be by far the largest scale production Palfi has engaged in to date. Cineuropa pitches the story like this: The plot follows a thirty-something Hungarian journalist who has...

Director: György Pálfi
Writer: György Pálfi, Zsofia Ruttkay
We’ve been waiting a long time for Hungarian auteur György Pálfi‘s ambitious project The Voice to transpire, but as that develops, he continues to work on other features. Though he’s perhaps still best known for his 2006 sophomore feature, Taxidermia, he won Best Director at Karlovy Vary in 2014 for the equally bizarre Free Fall (which we hopes picks up Us distribution someday). In mid-2015, Palfi opened an Indiegogo for post-production of his latest, Mindörökké (For Ever), based on a novel by Sandor Tar about a post-apocalyptic Hungarian-Ukrainian village. Knowing Pálfi’s particular visual flair and frequency of bizarre narratives, we can’t wait to see what he has in store for us.
Cast: Julia Ubrankovics, Tamas Polgar, Attila Menszator-Heresz
Production Co.: Kmh Film, Sunpunks Entertainment
U.S. Distributor: Rights available Tbd (domestic/international)

South Korean festival grows focus on alternative, experimental and “adventurous” cinema.
Held in a sunny Southern city with traditional houses and some of the hands-down most delicious food you’ll find in Korea, the Jeonju International Film Festival (Jiff) is celebrating its 16th edition with multiple sold out cinemas.
The fest has always been focused on supporting and promoting alternative, experimental and “adventurous” cinema. From its inception, Jiff put its money where its mouth is - producing a different triptych of digital films every year. Directors such as Jia Zhang-ke, Pedro Costa, Bong Joon Ho, Eric Khoo, Claire Denis and Bahman Ghobadi have participated.
Last year, Jiff went from producing three shorts annually to three features with an aim to help get them more festival play and theatrical releases.

Sarah Butler, you in danger, girl. At least when D.B. Sweeney comes for you with a silenced pistol and an entire night to kill you. Which is apparently the premise of director Malek Akkad’s “Free Fall.” But wait! Our gal apparently has a little secret. She might also be a kung fu master. Or at least, a pretty competent ass kicker herself. Check out the form on those kicks! A top executive is killed in an apparent suicide leap from the skyscraper headquarters of Gault Capital. Eluding her pursuer, Jane soon finds herself trapped in an elevator between floors on a holiday weekend in a very empty building. With their cat and mouse game seemingly at check-mate, Jane must summon...
