There are only very extreme reviews out for this movie, and I want to add another more moderate one. I think it is obvious to anybody who has seen even just the trailer that this movie is neither 10/10 nor 1/10 stars. I give it a good 7/10, because it delivers on its main goal: to entertain.

The movie itself is a weird mixture of gore, references and jokes, and that is a very peculiar combination and certainly not for everybody. But if you know what you are getting into and you get on board with it, it can be a very entertaining and enjoyable ride. Most of the characters aren't very fleshed out and the story is obviously ridiculous, but this is to be expected from such a movie. The execution is pretty impressive, not just for the given budget. The (over)acting is very passable and at times even good, which helps set the tone for the film (obviously bordering on silly).

This is not Oscar material, and it is not a huge studio production, but I found it to be quite entertaining and funny and worth a (re)watch. Keeping in mind that this is a micro-budget film, I might even have gone a little higher, but in the big picture, this boils down to a 7/10 for me.

So this is my first review here on IMDb, but I read on that was mostly negative and I just had to defend this trash jewel. This is a very fun movie it has great special effects, like old horror movies that don't rely on CGI at all. A Micheal Bay fan will not enjoy this gore fest. If you love movies that are made to be bad like Kung Fury or Black dynamite then you are going to love this one. Give it a try seriously. Summary: I'll try to keep this short and spoiler free. A stereotypical over the top fraternity is suspended from campus due to a prank gone wrong. They are send to an old haunted house in the woods. After that it all follows a known recipe horror fans know and enjoy. The director did a good job making the movie look like a 70's horror film. The writing team also did a great job as there were lots of funny jokes. The comedy part is also the best part of the movie, don't expect to be scared if you have seen a lot of horror movies before. 7/10

How to make a faithful third film in a trilogy with no predecessors: Add 1 part homage and 2 parts parody to every 5 parts absurdity. Add knives to taste. Shake well, pour over freshly cut oranges, and serve with incomparable enthusiasm.

Over several years of producing content almost daily, 5secondfilms fed us comedy that was alternately screwball, offbeat, dark, uncomfortably dry, cerebral, referential, and or often just outright absurd. We were also given content that explored horror, or more serious topics. All the while, they dedicated themselves first and foremost to the challenge of telling complete stories in videos that were only 5 seconds long.

Following on the occasional foray into more long-form shorts of a colossal 5 minutes (or more!), 'Dude bro party massacre III' leaps to the only logical conclusion of producing a full-length feature film. Based on a previous 5-second video of long before, it maintains the "anything goes" spirit of that extra-short short, and of 5secondfilms' many others.

DBPM3 is as much an homage to campy slashers of yore as it is a parody, taking aim in particular at dubious titles like 'Slumber party massacre' or 'Sleepaway camp.' The cast of 5sf, with their hands in all aspects of the film behind and in front of the camera, know very well what worked about slasher horror films from the '80s, and what didn't, and treat those aspects appropriately. At the same time, an abundance of their characteristically surreal humor is thrown in - perhaps so much so that a viewer otherwise unfamiliar with the troupe may find themselves just scratching their head.

If anything - trying to step back from a perspective of a 5sf fan, and to view this picture more generally - that is maybe the most notable flaw of the movie. Anyone CAN enjoy 'Dude bro party massacre III,' and it's designed that way. But not everyone WILL enjoy it, because it also is first and foremost a love letter to 5secondfilms' many fans. The absurdist humor can be difficult to parse. Like a lot of comedy, and it seems Internet sketch comedy especially: for all their collective genius, there are some shorts in 5sf's vast filmography that maybe haven't aged well due to the topics they broached, or that in the first place were so wrapped up in their own premise, their own absurdity, that they forgot to be funny. Though not so much as to totally hinder the production, these faults are echoed here as well. None of which is to say that DBPM3 is bad, because it's definitely not - but it's more complicated than a simple thumbs-up or thumbs-down.

