Agent Coulson has faced death multiple times throughout ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ and even in ‘The Avengers,’ he just can’t seem to stay dead. It’s almost like a superpower, as it’s often joked about.
Coulson’s most recent death occurred in ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ season 6 episode 5. In his final weeks, he spent time in Tahiti with Melinda May, reflecting on their lives. They discussed May’s idea of establishing a S.H.I.E.L.D. Academy in his honor. While enjoying wine on the beach, Coulson felt chest pain returning. He informed May, and they fell asleep together. Coulson passed away peacefully in his sleep, marking his last known demise so far.

Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio have been locked in to reprise the roles of hero Matt Murdock / Daredevil and villain Wilson Fisk / Kingpin, characters they originally played on the Marvel-inspired Netflix series Daredevil, on the Disney+ series Daredevil: Born Again ever since Marvel and Disney+ started pushing the show forward. When their supporting cast was being assembled at the end of 2022, it was announced that Sandrine Holt (American Gigolo) had signed on to appear on the show as a love interest to the Fisk – with the word being that she was taking over the role of his wife Vanessa Marianna Fisk, who had previously been played by Ayelet Zurer on the Netflix show. Apparently there had been scheduling issues with Zurer, who said she was “sad to not take part” in the new series… which, at the time, wasn’t meant to line up with the Netflix show perfectly. Just a couple days after saw some great images of Charlie Cox and Jon Bernthal on the set of the Disney+ series Daredevil: Born Again – where they reprise the roles of Marvel heroes Matt Murdock / Daredevil and Frank Castle / The Punisher, characters they originally played on shows that were released through the Netflix streaming service (and can now be found on Disney+) – it has been revealed that Daredevil: Born Again has wrapped production. Central Casting broke the news by sharing a picture of Cox at the wrap party.
The show didn’t have an easy ride through production. Filming started in early 2023, then when the strikes hit, it was decided that it needed to undergo a creative overhaul. This overhaul has ensured that this new series is now directly connected to the Daredevil series that ran for three seasons on Netflix. As of the recent Daredevil-related series Echo, all...

The most unexpected movie news of the day hit the internet today: Drew Goddard is attached to co-write and direct a fifth "The Matrix" film for Warner Bros. Discovery. It's unexpected largely because Lana Wachowski -- one of the key creative voices of this franchise, a director of the original trilogy, and the solo director of 2021's "The Matrix Resurrections" -- is stepping into an executive producer role this time around, since Goddard reportedly came to the studio with an idea for a new entry in this franchise that excited the folks in charge. On the surface, he may seem like a somewhat odd choice to usher "The Matrix" into the future, but several projects in Goddard's filmography lead us to believe he could be a great choice to take the reins.

Attention: The Following Report Is A Rumor. Please Take The Following Story With A Grain Of Salt.
The return of Charlie Cox as Daredevil has been met with much positivity from fans. The Marvel Netflix shows were fairly popular with five standalone shows with a crossover series The Defenders. Initially not fitting into Marvel’s plans the shows are now being integrated into MCU canon.
Following Cox’s return, there has been much speculation as to who may be next in returning to the world of Marvel. One of the most vocal of those is actor Finn Jones who portrayed Danny Rand, aka Iron Fist. He felt that he wasn’t able to give the character justice and wished for the chance to do so.

It is indisputable that the Netflix series Iron Fist, starring Finn Jones on Netflix, struggled to garner favorable reviews. Scott Buck’s series has a 20% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. However, with a 71% favorability rating, it somehow garnered slightly higher respect from the review aggregator’s audience.
Its cancellation in 2018 was a further letdown. Since then, fans of the character have expressed a keen interest in seeing Jones reprise his role as Danny Rand, aka Iron Fist, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Despite years after the show and its lackluster reception, there is a growing call for Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige to give Jones “another chance” to play the iconic martial arts hero on the big screen.

