CERTAIN THINGS YOU SHOULDN'T GO SNOOPING ABOUT
nogodnomasters2 December 2018
Warning: Spoilers
After 8 headless bodies have been found in the desert, two news teams work together to make a reality TV show about go to the desert after legendary Navajo treasure protected by evil spirits. If you have ever seen a hand held camera film before, you know what to expect: interview, screaming, jumping camera, and a cover scene with a person being dragged off. The trip is lead by Daniel (Ted Jonas) who acts like a young Billy Zane. It includes his former GF anchor Kim (Jules Hartley) and his current GF anchor Cate (Danielle Baker) in order to create drama. Acting was better than most found footage films.

If you like found footage films, this one should be in your wheelhouse.

Guide: F-word. No sex or nudity. Danielle Baker in tube top, shorts, and heels dancing on a table.

Someone got a camera for Christmas. Someone else got an idea in their stocking/
barrylyman25 March 2016
I give this film a gracious "2" for originality.

Personally, I am very leery of a film that begins with titles that try to legitimize its premise by by informing the audience that the footage was "found". Really? the idea, although original at the outset, was so poorly crafted that it lost credibility quite soon. The performances were adequate, but the ensuing telling of the tale...SPOILER... I was left feeling taken advantage of. I would not recommend this to anyone who doesn't have a CD they'd rather listen to for 30 minutes while they watch agonized actors trying to portray real emotions in silence.

All in all, a disappointing effort, but it kept 2nd class filmmakers out of trouble for the duration of the project.

The Before Time?
tmccull5228 October 2020
Warning: Spoilers
The before time that matters the most is the time that I spent prior to watching this putrid excuse for a movie.

The acting stinks on ice. The characters are over-the-top caricatures. No one in this movie is even remotely likeable. Why is it common to virtually every horror movie that features a group of people in peril that none of them can stand any of the others?

Let me cut to the chase; everyone dies. The stupidest, most inane death involves Peter, an intern to the leader of this group, and Kimberly, another member who kills him. Now, Peter is significantly larger than Kimberly, is in decent shape, and uninjured. Conversely, Kimberly is exhausted and dehydrated, but she takes Peter down and kills him like a lioness taking down a baby gazelle. She attacks him, knocks him to the ground, and strangles him to death in less than 10 seconds. Where did she find the inhuman strength that it would require to strangle a fully grown adult man in so short a span when she barely had the strength to walk just prior to the attack?

This movie is stupid heaped on imbecilic. Bad acting laid atop an idiotic script atop shoddy camerawork. Whomever put together the soundtrack for this farce should be beaten mercilessly about the noggin with a ballpeen hammer. This movie is an exercise in futility, at best; a complete and utter waste of time and resources.

Spare yourself and spend your time doing something other than watching this rancid turd of a movie. I recently passed a kidney stone, and that was more enjoyable than this "movie".

Say Hello to Miguel Sanchez
ceyx30 September 2019
I enjoyed the first half of this film when it was an out-and-out satire of broadcast journalism. After that, it became a by-the-numbers horror film. Had it maintained its comic edge, it would have been more original, and more fun. I just about doubled over laughing when one of the character names was a direct Simpsons reference.

Navajo

Traditions of the Navajo Traditions and advise to any kind of realm of belief. Ones beliefs and stories that are told are tales of glory. I'm thinking if you like a perfect scare than this is your type of movie because it follows with the joys of historical and mind blowing experience.

"original" premise for a found footage film
Stvs24 April 2016
I ran across this DVD on Amazon and gave it a chance. I have probably watched every found footage film out there, this one caught my attention because of its "original" premise.

It's hard to find a fresh idea on a sub genre that is already worn out, so I will give credit to the filmmakers. Last film that i watched that slightly reminded me this one was The Hills Have Eyes..

The production value is good for a low-budget movie, the cinematography and special effects mixed with visual effects were done well. The script starts slow but it builds up and in the last act there's some effective jump scares and atmosphere. The acting is not great but OK.

Curious to see what it could have been done with a bigger budget on this one.

Decent story, bad acting.
wayneriley-8456011 February 2021
The story was decent, it even had a lesson. The acting kept it from being a great movie. There was overacting and underacting. The actors where good enough to make you hate some characters personalities. My biggest complaint was the lack of immersion. The bad acting kept pushing me out of the world the movie created.