5sf's shorts at times included a number of surprising guest stars, and their feature film is no exception as Patton Oswalt, Larry King, and Andrew W.K. make appearances, among others. The real stars, though, are of course the cast of 5secondfilms, and they bring as much talent and flippancy to their roles here as in any of their shorts. One can only hope that the future has big things in store for them all, because if one thing has proven true throughout all of 5sf's content, it's that these folks work very hard, are very funny, and have the skills to pull off just about anything.

'Dude bro party massacre III' is essential viewing for fans of 5secondfilms, or for anyone who appreciates Internet sketch comedy generally. For a more general audience it may be a lot to take in, but not impossibly so: approach with an open mind, relax your body and your preconceptions, and soak in the very unserious fun.

While more complicated than a simple good-bad dichotomy, the heart and energy that is poured into this movie make it very clear that this is the same 5secondfilms - just in a much longer format. Whether it's entirely up your alley or not, DBPM3 is a an appropriate, well-deserved capstone to years of entertaining content.

So this is a low budget comedy horror flick that is recommended on a lot of specialized sites as a have to see flick. So I did and what I saw left me with mixed emotions.

I've been saying it for years, comedies in the horror genre coming out of the USA are mostly not funny at all and this is anothet example. The jokes are childish, bizarre and never even I got a smile on my face let even say that my lips moved once. But I guess this kind of humor isn't for me.

So I start watching it as a horror flick and that was much better. The story itseld is pure slasher style but it's the effects used that are a must see. Not that they are Oscar worthy but the first 10 to 15 minutes are really a gorefest. Once the movie starts you really have to wait more then an hour before things go messy again. But for me those first minutes are the best of this flick.

Overall a crappy flick with almost nothing to tell.

Hey, I'm a big fan of comedy horror...and this is...1 to to watch when drunk or wasted or with friends while drunk. This movie knows exactly what it is...a very bad comedy horror that is a parody of 80s slasher flicks. That's really all I neec to say. Explains the whole premise. If you love parody/ comedy-horror, then this is what you need to watch! It is currently "free" on Amazon Prime as of May 10th, 2020.

Still haunted by a vicious killer, a man's twin pledges his dead brother's fraternity to find out what happened to him, and when they arrive at a secluded house in the woods for a party his quest is interrupted by the responsible killer out to finish the job and must save his friends.

This was a rather fun if slightly troubling effort. When this one works best, it's due to the highly impressive and enjoyable body count here which is one of the selling points. By featuring so many deaths throughout here, ranging from the opening massacres that supposedly depict the previous rampages where the brother escaped the multitude of attacks launched against him by the deformed killer throughout his life which allows for the recapping of previous faux incidents which generate plenty of gory highlights in the wild decapitations, stabbings, slit throats and bashings that are quite frequent in the first half. The second half, where the killer arrives to finish knocking off the group which has a lot to like here with the different random attacks including the ambush in the tent on the screwing couple, a fun surprise appearance at a trap in the woods where a victim is pulled out from under a tree by pulling them in half or the rampage through the house in the last half which has plenty of fun chasing and gory highlights amongst the endless round of stalking to be had. These here hold it up over its main flaws. The main aspect to this one that really holds it back is the most obvious feature in that it's really not that funny at all. For what is supposedly a parody of these kinds of films, there's no real sense that this is a parody at all for the situation is played mostly straight and doesn't really provide this with any kind of sending up the genre that's required for these kinds of features since it just has stupidity replace that type of content. Instead of generating the laughs present in this kind of situation, it just generates frustration as their too stupid and utter morons as the characters aren't endearing or sympathetic which makes them unlikable to follow so their antics aren't enjoyable. On top of that, to stick with hanging out with these people for as long as we do makes the slasher setpieces held off until the end of the film as it takes about an hour to start killing off the cast in earnest as the first half is dragged out with plenty of lame humor and attempted skits which isn't the point of the kinds of films. The final half is rushed, as a result, filled with the revelations coming one after another as a result of putting so much lame humor and jokes instead of the setup of the killer's rationale which is just lame and makes no sense. On top of some silly special effects work that gives away the prosthetics of how they were created, these here are what hold this back.

Rated Unrated/R: Graphic Violence, Graphic Language, Nudity, a comedic sex scene and continuous alcohol consumption.

