This show is great
Rob133126 September 2023
Bosch has to be one of the best, most underrated crime dramas on tv. The writing and acting is what makes this show so special. It tells the story of a former special forces officer named Harry Bosch (Titus Welliver), who's now a homicide detective in Hollywood. He inspects suspicious deaths and is absolutely relentless in his pursuit of the truth. Titus Welliver is absolutely perfect as Harry Bosch! It went on for seven incredible seasons and the fans loved it so much that they brought it back already with Bosch: Legacy, which is just as good. I can't say enough great things about this amazing show so just go watch for yourself, you won't be disappointed.

Highly Recommended!

Bosch is one of the best police dramas there is and that's saying something considering there are about a thousand to choose from! It's a gritty, suspenseful drama where the acting is terrific! Titus Welliver is absolutely perfect as Harry Bosch! It's sucks that this incredible show is ending after Season 7 but I guess it's better to go out on top than hang on too long. If you haven't seen this amazing show yet I highly recommend that you make the time to do so!

Maddie - Thank God for a Daughter Character that isn't a B.
Fargomoviecritic10 June 2020
I just want to comment on Madison Lintz- who plays Maddie, not too hard to remember. She is the first daughter character I have seen in any Amazon Or Netflix show who isn't a serious B. She is thoughtful, nice and isn't overly dramatic (see Ozark and Bordertown for OVERLY DRAMATIC AND SERIOUS Bs). She actually cares about her father and mother but still acts like a teenager. Thank you Bosch writers for developing a great young women who represents teens who aren't clueless and air heads which seem to be the easy way to stereotype teenage girls.

Love this Series
bbhiller17 April 2018
How long do I have to wait for Season 5? I binged on the first four seasons, liking it better with each episode. I've read the books, too. I'm a Michael Connelly fan. Harry Bosch is a fully realized character and it's a pleasure to watch him move in on the bad guys. More, please, lots more!

Bosch Vs Ray Donovan and Bosch wins hands down. No Contest
Ed-Shullivan17 April 2022
Mrs. Shullivan and I blitzed both TV crime series starting first with Ray Donovan and then moving on to watch Bosch. Thank goodness we watched them in that order as we enjoyed every single episode of Bosch and the much stronger and varying story lines. Unlike many TV crime series where the lead actors are some twenty-something studs and beauty queens, Bosch is lead by the middle aged actor Titus Welliver who walks with a gimpy leg and lives by a set of internal rules that do not include framing criminals or hiding and/or creating false evidence.

Bosch's partner is a really cool and well dressed African American actor named Jerry Edgar (Jamie Hector) who is an excellent beat detective and valuable ally of Bosch's. In fact, the entire homicide squad adds value to the series and when Bosch is not in the scene the supporting characters can admirably carry their scenes so that each episode is a story within itself.

We blitzed Bosch, just like we had previously blitzed Ray Donovan. The difference is Bosch is by far the superior TV crime/drama series and I rated it two steps above Ray Donovan.

Mrs. Shullivan and I heard rumors that the Bosch series was making another comeback and we could not be more pleased about this rumor. I give the series a favorable 8 out of 10 IMDb rating.

Quality detective series.
deloudelouvain22 September 2021
Bosch is one of those detective series you get hooked on. A lot of people will be sad to see this one ending. Seven seasons might seem long but every season has new cases and so it doesn't feel repetitive. It could have been going on for much more seasons if you ask me as the quality of the seasons remained equal. I have to say it's not the easiest show to follow. For that there is sometimes too much going on, which is not necessarily a bad thing but you have to be very attentive all the time. Also the use of slang and police lingo isn't always the easiest thing to understand if you're not familiar with it. That said Bosch is just quality. The cast is just perfect, all actors are very believable in their roles, the stories are addictive to follow, so yes I'm sad Bosch is finished. I guess they stopped because of the so-called pandemic, I can't see no other reason, as this show was always entertaining, even in the end.

What can I say about this series?
rafa-a-t-silva23 July 2020
Characters so humanized and with real problems that make you identify with them. Intertwined stories and plots that make you learn a lot about how the judicial, police and government systems work, with all their bureaucracies and facets. And a very good soundtrack that influenced me in a good way listen to Jazz. I recommend this series without reservations.

As a huge fan of Michael Connelly's Bosch books, I was looking forward to seeing this pilot and I wasn't disappointed. Titus Welliver is the perfect Bosch, the rest of the cast are just as brilliant and the writing and production are both spot on. The story line is in fact two Bosch books woven into one and it has been done very cleverly. Bosch fans have been waiting for twenty years for this character to be put onto film but for me, it was worth the wait. I would dearly love to see this made into a complete series. Titus Welliver is as brilliant as always and has the tormented look behind his eyes that any Bosch fan would expect to see. He may not physically resemble Harry but that is soon forgotten. Watch, enjoy, rate and share!

