Whether you’re a long-time fan of the Fallout franchise or a new viewer that joined the club after watching Prime Video’s TV show, you’re well-aware that Vault-Tec Vaults were much more than just a way to save human civilization in case of a global nuclear war — they were controlled grounds for experiments on humans.
But while some of those experiments were reasonably tame, others were downright monstrous… And one particular Vault can prove devastating in Fallout Season 2.
Lucy MacLean Loves Herself a Good Vault
One of Fallout’s main characters, Lucy MacLean has been a certified Vault Dweller for her entire life — until the moment she bravely ventured outside to find her father. Like most of her fellow Vault Dwellers, she had no idea about Vault-Tec’s experiments, and in her eyes, Vaults remained safe and picture-perfect places.
She did learn some portion of the truth in Vault 4, but largely,...

The Last of Us is one of the few franchises that has made picking a PlayStation over Microsoft’s Xbox worth it in the last decade. The first installment of the series was released back in 2013, and since then has received a sequel as well as a live-action remake owing to its ever-growing popularity.
A still from The Last of Us: Part 2
The sequel to the game was received well by the audience, as it delivered a well-deserved continuation to the storyline every single fan had been waiting for ever since the first title came out. However, Neil Druckmann, the executive producer of the game, has revealed how the TLoU Part 2 had a much darker ending, which would easily make every player riot as it is what everybody wanted all along.

James Cameron’s Hollywood career has been nothing but outstanding throughout his many decades as a movie director. In the list of the highest-grossing movies of all time, Cameron confidently holds several top spots; he’s famous and celebrated across different genres from romantic drama to sci-fi; and he’s unapologetic when it comes to work, being a perfectionist to the bone.
But even James Cameron has his guilty cinematic pleasures — and he doesn’t shy away from them.
What Is James Cameron’s Guilty Pleasure Movie?
Generally speaking, you’d expect the director of Cameron’s scale to indulge in something huge, dramatic, and classic, but that’s not exactly the case. While talking to Empire in 2020, the Avatar director admitted that his favorite flick is… A “cheesy and formulaic” live-action video game adaptation from 2002, over two decades ago.

Back in 2000, director Ridley Scott took us back to 180 Ad for Gladiator, which told the story of Roman general Maximus Decimus Meridius (played by Russell Crowe), who is favored by Emperor Marcus Aurelius to be his successor because his own son, Commodus, is unfit to rule. Commodus disagrees, so he murders his father, has Maximus arrested, and has Maximus’s wife and son killed. While Commodus establishes himself as the new emperor, Maximus escapes from captivity – only to be captured again, this time by slavers who sell him off to become a gladiator. Soon he’s fighting in front of Commodus in Rome’s Colosseum… and it all builds up to Commodus challenging Maximus to a duel. Gladiator was a major box office success and racked up multiple Academy Award wins, including Best Picture. So there was already talk of a sequel in 2001, but it ended up taking more than...

The gaming community just resurfaced from the Helldivers 2 chaos over the past week, only for Sony to potentially land itself in trouble again. After officially taking back its Psn linking mandate from the game made by Arrowhead Studios, it seems that the company is now pushing for the same requirement on another title. However, it might not be that bad this time around.
Publishers of Helldivers 2 have now decided to go after another game for the same Psn mandate
Made by Sucker Punch Productions, Ghost of Tsushima is another one of first-party PlayStation games, and is now under the spotlight once again as Sony is set to bring an unexpected change to the game before it finally gets released to players on PC soon.

Stellar Blade is a title that has been one of the most anticipated titles this year, and despite initially receiving flak from critics and the gaming fraternity for its art style, it was still appreciated for its core elements.
However, after the game’s reveal, many gamers dismissed the title, calling it a Nier Automata clone, and the comparisons haven’t ended even after the game’s release. While in hindsight, the hack-and-slash element and the female protagonist are the two common elements, they are fundamentally different titles.
The Similarities between Stellar Blade and Nier Automata Stellar Blade and Automata have a lot of things in common.
When one loads up the game, the first impression that it receives is based on its graphics. While both games look fantastic, Nier Automata came out in 2016, loosely eight years before Stellar Blade. Hence, the difference in graphical fidelity is noticeable between the two titles.