Dudebro is a blatant farce on found footage movies, on straight-to-TV flicks, on horror tropes, etc.

If anyone has seen the shorts made by 5SecondMovies, the company behind this production, they'll know that all the stupid, often terribly executed effects and plot devices are intentional.

It's a chance to revel in the mediocrity of it all, a chance to sit back and laugh at the actors and the genres the film represents as a whole. It's very self aware, and all-the-more moving in it's desire to be nothing more than fun and fancy-free. Something Hollywood should be more willing to capitalize on in an age where cynicism has become a cruise control to cool.

This movie is not for everyone. I can see how there would be an audience for it, however. The same kinds of people who loved SCARY MOVIE should get a kick out this one. It's got that same kind of vibe to it. It falls into the same sub-genre.

As for me, there was nothing here to enjoy. Bad acting, bad directing, and bad jokes. There were a few relatively fun moments, and by that I mean only a small portion of this film was not totally awful. But overall it was a waste of my time. Do not recommend.

Full disclosure: I've been a fan of 5SF for years and even bought tickets to the world premiere at the LA Film fest so I'm probably a fanboy.

There are a plethora of horror comedies out there, and many self aware entries into the genre will poke fun at their own tropes, but never before like this. The best summary of DBPM3 I could give would be Friday the 13th mixed with Airplane mixed with the volleyball scene from Top Gun. The film has one of the highest jokes per minute rate of any I've ever seen: any duds or misses are swiftly forgotten when another joke is laid out less than 10 seconds later. It grabs a hold of your funny bone and mercilessly throttles it, I felt physically exhausted by the end.

Even though it is a satire of 80's slashers, most of the jokes are timeless, and don't require extensive knowledge of the genre/time period to understand (and good thing too, I imagine the target audience was still in diapers during the 80's). It attempts to recreate the poor quality film making of low budget slashers, and largely succeeds, to the point where I couldn't tell which mistakes were intentional (i imagine most of them)

The only stumbling block for me was the side plot involving Officer Sminkle. Although funny at times, it seemed to drag on, and was only tangentially related to the plot. For me it never seemed to join cohesively with the action at the frat.

My advice? Get a group of friends and a case of beer before viewing this movie. It is strong on its own merits, but seems to have been created with group viewing in mind.

The Plot.

In the wake of two back-to-back mass murders on Chico's frat row, loner Brent Chirino must infiltrate the ranks of a popular fraternity to investigate his twin brother's murder at the hands of the serial killer known as "Motherface."

Stoopid plot.

First of all the two amazing reviews here are written by clowns who worked on the film. Why does IMDb allow that? I guess they can't control it. This is not a 10 or 10 movie by ANY stretch of the imagination.

It's yet another found footage mess of a movie. Example -- within the first 2 minutes. A therapist takes a pencil out of a pencil case and it makes a knife metal sound. Then in the two shot she doesn't even have the pencil anymore!

OMG. Amateurs at work

Special effects? Think actual drawings for buildings!!!! Not even CGI!!! And somehow Larry King is in this film! And a like 60 year old porn star. The "college" kids all look like they are pushing 40. The acting is horrible.

Absolutely the most stupidest movie I have ever seen. The plot is senseless, I've seen better acting in a children's play, and the directing is less than mediocre. Absolutely a waste of my time!!!

Anyone who gave this movie a positive review either worked on it, or thinks "Idiocracy" was a historical drama. I've seen plenty of bad films, but I can't really think of one worse than this. Even "Manos. the Hands of Fate" was better, and had more laughs.

I enjoy many online entertainers. From The Cinema Snob to Red Letter Media, there's a lot of people who make great content online. One of my favorites is 5 Second Films. They are a group of people based in Los Angeles who make short films that are only five seconds long. They had a new film every weekday for five years and during the fifth year, they launched a Kickstarter to make a feature length film called Dude Bro Party Massacre III, based on one of their short films. They needed $200,000 and they got $240,000. So they got to make their dream project and just a little over two years after the Kickstarter was launched, it's finally out.

