Whether you’re a Taylor Swift Lover (hey Swifties!) or you’ve inexplicably got Bad Blood with the global pop icon, she’s the reason you’ll have seen no Blank Space in your local cinema’s listings – or indeed seats – this week. The hotly anticipated release of three-hour concert spectacular Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour has stormed its way to a… Ready For It?... mammoth $128 million opening weekend at the box office, smashing records left, right, and centre in the process.
After just four days, the film – which sees Swift perform over 30 songs from 10 albums to a packed out crowd at Los Angeles, California’s 70,000 capacity SoFi stadium – has comfortably outstripped Justin Bieber: Never Say Never’s global cume of $99 million to become the highest grossing concert film of all-time. Sunday Am: The AMC distributed Taylor Swift: Eras Tour concert movie, per AMC, is eyeing an opening of $95M-$97M this Am, which means for them, the dust hasn’t settled yet. EntTelligence says 4.8M Swifties or people went to see Eras Tour this weekend, having paid an average of $20.75 for a ticket (across all formats). Anything above Joker‘s $96.2M opening is a record opening for the month of October.
But here’s the thing: rival distributors, which have access to all box office data, only see the pic as the second-best opener of October at around $94.3M. AMC, in their first wide release rodeo here, should be careful not to get over their skis, as team Swift will want to know where every nickel is coming from. Saturday is still estimated at $32.3M, which is a hair below Joker’s Saturday of $32.4M. A Sunday that’s...

With Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour pulling in the big bucks this weekend, we wanted to know what movie featuring the singer/ songwriter/ actress/ football fan is your favorite? The interesting thing is that none of the movies with Swift in them have been critical hits. The Lorax represents the biggest critical hit at 54% on Rotten Tomatoes while The Giver represents her best live action effort at just 35%. We are keeping this poll strictly to her narrative movies and not any of her music related content so you will have to decide if her lovelorn cheerleader from Valentines Day was your favorite or her more adult turn in David O’Russel’s Amsterdam is more your cup of tea.

Are you ready for it?
Several IndieWire staffers met up Friday night for what was supposed to be opening night of “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour” at a NYC theater. Anticipation? High. Energy level? Even higher. Drinks consumed? Unprecedented.
Taylor’s Eras tour concert film is so much concert film. It’s nearly three hours long and Swift is her supernova self, hustling through 17 years of music with eras both mellow and nostalgic. (A high point in our particular theater was the euphoric in-your-seat dancing to high school throwback “You Belong with Me.”) While the audience energy level was definitely higher than the kind you’d find with your typical Friday night cinephiles, the crowd mostly remained seated, and the singing along was kept simply to key lyrics.
It was a night filled with friendship bracelets, light up Taylor glow sticks (more on that later), and at least one homemade Taylor T-shirt.

AMC and Cinemark Theatres launched “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour” on October 13, giving fans an up-close look at the singer-songwriter in a concert film directed by Sam Wrench. The movie documents the superstar’s 2023-24 concert tour where she celebrates her entire discography. Swift struck an unprecedented distribution agreement with AMC Theatres and Cinemark Theatres.
The film’s premiere shut down the streets surrounding The Grove in Beverly Hills on Wednesday, and the guest list included Beyoncé, who will launch her own concert film, “Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé,” on December 1. Critics are heaping praise on Swift’s documentary, which holds a perfect 100% freshness rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Read our full review round-up below.

All these years later, Taylor Swift is still the girl on the bleachers.
Over the last several months, the Midnights star and Kansas City Chiefs player Travis Kelce have kindled an apparent romance that’s taken the entertainment world by storm. With Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour coming to theaters today and Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé set to arrive in December, 2023 could signal the return of the concert film in full force. At the very least, both projects are bound to break records. Swift's movie is already on the way to becoming the most profitable concert film in history, close to surpassing Michael Jackson's This Is It just with advance ticket sales. Hopefully, this triumph will be reflected in the picture's quality, though, with such titles, success is measured more in terms of the artists' popularity than the piece's cinematic verve. Still, it'd be erroneous to dismiss concert films for this reason – there are many masterpieces to be found in the non-fiction subgenre.

The premiere of Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour was the kind of glimmery spectacle only a superstar like Swift can create. From Swifties exchanging friendship bracelets with Taylor’s mom Andrea (by “Swifties,” we mean the writer typing this) to Beyoncé, yes, Beyoncé, posing for photos with Taylor on the red carpet, Thursday’s event proved to be nearly as magical as any of the Swift’s tour stops.
Outside of the venue, helicopters roamed, streets closed, and fans without tickets surrounded The Grove, the outdoor shopping mall in L.