EW has shared two new official promo stills for Alien: Romulus as part of their summer preview, and one of 'em pays homage to a scene from Aliens.
In James Cameron's follow-up to Ridley Scott's '70s classic, Corporal Hicks (Michael Biehn) shows Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) how to use a pulse rifle before the crew land in some real pretty sh*t with the attacking Xenomorphs, and the moment is recreated here with Archie Renaux's Tyler and Cailee Spaeny's Rain Carradine.
The second image gives us another look at a Xenomorph about to give an unfortunate crew member a very bad day.
While the previous movies focused on blue-collar colleagues, soldiers, and prisoners, director Fede Alvarez explains how Romulus will take a different approach by introducing a group of characters who have become as close as family.

Some people say they prefer video games to any kind of TV show these days, and it's not hard to see why. Not only do games offer amazing stories and great graphics, but they also draw you in and make you feel like a part of the universe in which the events take place.
However, games take time, skill, and patience, and they're not for everyone. So, if you are interested in some of the plots of video games, but want to sit back and relax while watching them, here are 8 best adaptations that might be a perfect choice.
8. Sonic Prime (2022-...) – 60%
The fate of the world is once again in Sonic's hands as he must use his super speed to save the newly created multiverse. Although the latest installment of the famous hedgehog's journey didn't impress audiences too much, viewers were much more appreciative, giving the show an 86% approval rating.

Welcome to Emmy Experts Typing, a weekly column in which Gold Derby editors and Experts Joyce Eng and Christopher Rosen discuss the Emmy race — via Slack, of course. This week, we take another gander at the wide-open drama races.
Christopher Rosen: Hello, Joyce! We’re back to our favorite 2024 Emmys genre: drama! I kid, of course, but there is something still dramatic about this year’s drama categories – even as we (I) wait with bated breath to see which limited series blinks and joins the party in these final days, pre-printed FYC ads be damned. For now, we’re all operating on the idea that “The Crown” is the favorite here, but that feels like it’s operating on more vibes than reality. The final season of the Emmy Award-winning series was certainly better received than its preceding season… but it was a far cry from the sweeping fourth season.

Turtles All The Way Down, adapted from John Green’s best-selling novel, is finally coming to UK TV screens this month.

Video game adaptations have been all the rage in recent years, following successes like The Last of Us and Fallout. So, it was only a matter of time before Fortnite joined the conversation. The Fortnite movie discussion has been swirling in the air for quite some time now. It’s become such a hot topic that it’s caught the attention of fans, and rumors have it, even of filmmakers like Zack Snyder and Louis Leterrier.

If there was a list of the most violent games ever, Mortal Kombat and the Grand Theft Auto franchise would surely be on it. Which other games would make it to the list? When it comes to violence in video games, we have a long list.

The Last of Us: Part 2 is seen by many as one of the most prominent games of the last generation. The reason for that is simple enough: most gamers loved this game’s writing. They loved the story, and they empathized with most of its characters. There were a bunch of naysayers too, but every game has its critics.
Naughty Dog and Neil Druckmann put a lot of work into this sequel. Not just its story, but its dialogue, its music, and its motion capture—every element of this game screamed perfection. Besides being a perfect example of an excellent action survival horror game, The Last of Us: Part 2 was also full of numerous references. But one of them hit harder than others, and there was a huge reason why the developers included it in the game.

The Fallout series has been a huge success and proves once again how live-action adaptations of video games are not a bad idea after all. Following in the footsteps of Halo and The Last of Us, the TV show has become one of the best-performing releases on its respective platforms, and the showrunners have teased how the fun has just begun.
The Fallout TV Series has proven to be a huge success
While the series is getting praised for its excellent world-building and the great understanding of its source material, it is still missing a lot of elements, including Deathclaws, something which co-showrunner Graham Wagner has revealed the studio is looking forward to adding soon in the coming seasons.

Exclusive: Hundreds more layoffs are incoming at Dune and Oppenheimer VFX firm Dneg.
Deadline is told that the outfit has kicked off a consultation process in at least the UK and Canada, which could see an exodus of around 5% of Dneg’s circa-10,000-strong global workforce. Dneg had not responded to comment requests by press time.
Layoffs are understood to be somewhat concentrated within R&d teams and are a response to the challenged market, which has not eased up since the Hollywood strikes ended and has not improved sufficiently after Dneg brought in a pay offer for staff last year.
In the UK, where sources say the number of layoffs is predicted to be around 100, Bectu boss Philippa Childs said the union is “continuing to do everything we can to support our members who are affected by these redundancies.”
“We know this will be a very worrying time for anyone working at Dneg,...