I've been a fan of 5 Second Films since 2011, when I discovered them through Patton Oswalt on twitter. I immediately loved their bizarre, twisted and sometimes dark sense of humor. I'm really impressed how funny their shorts can be in just 5 seconds. So to see what they can do with a feature film is very exciting. Dude Bro Party Massacre III is a tribute to 80s slasher flicks that many of the 5SF members loved when they were teenagers. The reason they decided to make the third film in the series is because that's usually the film in this genre where things get really bizarre and insane. The nonexistent first two films are recapped in the first five minutes of this movie. After Brock (Alec Owen) is killed by Motherface (Olivia Taylor Durdley), his twin brother Brent (Owen, again) must investigate his murder and gain the trust of the Delta Bi Theta fraternity that Brock was a part of. After the Deltas' senior prank goes horribly wrong, they must stay at the Old Sorority House by the lake. A plan is then set in motion by the police chief (Patton Oswalt), who is also a cult member, for Motherface to murder the Deltas.

Not only does this movie prove that 5 Second Films is absolutely capable of making full length movies, but I think they've made a comedy that puts many modern Hollywood comedies to shame. This film had me in tears twice, both times involving Brian Firenzi's Officer Sminkle, and provided lots of other great laughs throughout the whole film. 5 Second Films used every bit of their Kickstarter funds wisely and have crafted one of the best comedies of this decade so far. The direction, the writing, the acting, the practical effects, etc., it's all great. The humor is so detailed and well written, that there may have been some jokes or visual gags I may have missed. The film is full of insanely weird twists that are all hilarious. There's a line early on in the film that is funny on its own, but when it actually has payoff at the end, it's kind of genius. This is a fantastic tribute to 80s slasher movies as well. The practical gore effects are excellent and the movie does a perfect job of capturing that 80s horror movie feel. I enjoy that this movie has the gender reversal where the boys are sexually objectified and terrorized instead of the girls.

The level of detail is fantastic. What they were able to do in their shorts, is amplified in this movie. The movie is made to look like it was a midnight movie recorded off a VCR and is the single remaining copy of the film. The movie has brief commercial breaks that are little short films of their own. They're very funny and don't interrupt the flow of the actual feature.

The cast is great. Alec Owen is a great lead as Brent. The Delta Bi members are all very funny and they bring a distinct personality to each of their characters. Paul Prado, in particular as Turbeaux, steals a lot of the scenes he's in. The character I enjoyed the most was Officer Sminkle played by 5 Second Films creator, Brian Firenzi. Like I mentioned earlier, there were scenes with him that had me in tears, I was laughing so hard. He and his girlfriend, Maria Del Carmen, share their scenes together and they play off of each other very well. She plays Sminkle's partner and she covers up her English accent very well. Olivia Taylor Durdley is really good as Motherface. She's kind of a typical killer, but she plays it well. Kelsey Gunn is also really funny as one of the Delta Bi member's girlfriend, Samantha.There are some great cameos as well. Patton Oswalt is great as the chief, Greg Sestero and Andrew WK play Delta Bi members and even Larry King shows up in the opening recap.

Dude Bro Party Massacre III is one of my favorite comedies of this decade. 5 Second Films has proved that they can make feature length films with the amount of detail and care that they've put into this film. If you enjoy bizarre, twisted humor and fun throwbacks to 80s slasher movies, then I highly recommend this film.

Why make the first or the second movie, when you can start with the third one and just briefly use a couple of minutes telling the plot of the first two :) This is deliberately tacky, it is made like a VHS video, old and pretty bad quality, but it is part of the style, the bad bad style.

This is the weirdest movie, you shouldn't always believe the reviews of the internet, even though it is deliberately trying to be a b-movie it is not really working for it, this just becomes more and more strange and it really sucks actually. Had this been made in the late 80 it would have killed, or had it been (the style suggest it) one of the genre movies of Peter Jackson well then it would have been alright, but to deliver this in 2015 well it's just not the same.