A recent social media post by Iron Fist star Finn Jones fueled speculation the actor could be returning as the Marvel character.
Jones first played martial arts master Danny Rand in Netflix's Iron Fist, which ran for two seasons from 2017 to 2018. He also starred in the crossover series The Defenders and made a cameo appearance in Season 2 of Luke Cage.
Iron Fist received poor reviews upon release, and even Jones admitted it "didn't live up to expectations." However, with the Defenders Saga now officially under the Disney+ umbrella, rumors are rife that the Netflix Marvel stars could make a return in the MCU.

On the heels of What If…? season one’s warm reception, Marvel Studios head of streaming Brad Winderbaum knew that now was the time to pursue his longtime dream of reviving the beloved Fox Kids show X-Men: The Animated Series. The series aired from 1992 to 1997, and Winderbaum, as executive producer, is on the verge of releasing X-Men ’97, which picks up right where the original series left off as the classic X-Men characters are forced to find a way forward without the leadership of Professor Charles Xavier.
Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige required only two conditions before giving his blessing on the latest Disney+ animated series.
“Following the success of What If…?, when we were able to make more animated shows, [X-Men ’97] was my first idea out of the box. And Kevin [Feige] was like, ‘Alright, if we can get the [original] cast and we can get the song, let’s do it.

Actor Charlie Cox is popularly known for portraying Matt Murdock a.k.a., Daredevil in the series Daredevil for Netflix. Inspired by 1970s movies, the series was intended to be darker than other Marvel projects, intentionally avoiding any MCU crossovers. It was the first Marvel Netflix series and was followed by Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist, which eventually led to the mini-series The Defenders.
Upon its release, the series received positive comments from the critics as well as the audience, with Charlie Cox’s character becoming one of the fan favorite MCU characters. In 2022, after Disney regained the license for the Marvel series, Daredevil Netflix was canceled to make way for a Disney+ show. The members of the audience who loved Jessica Jones during its successful run in the past might also remember the character of The Purple Man, a.k.a Kilgrave, played expertly by actor David Tennant. In fact, for many of the fans of the show, this antagonist may have been one of the most memorable parts of the series.
David Tennant as Kilgrave in a still from Jessica Jones
And despite the character being taken out of the equation in the series for good, the actor has time and time again expressed his desire to return to his role in the MCU. Yet again, the start has revealed how he would love to return as Kilgrave in the future, but this time, it seems highly likely that the star might make a return in the upcoming Daredevil: Born Again under the Devil’s Reign storyline that will truly honor his character.

Marvel has officially confirmed the inclusion of the Netflix Marvel series in the Sacred Timeline of the franchise. Until now, the series Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, and Iron Fist were developed separately from the MCU canon and had only passing references to the movies. But with the shows being placed in the official timeline order on Disney Plus, they have been officially confirmed to be part of the MCU canon.
However, the fact that the Netflix Marvel shows were separate from the films had given the studio the freedom to allow some actors to crossover from the show to the films. But, with the shows being canonized, the portrayal of certain characters may be confusing. One of the biggest examples of this flaw is the casting of Mahershala Ali, who portrayed Cottonmouth in Luke Cage and will be seen as Blade in the MCU.

Following Charlie Cox’s appearance as Matt Murdock aka Daredevil in his standalone Marvel series Daredevil, the actor soon turned the blind superhero into a fan-favorite character. However, following three seasons of the show, and Cox reprising his role for The Defenders, Netflix unfortunately canceled Daredevil and its other Marvel series in 2019.
Charlie Cox as Daredevil
However, as Kevin Feige had promised that Charlie Cox’s Daredevil would join the MCU, the actor made a beloved cameo in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Following his much-appreciated cameo, as fans began asking for more Daredevil, Marvel announced their plans for an 18-episode Disney+ series Daredevil: Born Again. Now, with the ongoing production of the upcoming show, Cox claimed to have one demand that will make comic book fans go gaga over it.