A new image from Fede Alvarez's Alien: Romulus has been released (via USA Today), and it gives us another look at one of the movie's Xenomorphs as it bares its terrifying metallic teeth
A few subtle changes aside, the titular creature has pretty much remained the same since it first debuted in Ridley Scott's original classic, and it doesn't look like Romulus is going to alter the design to any great extent.

Last August, developers Fallen Leaf and Black Drakkar Games teamed up with publisher Dear Villagers to bring the world a sci-fi horror video game called Fort Solis, which was directed by James Tinsdale and featured performances from Roger Clark (Red Dead Redemption 2), Julia Brown (World on Fire) and Troy Baker (The Last of Us). Now Fallen Leaf and Black Drakkar have signed a deal with Studios Extraordinaires to develop film and TV adaptations, with the directing duo of André Hedetoft and Andreas Troedsson set to take the helm of the Fort Solis movie!
Hedetoft told IGN they were drawn to the material because “You get a super cinematic immersive experience when you play it, you have amazing characters and actors that brought them to life in the game, and you have some really creative people behind it, and I think that’s exactly the kind of dream project to do.

Breaking the long-standing curse of disappointing video game adaptations, Fallout and The Last of Us have now attained a gold-standard status amongst gamers being delivered faithful small-screen versions of games they pour hours into. This comes after years of inaccurate and shoddy live-actions that have left a stain on the industry, and for viewers and gamers alike.

And while Ubisoft has broken our hearts with a terrible Assassin’s Creed adaptation, there is one more game that is now thought to be long dead.

Last year, New Line Cinema went all-in on a partnership with Barbarian (watch it Here) writer/director Zach Cregger and the film’s producers at BoulderLight Pictures. New Line came out the winner in a bidding war over Cregger’s next film, a mysterious horror project called Weapons… which was, at one point, set to star Pedro Pascal of The Last of Us. Pascal had to drop out due to scheduling issues when he was cast in the Marvel movie Fantastic Four – but Cregger is still assembling an interesting cast for the film. We’ve previously heard that Dune, Avengers: Infinity War, and No Country for Old Men star Josh Brolin and Julia Garner, who is best known for her work on the series Ozark (for which she won three Emmy awards), are set to star in Weapons. Now Deadline reports that Alden Ehrenreich of Solo, Oppenheimer, Cocaine Bear, and Hail, Caesar!

Melanie Lynskey apparently never has to nag Jason Ritter to take out the garbage.
Lynskey had recent starring roles in Candy, The Last of Us and Yellowjackets. She credits Ritter with taking care of her and their 5-year-old daughter while she focuses on work.
“He’s the most supportive person in the world,” Lynskey tells People in this week’s issue. “The last few years we’ve had this role of like, whoever’s job makes the most sense, whether it’s the most exciting career wise or it’s more money, we would prioritize the one that was going to help move the person’s career forward.”
That comes at the expense of Ritter’s career, as he’s been “getting offered stuff all the time” and has been passing on those offers to support Lynskey.
“It’s like genuinely sacrificing,” she says.

Melanie Lynskey recently told People magazine that her husband and fellow actor Jason Ritter has sacrificed his own career in recent years so that hers could flourish. Lynskey has been on a roll lately with an Emmy-nominated and series regular role on Showtime’s “Yellowjackets,” plus acclaimed supporting turns in “The Last of Us,” “Candy” and more. None of this career success would be possible had Ritter not put his own acting career on pause to help raise their five-year-old daughter while Lynskey took acting gigs.

The overwhelming praise for Prime Video's Fallout has demonstrated that inspired and absurd video game shows can appeal to modern audiences.
While we're accustomed darker and more serious adaptations, Fallout proves there is room on the schedule for many thematic differences from the gaming world to move to TV. But not all attempts are equal.
Many video game adaptations come across as dark and grim as the show creators try to make their show seem edgy and aggressive, even if the game itself was not.
Sometimes, that backfires on them. But how did that become the prevailing tone in the first place?
We can look at Halo as an example. The Paramount+ series tried to bring a more serious note when all the fans really wanted to see was The Masterchief beat the covenant -- without ever seeing his face. Tying a leading man to the helmet, though, was a giveaway that change was ahead.