The issue I believe that Dude Bro Party Massacre III (DBPM3) holds is that it is entirely based off of a short sketch by the comedy troupe that made the film. In the sketch, which true to the troupe's name is only 5 seconds long, it basically shows a montage cheesy gore practical effects and murders in an homage to 80's slasher flicks. This isn't meant to be a slasher flick, this is supposed to be a parody of the genre.

The plot itself, like the 3rd movie in a cheap slasher franchise is rather goofy when watched without context. However with context you can start to make comparisons to later franchise sequels where they've run out of plot devices and they have to get crazy and lazy to pump out something of a coherent script.

When it comes to visual effects however, this movie is your deal. It has plenty of gore. Unreal amounts of blood, nasty organs, and plenty of murders. True to the movie's name there is quite the Massacre and the kills just keep coming in increasingly innovative and purposefully ironic ways.

5 Second Films, the group who made the sketch and the movie is really a comedy-centric cluster of people. The acting on many accounts is above par, especially when it comes to delivering absurd lines or doing crazy actions. When you watch DBPM3, you need to enter it expecting something goofy and cheesy.

If you're a fan of 5 Second Films, you probably crowdfunded it so you already like it, but if you didn't you need to watch this. They managed to take one of their surreal sketches and flesh it out into a 90 minute gore-fest as an homage and satire of 80s B-list slasher films.

For excellent effects, satire, acting, and ambition, I give it a solid 10. Especially so, as a movie should not be gimped purely on the fact that you do not understand it's source material and it's true intention.

The third installment of a franchise that technically had no prequels.

Dude Bro Party Massacre III is easily going to be a cult film for the new generation. The effects were great and motherfaces one liners reminded me scream in a lot of ways but without all the cringe. I recommend this to anyone who is willing to sit down for a good laugh and a decent story.

Let me just start out by saying, I'm an avid Horror movie fan and also I have a major love for comedy. Dude Bro Party Massacre III was everything I hoped it would be and more. Witty, Smart, Weird, Gory, Hysterical, and just about everything in between.

It's more then just an 80's slasher spoof as well. DBPM3 has multiple layers and so many things going on. It's one of those films you could watch again and again, and still find new things to laugh at. I especially loved the UHF style commercials, and the copied straight from VHS look and feel. All the writers and the directors outdid themselves! The acting and the cast are just as awesome. I just wanted to give a special shout out to Paul Prado as Turbeaux. That character is truly something special. He definitely will go down in the Frat Dude hall of fame with that one! Long story short, If you're a comedy fan and or a horror movie fan you will love this to death! I read in some other reviews online that said Dude Bro Party Massacre III is to 80's Slasher flicks, as Wet Hot American Summer is to teen camp movies. 2 totally different films, but the spirit is definitely there.

This movie knows exactly what it's doing and what crowd it's aiming for: campy gore horror that's actually damn funny. This flick is a great time and has some great comedic moments. Normally humor is an afterthought in horror movies, but DBPMIII pulls it off right and the actors pull of the material perfectly. The writers and direction treat the material with respect and you can tell this was made with love in every way. If you want something serious, this aint it, but if you love films like Tucker and Dale vs Evil, Murder Party and Hatch, you're in for a treat.

Just finished watching this movie,and I must say I was thrilled!!!I knew exactly what I was getting into,and I must say it's been quite a while since I last saw such a great movie!It's not Godfather of course,and it's not suited for all tastes,but if you are into cult horror/splasher comedies,with lots of gore and lots of laughs (a lot of them childish...but...even better :-D ),then this movie trully is a gem!congrats to the production team!!!

If you like b rare horror films or horror comedies this is essentially the holy grail of both genres. The film doesn't pretend to be anything it's not. Very dumb. Very gory. Very good.

I've never written a review for a movie before. Just watched this one and I was laughing from begging to end. Some people give it a thumbs down because of special effects and overacting of the characters but that's what makes this movie so much fun to watch. Anybody who thinks anything here was done unintentionally is kidding themselves, commercial breaks in the middle of the movie and any silly and amateurish elements are done on purpose to add comedic effect and it works brilliantly.

I watched this film, thoroughly enjoyed it and laughed myself to death. I watched it again, and again, and felt clever and silly, and laughed a fresh laugh again: maybe because this little piece of art, of heart, is the work of people who won't stop their creativity for the sake of elegance or film-making.