In her Miss Americana documentary, Taylor Swift talks extensively about how she spent much of her career hyperfocused on external validation. At times, her need to please others — her family and friends, the music industry, and even complete strangers — came at the detriment of her own well-being.
That doesn’t appear to be the case anymore.
Just like the live concert (and possibly even more so), Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour is a complete celebration of her impressive 17-year career that puts Swift’s joy on full display and highlights that, perhaps for the first time, she is taking the stage for no one but herself.
And, of course, her fans — who she called a “main character” in the concert film while introducing it to audiences at The Grove in Los Angeles on Wednesday evening. She wasn’t lying.

Taylor Swift has the highest-grossing concert tour of the year, and she’s about to conquer movie theaters, as well. Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour, opening Friday, October 13, has already sold more than $100 million in advance ticket sales in 8,500 theaters across 100 countries around the world.
Will it have a world premiere?
Yes. The movie will have its world premiere screening Wednesday, October 11 at The Grove in Los Angeles. It hasn’t been confirmed whether Swift will attend, but she is on hiatus from her concert tour and, er, the Kansas City Chiefs don’t play until the next night at home on Thursday Night Football. The movie itself did receive a SAG-AFTRA interim agreement, which allows all parties to promote the film — which includes attending red carpets.

Exclusive: After sellout stadium shows all over the continent this year, and a lot of attention at a bunch of recent NFL games, Taylor Swift will be literally stopping traffic in Los Angeles on Wednesday. There will be road closures and more in the Fairfax District later today as the City of Angels braces for the world premiere of the superstar’s concert movie Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour at The Grove.
Several sources tell Deadline that the upscale, Rick Caruso-owned outdoor mall will be closed down all day today to prepare for the event, with Swift heavily buzzed to put in an appearance.

Just two months ago it seemed that “Barbenheimer” would mark the last huge event-release movie theaters would see for the foreseeable future. But thanks to AMC Theaters and Taylor Swift, this weekend is set to be the shot in the arm the box office needed with the release of the pop star’s “Eras” concert film.
With over $100 million already in the bag from worldwide presales, Swift is expected to challenge the October domestic opening weekend record currently held by “Joker” with $96 million.
Currently, independent trackers are conservatively projecting a mere $85 million, while exhibitors who spoke to TheWrap believe the film will become the first October release to exceed $100 million, with the most optimistic predictions topping out at $125 million.
To help stem the instability the ongoing actors strike is wreaking on the box office, AMC reached a deal in August with Swift’s team to distribute the film directly via a partnership with Variance Films,...

One of the most memorable and heartfelt ways to tell someone you're falling in love with them is through a cute love song. Even if you're not into writing your own tune, sharing a Spotify playlist full of songs about soulmates, songs about love at first sight, and songs about saying, "I love you," is a sweet and low-pressure way to get your feelings across. And thankfully, there is a wealth of songs about falling in love out there - across all genres - to show someone just how much you care for them.
The best love song, however, is the tune that resonates the most with you and your partner. So whether you prefer a slow, romantic ballad, a sexy song, or a song that's more upbeat, your love interest is certain to be falling just as hard for you after giving it a listen.

Universal/Blumhouse/Morgan Creek’s The Exorcist: Believer will continue horror’s head-spinning roll at the autumn box office with a $30M-$36M domestic start at 3,600 locations.
Currently, the R-rated reboot/sequel is trending demo-wise like The Nun 2, which saw a $32.6M opening, meaning it’s great with the 18-34 demographic, Hispanic and Latino audiences as well as older guys. Nun 2 skewed a tad more female at 52%, and it’s expected that this David Gordon Green-directed Exorcist installment will be around an even split as well. Universal will have Imax and Plf screens with previews starting Thursday at 5 p.m. We hear production cost of The Exorcist: Believer is $30M before P&a.

Fox’s “America’s Game of the Week” was the telecast of the week, averaging 24.3 million viewers, according to Nielsen. It ranked first among girls 12-17, women 18-34, women 18-49, and Swifties females of any age.
Thank you, Taylor Swift and. The pop sensation sat in Kansas City Chiefs star tight end Travis Kelce’s suite at Arrowhead Stadium, which caused a frenzy on social media as well as among the opportunistic Fox camera-operators. Even the game’s commentators seemed enamored by the situation. To be fair, there wasn’t much worth watching on the field — at least, not from the Chicago Bears’ side of the ball.
After the Chiefs amassed a 34-0 lead over the Bears, Fox shifted to broadcasting the Dallas Cowboys vs. Arizona Cardinals game. Since these are time-slot averages, the above viewer tally and demographic rankings include whatever pieces of each game were nationally televised. The...