One LA detective who just wants to do the job, and a great team behind him.
face-819-93372610 February 2014
Warning: Spoilers
Nice start. This is a very solid drama with a great cast. Still dealing with a situation from a case 2 years earlier Bosch the hard boiled, but seemingly very together homicide detective spends every free minute he can get back on the job whether he is allowed to or not. The pilot is very good, it has a Low Winter sun vibe, but less dirty cop-ish, and all LA. The supporting cast are mostly veterans, and even some child actors you may recognize. All in I found that I Enjoyed this first take, and hope that the show continues right where it is, I can see very little that could need improving. I recommend this to anyone who likes the realistic shows like True Detective, and Banshee. Not so much action, but the heart is there.

My Favorite Show Despite
Despite all the product placements, the detective who loses out on a random bidding site somehow not named Ebay (because bidding in e-commerce sucks), despite the played-out DA entanglements, city politicking and wise-ass coroner character who only has one dead body to deal with at a time (always offering advice); despite the typical precocious teenager who regularly sneers and rolls her eyes, the slow talks about crucial evidence without interruption, a detective with a wardrobe of $800 suits, a producer with an incredibly overblown take on modern relationships; the constant headshots and knifings; the cruelty and blood and whores of which Bosch and Co. must deal with every day of their working lives; despite that murder cases miraculously come to a head in a week when serialized; and despite that, in the real world, a cop like Bosch would be dead and fired by day 5, it's my favorite show these days. I just wish it didn't make me roll my eyes sometimes.

Quality mystery detective series.
deloudelouvain1 April 2016
My wife reads a lot of books from Michael Connelly and if the books are as good as this series then I might consider reading them as well. Because Bosch is really a quality show. Detective series with a couple of mysteries are most of the time entertaining when they are well made. This one is for sure one of the better ones. Easy to follow, with good actors, and with an excellent storyline. There are enough twists and turns to keep you interested for a whole season. Titus Welliver as harry Bosch is a delight to watch. I honestly hope there will be a lot more seasons. I just saw the first two complete seasons in a week time and I can't wait for the next season. Quality!

Shocking
mickfbrown15 July 2021
I loved this series until the last season.

The final season was bloody awful, the forced storey line with the LT was unbelievable and the main story was also poor and very linear.

Very disappointing end to what had been a fantastic programme.

S7 was a disappointment
rujane8 July 2021
Bosch started out as a very good based-on-the-books crime drama. The performances, the filming, the character development was all first rate - unfortunately, that only lasted for the first few seasons, and then (as others have mentioned) with the introduction of the daughter into more of the plot-lines, it just went into a slump.

Season 7 was a very disappointing finale. Nothing in it rang true, not Harry's obsessive desire to see justice done in the matter of arson fatalities, not the Lt's harassment case which seemed to be a plot that would have been more credible in the 70s than 2020, nothing at all that involved the daughter - nothing in the entire season seemed authentic, organic or believable; everything seemed rushed and sloppily developed. I did wonder whether the Covid situation put limitations on filming that might account for the season's shortcomings but the unfortunate end result, in my case, is that while it set Bosch up for a spinoff, I have no desire to invest my time in it.

Titus Welliver IS Bosch! excellent pilot! MORE please!
txartist6219 February 2014
while eagerly anticipating this show's pilot (and hoping it would be anywhere near as good as Michael Connelly's excellent Harry Bosch novels), frankly i just couldn't imagine who could ever come close to portraying Bosch as i have always pictured him. until Titus Welliver. he is SO incredibly adept and believable at being (as opposed to playing) Bosch, it's uncanny. while i always pictured this character (one of my all time favorite recurring characters...in any books), i never could come up with an actor who i felt would embody all that is Bosch - the quiet intensity, the mannerisms, the looks, the presence and attitude. but, it's all there in this wonderful adaptation of MC's fantastic novels. it feels like the books, with the perfect gritty LA vibe, and i felt like it was Bosch's house come to life. i sincerely hope this becomes a series - if the pilot is any indication of what's in store. it's an excellent show - great acting, cinematography, directing, etc... i was not even slightly disappointed - and Michael Connelly's Bosch books have long been on top of my short list of all-time favorites!

This is an amazing series with a great cast! The only thing bad about it is there are not enough episodes! I could watch this show on a daily basis. I may to start reading the book series to get my fix .

True to the books
mmbayard10 May 2020
Best TV I've seen in years. I've read all the Bosch novels and had no interest in seeing the show because TV and movies never seem to do justice to the characters in the books. But not so with Bosch. Titus Welliver nails the part. All of the actors are great. Big problem for me was avoiding staying up too late to "watch just one more episode".

Better with each season
mgwilcox29 July 2020
Best police drama in decades and improves with each season . Lots of insights into law enforcement good and bad But above all fair. Another possitive is that this his show assumes its view is fairly intelligent sure like all shows they have to do a few magic tricks to make the story move forward at more than a snails pace but they do so in a way that is not insulting to the viewer . Great show looking forward to a season 7 .

Wow, what a great series... just what I've been looking for
Blumanowar23 February 2021
I've just watched the first two seasons in two weeks but I had to go on and post a review... this is a great old fashioned cop show; however, it's several levels above my old favorite 'cop shows' like Hill Street Blues, etc ( and that dates me a bit lol) but that's a series that had similar style but is so inferior to Bosch.