The film endorses its parodied genre to full extent, therefore I don't see anyone without an appeal for slasher movies go through it all. On the other hand, not much knowledge is required to appreciate the dismembering of all the tried and true clichés.

Overall a highly enjoyable movie, with no real downside, and quite diverse despite being a revisitation of films that are originally quite monotone.

Recommended to all the breathing people.

I noticed a lot of bad reviews on this movie, and had to chime in. There are people complaining about acting, or special effects or anything similar, itsj ust that you don't understand the movie or the intent or comedy behind it. Its meant to look and be bad, like a 80's b rated shot on film movie from the 80's

This movie is really funny, there is plenty of gore and off the wall/off kilter comedy to be had here. Its probably one of the funnier horror comedies I have seen and I don't even like horror comedies that much

I was lucky enough to stumble across this movie at the LA Film Festival back in '15 and loved the concept immediately. I've shown it at a coupe movie nights and, even as an existing fan, I get surprised by how well the movie does in a crowd. Don't take the movie too seriously - it's over-the-top silly fun, but has a ton of cleverness to it too. Visually, they really capture the look of an '80s horror Sleepaway Camp style slasher movie. Super funny & very re-watchable!

Just as some movies that should be great turn out to be awful, some movies that should be awful turn out to be great - Dude Bro Party Massacre III. Unfortunately, for a film that's based on a Frat party gone wrong, none of the current Frat members are going to admit to liking it now. Few will give it a chance and realize the direction is good, the acting is good, the music is good, that it's exciting, funny, scary, suitably epic and absolutely action-packed and that it looks fantastic.

What looks like suicide at first glance - converting an average Chico party into a full-length feature - gets more appealing when you look at the source material closer. The real party was an epic hybrid of Dude broness and parties, with ancient teachers and janitors mixing with sex and murder. It also has a classic Alfred Hitchcock Birds feel, mixing Ancient Greece-era symbols and people who don't understand their significance.

Dude Bro Party Massacre III succeeds because it takes the real experience of College and adapts not it's superficial qualities, but it's essence into a movie, turning it into a mature Homedy. This is where so many College based movies failed. They don't adapt their source material properly to make a successful feature film. You need to make the movie a natural progression from what it's based on, altering the look enough so it looks acceptable in real action, altering the characters into real people, choosing actors who can give real performances. It's not simply dressing superstars up as characters from a Fraternity, it's re-imagining the ideas as a movie. DBPM3 does this perfectly. You can fault it as a film itself, of course, but you can't fault it as an adaption.

The production design is superb, with some superbly realized sets and costumes. Everything has been adapted to look more realistic on the big screen. The cast give uniformly decent performances. Nobody lets the side down - these are all 3D characters. Alec Owen proves he's one of the young men in our society who can truly act. Patton Oswalt gives an outstanding performance as Chief, his powerful presence almost bursting out of the TV and into your living room. Oswalt gives a shining example to all actors portraying hooded figures. There is a pervading sense of dread whenever he appears and the script gives him some awesome lines which he delivers with pure comedy prowess.

Setting the movie in the middle of nowhere has it's advantages and disadvantages. It does give the film a human component. It also makes the murderer scarier - rather than being a distant psycho. On the other hand, it would have been cool to see some more of Chico and it's weird inhabitants and locations, but DBPM3 had a relatively small budget, so that sort of stuff was off limit anyway.

DBPM3 is also packed with action, and we do mean packed. There is an outbreak of violence every 15 minutes or so, usually even less, and there is variety and imagination among the content, unlike many Homedy films, which consist of repetitive one-liners and fart jokes. It could possibly be said that it's quality over quantity, as some of it, particularly the jokes, are extremely well filmed, and none of the jokes ever reaches critical mass. And all the horror grows organically from the story - none of it seems put in simply because the movie needed an extra scene at a certain point.

When Dude Bro Party Massacre III is released at cinemas this summer, people would realize how good it is compared to the blockbuster summer fare we get these days. And all for 400k, which is hardly anything.