UK industry bodies Bectu and the Writers Guild of Great Britain are saluting the tentative agreement reached on Sunday by the WGA and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers to end the writers strike after nearly five months. They also called for a speedy resolution to the SAG-AFTRA strike. The UK industry has been hard hit by the labor unrest on the other side of the Atlantic.
Broadcasting union Bectu, which reps more than 30,000 staff, contract and freelance workers in creative industries, welcomed news of the deal whose framework was finalized between the WGA and the AMPTP yesterday when they were able to untangle their stalemate over AI and writing room staffing levels.
However, Bectu also urged the AMPTP to resolve the ongoing actors strike. In a statement today, Bectu’s chief Philippa Childs said, “It’s now critical that the AMPTP directs all its energies into...

“What led to that being on air?,” questioned Director General Tim Davie of Russell Brand’s old BBC broadcasts today, as he set out the scope of the review into Brand, which should report back in “weeks not months.”
Addressing the allegations in an all-staff Q&a this afternoon, Davie said Peter Johnston, Director of Editorial Complaints and Reviews, will oversee the report.
“We’ll look at any complaints made about Russell Brand’s conduct during his time, what was known at the time, what was done – so full transparency, we’re digging into anything that we’ve got there,” he added. “I’m hoping for an initial report in weeks, not months. Cinemark, the nation’s third largest theater chain, is letting fans reserve auditoriums for Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour concert film, out this fall.
“We are excited to offer fans the ultimate Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour concert film VIP experience in their own private Cinemark auditorium,” said the chain’s chief marketing and content officer Wanda Gierhart Fearing, noting the “sensational” ticket sales for the film opening Oct. 13.
These promise to be a supercharged version of the private watch parties theaters have been offering for years, and which became a staple during Covid.
The AMC-distributed film, unveiled August 31, clocked in more than $37M from the three big theater circuits — AMC, Regal and Cinemark — in its first 24 hours of presales, Deadline reported. As every Swiftie knows, Taylor Swift is in the middle of rereleasing her first six albums as "Taylor's Version" - rerecorded versions that she owns. "Speak Now (Taylor's Version)" was released in July, and "1989 (Taylor's Version)" is coming in October. That leaves two albums that haven't been announced: "Reputation (Taylor's Version)" and "Taylor Swift (Taylor's Version)," the latter often referred to by fans as self-titled or debut.
And Swift's debut album is in a unique position in her discography. The album was released in 2006 - when Swift was just 16 years old - and it includes some of her very first hits, including "Tim McGraw" and "Teardrops on My Guitar." However, it's the only of her 10 albums that doesn't have a designated portion of the show in her Eras Tour. Instead, fans have only heard debut tracks during the "surprise song" portion of her shows.

Can Taylor Swift’s newly revealed concert movie continue the momentum of Barbenheimer — and Barbie in particular — and become a cultural rallying cry at the fall box office?
Cinema owners are counting on just that after last week’s surprise announcement that Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour concert film will hit theaters across the U.S. and Canada for several weekends, beginning Oct. 13. Several exhibition sources tell The Hollywood Reporter they believe the film could open to a record $100 million, based on brisk advance ticket sales. Nor are they ruling out the movie ultimately grossing $150 million or more domestically.
That’s welcome news amid the ongoing writers and actors strikes, which are prompting high-profile fall movies to delay their releases. Sony’s Kraven the Hunter, starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson as the Marvel antihero, relocated from Oct. 6 to next August. Warner Bros. and Legendary’s Dune: Part Two was slotted for Nov.

You know something massive is coming when AMC Theatres announces that it has "bolstered its ticket server capacity to handle traffic at more than five times the current record for the most ever tickets sold in an hour." That's the power of Taylor Swift.
Coming as a total surprise to fans, haters, and the entire Hollywood studio system alike, Taylor Swift dropped a surprise announcement on Instagram that a concert film of her record-breaking Eras Tour will be coming exclusively to theaters in October. Swift's grand return to the arena, after releasing four albums during the pandemic with no opportunity to tour, took the form of a roughly three-hour-long nightly retrospective of her nearly 20-year-long career. The Eras Tour has been credited with boosting the federal economy, generating minor seismic activity in the Seattle area, and earning over $1 billion in ticket sales, merchandise, and marketing.

Updated, September 1, 2023 regarding SAG-AFTRA strike rules and adding an additional date change.
When Taylor Swift announced early Thursday morning on Instagram that “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour” will be theatrically presented in nearly all domestic and many international theaters for four weekends beginning October 13, all hell broke loose.
The concert film is certain to be one of the year’s biggest grossing theatrical events. Already it’s selling out many theaters and creating delays at some exhibitor presale websites. The distributor of record is AMC’s own distribution arm and it’s by far the most significant release in its history; previously, it handled the minor releases of small films at its own theaters. AMC also published a press release.
And until that early-morning press release, the studios didn’t have a clue.