The multiple story arcs, both short and over arching are put together so well.. it's not just one case to solve per show it has multiple arcs, long and short going on at once, Bosch is juggling romance, family , multiple murder cases which end up being related and great action...(non cgi action lol), it's edited so well there's never a boring moment. I was burnt out 25 yrs ago on 'cop' shows because there were so many yrs ago and they were all the same with the same model.

But this takes this genre to a new level. Welliver is the perfect fit for this show... his characters style is so cool and while it's nothing like a Bond movie, because the realism his character exhibits is like no other show in this genre I've ever seen...Wellivers acting and the shows realistic writing makes it so much more enjoyable than your typical cop show. Watch the first cpl seasons and you'll see why I'm so excited about it. Awesome Awesome Awesome 👍👍 2 thumbs up!!

Bosch is GREAT!
lagravy22 February 2014
Michael Connelly's Bosch series is one of my favorites. I was thrilled to hear that it was being made into a TV series and was hoping it would live up to the books. I loved the first episode and was not disappointed. Titus Welliver did an excellent job of portraying Bosch. Jamie Hector is cast as his partner, Jerry Edgar, and I think he was very good too. It is very surreal to see your favorite book character come to life in film and I was not sure if a television show could evoke the same feeling as the book. I think the first episode did capture the feelings from the book. Even if you have not read the books, this show would definitely appeal to any crime show fan! When the episode ended, I was wishing there was another episode so I could see what happens - which is funny since I read the books! Great casting, suspense, mystery! Watch it!

Well-crafted hardboiled detective thriller
richpurdon19 February 2015
Bosch was something I started watching more out of curiosity than anything else, but it only took a couple of episodes to get me drawn in and wanting more.

Although there's nothing to separate it from the myriad detective thrillers featuring a driven, cynical cop in pursuit of a taunting serial killer playing cat-and-mouse, the quality of writing in the source material shines though and is more than done justice by quality performances from the cast.

Titus Welliver gets a long overdue opportunity to take centre stage and provides a superbly balanced portrayal of a man who has learned to keep his temper on a short leash - but only just.

Other familiar faces - 24's Sarah Clarke, Walking Dead's Scott Wilson and The Wire's Lance Reddick amongst others - bring plenty of quality to keep their characters moving in and out of focus during the investigation. Shawn Hatosy and Annie Wersching prove equally adept at straddling the shadow line.

All in all an enjoyable if unsurprising crime thriller elevated to great by the cast and script.

One of the best on TV
toddsgolfin28 June 2021
Bosch is simply one of the best shows on TV. Thank you Amazon for 7 great seasons. Each continues to develop the characters and the dynamics which both bind and repulse each other. I've become a huge Titus Welliver. He just IS Bosch. I'm not sure where the spin-off show will take us, but I'll be waiting with great anticipation.

Why they let them ruin the show with this awful last season?
Hazu295 July 2021
This was one of my favorite shows, old school style detective show, very rare nowadays. Great characters, great scenes, amazing seasons 1-6. I recommended to many people, I initially gave a rating of 9/10. But this last season is a joke. Clearly they just wanted to push as many politics they could, it's disrespectful for the fans of the show, giving us such a bad product after all the support we showed for the show. If you are obligated to put some woke aspects in the show, okay, but let it affect its quality? Season 7 is a woke mediocre product. I will never watch anything from amazon/prime ever again.

So disappointing
laffrp16 July 2021
I loved this show, the pace, the writing, the characters (apart from Maddie). However the 7th season there's a massive dip in quality across the board. Was there a writers strike? No, however I feel new writers were brought on to introduce certain political themes and current trends we see in so many other generic TV shows. I really thought Bosch would rise about this but seems they choose to follow the sheep rather than stick to a well engineered storyline. Put it this way, I've one episode left to watch and I really can't be bothered, I don't care if I see it or not. The LT / incel storyline, along with Chief and his plastic baby is some of the lazy writing I've come across in a long while. Last 2 seasons you made Bosch into a generic drama. Such a shame.

Great to Have Season 7
meckstut27 June 2021
Have been looking forward to Season 7 after Covid-binging on the first 6 seasons late last year. Does not disappoint, love Harry of course but the continuing development of the supporting characters and the side stories is what makes this such an interesting watch.

Character development and casting is excellent with one exception -- "Maddy". I really dislike the character and the actor. Is she someone's daughter and was put into the cast as a favor? The writers must not like her either because they give really bad lines (so out of character for the rest of the series). How many times is she going to say "Dad, you are scaring me"? And, with the semi-serious, worried look. Dopey! Bad writing, bad acting.

Not the fancy stuff like other shows, and that's a good thing
amkn7517 August 2022
Some series got these strange ways of showing how the detectives (or whatever) goes through evidence and such. That's not how this show is.

I'd say it should've been cancelled before it did. It felt re-hashed in the end, with fairly weak stories. More of a drama show at that point really.

Great crime show most of the time though, and it certainly is a solid 8/10.
