Another Filler Episode
claudio_carvalho16 January 2019
Setrakian and his team return to the pawnshop regretting not destroying the Master. He sits near a vampire heart in a jar and recalls what happened many years ago in Albania with his beloved family. Dutch succeeds to broadcast Eph using a test network and he warns the population about the vampires. Out of the blue they discover that they are under siege of the vampires that are attacking the shop. Meanwhile Gus abducts Alonso to his office first and them to visit smuggled containers at the harbor. When he opens the container, he finds a horde of vampires locked inside and they need to fight to survive. The Master visits Thomas Eichorst.

"Last Rites" is another filler episode of "The Strain" where basically the most important is the last scene. Setrakian´s past in flashbacks is not engaging and only completes the running time. My vote is seven.

Very good pre-finale episode
Brettyboy00729 September 2014
This episode was great! Overall, it was good. Dutch returns which I was a little skeptical since her last appearance had no reason to be there. But I think she proved herself again as her character as she comes up with a way to be able to broadcast Eph's warning about the vampire plague.

The majority of the episode was told in Abraham flashbacks. I thought they were well made. They really captured how Abraham came to be in possession of that vampire heart in his pawn shop. He does the ultimate sacrifice.

The other half of the episode was Gus meeting with the guy from an earlier episode and eventually leading to a horrid discovery ending with a big point from the book. This I will not say anything about.

A big growth in Nora's character happens in this episode. Find out what it is.

So sad it's ending next Sunday.

Miriam's heart

Warning: Spoilers
Nora's mother was bitten and she had to behead her. Eichorst raided the pawnshop and they had to leave thru a secret passageway. Setrakian was in Albania trying to kill vampires and Eichorst made his family turn into vampires. Gus was abducted by vampire looking men fighting against vampires. It was Setrakians late wife's vampire heart which is in the bottle down in the basement of the pawnshop. The master healed the sick old guy in the company.

Intense Episode [8.8/10]

Warning: Spoilers
Reaction / Review for The Strain Season 1 Episode 12: Episode 11 was good and I gave it a rating of 8.6/10. I wanna see the story about the vampire heart Setrakian has. Young Setrakian's facial hair looks so fake. Gus is looking for trouble. Dutch is the classic hacker who can do pretty much anything the plot needs. Finally, we see Eichorst again! The good vampire is back, I was wondering where he is. But why does he want Gus? Nora's mom is infected, I feel bad for her. Nora cutting off the head of her mother was intense. I don't understand something. If Setrakian killed his wife, how the heart is alive? Finally, Palmer becomes a vampire! An amazing episode overall, my rating is 8.8/10.

Flawed broadcast
mvrampersad11 September 2017
Warning: Spoilers
In the scenario where Eph is allowed to broadcast his message, it would have been more effective for him to say what the general population could do to counter the attacks - he could've made better use of the short time available to give out good advice such as the use of UV lights, sunlight, modified nailguns, shoot at the head, protect your throat etc. Instead he chooses to explain what's happening and his idea of a cure. Reassuring no doubt, but useless given the urgency of having the population rise up against the strigoi.