Ooh, look what you made her do! After months of justifiable frustration over the scarcity of affordable tickets to Taylor Swift’s now iconic Eras concert tour, the arguably reigning queen of pop is bringing her show to multiplexes around North America… and it’s still proving impossible to get tickets.
In what amounted to a starting bell ringing in Swiftie fans’ ears, tickets went on surprise sale this morning for a previously unannounced concert film of Swift’s Eras tour—and as of press time, the film is playing in North American theater chains AMC, Regal, and Cinemark, beginning on Friday, Oct. 13. But if you wanted to get tickets to that opening weekend, and you’re only learning about this right now, chances are you’ve already missed your chance to see it.
The Taylor Swift film has proved so exciting, in fact, that it’s achieved what no film in 2023 could dream of.

Singer-songwriter Taylor Swift is currently riding on swift winds with her Eras Tour, traversing all of Europe and North America. With the success of her tour, the singer’s Eras Tour is set to be played in the US theatres, with ‘Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour’.
Swift’s Eras Tour has become a cultural phenomenon. With record demand for tickets and smashed world records in attendance and concert tour revenue, Swift offers fans a 44-song set list crossing the many eras and albums of her career, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The surprising thing is, that the film is set to cast in the AMC theatre chain, America’s biggest theatre chain which is currently greatly impacted by the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes apart from early Covid-19 damages, but that has had no impact on the sales for the movie tickets of this concert film.

Did you miss your chance to catch Taylor Swift‘s Eras tour after tickets sold out? AMC and Cinemark theaters have your back. Taylor Swift has already swept the United States off their feet with the Eras Tour, a massive concert that has broken plenty of concert sale records, as well as Ticketmaster's ticketing systems. That means there are millions of people out there who haven't been able to experience the magic of Taylor Swift's concert tour, which has now embarked on its international leg. But as Taylor Swift is globetrotting with her sold-out tour, she'll soon be trying to sell out movie theaters with an official Eras Tour concert movie on the big screen.
AMC Theatres, Cinemark, Regal Cinemas, and other theater chains will be releasing "Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour" into theaters starting on October 13 and running through at least October 16. David Harbour recently scored some major stepdad points.
During an appearance on the “Happy Sad Confused” podcast, the “Stranger Things” actor spoke about managing to get tickets to Taylor Swift’s Minnesota “Eras Tour” gig.
He said he “had to call in a lot of favours” to nab the coveted tickets, according to Billboard.
And Harbour’s surprises for his steppdaughter didn’t end there.

He also tried to get her to meet Swift, but although she wasn’t able to, she did write her a special note.
Harbour — who is stepdad to his wife Lily Allen’s daughters Ethel and Marnie — added, “I did say as we went in, ‘If there is an opportunity to say hello…’ And they said, ‘She’s leaving on a plane right after the concert.’

After announcing last week the long-awaited 1989 (Taylor’s Version), Taylor Swift is offering a limited-edition “Sunrise Boulevard” vinyl of the album.
The yellow-colored vinyl is available on the singer’s website for pre-order for 48 hours.
Swifter recently announced that she is giving the crew of the tour $53 million in bonuses.
Fans were eager to hear about the 1989 (Taylor’s Version) release.
“Since I was a teenager I’ve wanted to own my own music and the way to do that was to re-record my albums,” the singer explained.
“So now, here we are on the last night of the U.S., leg of the Eras Tour, in the eighth month of the year, and the ninth day,” she said during her L.A concert last week.
“There’s something that I’ve been planning for a really, really, really, ridiculously embarrassingly long time. And I think instead of just like telling you about it,...

Canadian Taylor Swift fans are desperate to get their hands on “Eras Tour” tickets for the Toronto dates, but many have been left disappointed.
Fans were hopeful they might be able to nab a presale ticket code by signing up for the Avion Rewards Member Registration.
However, a lot of people took to social media to share their frustration on Tuesday after receiving waitlist emails with the Rbc Avion Rewards sale.
Looks like it’s a no to Taylor Swift for me as I’m on waitlist for the second (and last) possible opportunity through Avion. pic.twitter.com/z2zOCzfNSf

Waitlisted for the Rbc Avion Rewards presale for the Taylor Swift concert as well. This is honestly so ridiculous lmao
Why is it this hard to Maybe have the Potential to Possibly spend hundreds on a ticket to a concert ?!

Ticketmaster has given Canadian Swifties no chance but to take action against the online ticketing company.
After desperately failing the majority of Taylor Swift fans who hoped to score tickets to her six-show “Eras Tour” in Toronto, they’ve launched a petition on change.org, demanding they change their policies.
Last week, thousands of Swifties were left frustrated and disappointed when they were waitlisted for the exclusive presale through Ticketmaster’s verified fan registration process, ultimately leaving them without tickets to her show when they were released on the site.

Now, those fans have limited options to get tickets — either pay ludicrous resale prices, some which have peaked at $20,000 per seat on Stubhub, or wait and see if they’ll land a unique access code through the Rbc Avion Rewards exclusive deal.