Sony and Marvel Studios have been collaborating on the recent Spider-Man films that are connected to the wider Marvel Cinematic Universe – but on the side, Sony also has their “Spider-Man Universe” films, which are not connected to the MCU Spider-Man movies but are based on characters who were introduced in issues of Marvel’s Spider-Man comic books. Sony makes these movies without the input of Marvel Studios, and the latest entry in this franchise – following Venom, Venom: Let There Be Carnage, and Morbius – is Madame Web, which just reached theatres a couple days ago. JoBlo’s own Chris Bumbray has given the film a 5/10 review that you can read at This Link – but now we want to know, what did you think of Madame Web? Let us know by leaving a comment below.

Dakota Johnson is a fascinatingly eccentric celebrity (and I very much mean that as a compliment), so it should come as no surprise that she's also been the most entertaining part of the marketing for "Madame Web." To some extent, the latest entry in Sony's Spider-Man Universe -- a movie that /Film's Witney Seibold describes in his review as a "clunky, earnest, and weirdly charming" oddity -- seems almost tailor-made for her. The "Fifty Shades of Grey" actor has a peculiar appeal as a public figure, from her handling of "lime-gate" to the wry, understated shade she threw at the meme birthed by the "Madame Web" trailer line, "He was in the Amazon with my mom when she was researching spiders right before she died." The line itself isn't even in the film, which only makes both the meme and Johnson's reaction to it all the more curiously amusing.

Madame Web filmmaker Sj Clarkson is both persistent and prolific. The British director has helmed at least 109 episodes of television from 2001 until now. She cut her teeth to the tune of 37 episodes on a British medical soap known as Doctors, but that experience eventually paved the way for the likes of Dexter, Orange Is the New Black and Succession. (Her first episode of Dexter ended with John Lithgow’s iconic line of, “Hello, Dexter Morgan.”)
In recent years, Clarkson’s efforts to mount projects on a massive scale have tested her patience, as her Naomi Watts-led Game of Thrones prequel pilot, Bloodmoon, didn’t go, nor did her version of Star Trek 4 in 2018. Nevertheless, Clarkson’s feature directorial debut, Madame Web, is now arriving in theaters on Feb. 14, and she never imagined that her first film would take place in a universe that’s related to Spider-Man.

Cassandra Webb (Dakota Johnson) in Columbia Pictures’ ‘Madame Web’
The Marvel Cinematic Universe is in a weird place right now. Since the end of Phase 3 and “The Infinity Saga,” the movies seem to be just throwing stuff against a wall to see what sticks. Unfortunately, Madame Web doesn’t quite stick.
Madame Web is about a New York City paramedic named Cassandra Webb (Dakota Johnson) who, after a near-death experience, discovers that she has clairvoyant powers. Meanwhile, a dark figure named Ezekiel Sims (Tahar Rahim), who also has clairvoyancy (as well as other spider-like powers), has dreams of three young women named Julia (Sydney Sweeney), Mattie (Celeste O’Connor), and Anya (Isabela Merced) who will develop similar powers to his and eventually kill him. Cassandra’s abilities allow her to detect Ezekiel’s plan and she vows to stop him. But to save their future, she must confront her own past.

You know a superhero movie is in trouble when even the “first reactions” from fan sites are scathing.
Now the critic reviews for Marvel and Sony’s Madame Web have been revealed (read on below), and the writeups are pretty devastating for the Spider-Man spinoff.
Madame Web is from director S.J. Clarkson (The Defenders) and stars Dakota Johnson (Fifty Shades of Grey) as a New York paramedic who develops psychic abilities, with a script by Clarkson, Matt Sazama, Burk Sharpless and Claire Parker.
Johnson escapes most of the criticism, but everything else is getting skewered as the latest example of superhero movie fatigue meeting a genuinely disappointing film. Madame Web (which falls under the Sony umbrella) arrives just two months after The Marvels became the lowest-grossing Marvel Cinematic Universe title of all time, earning just $206 million. If the below reviews for Madame Web are any indication, it may open even...

2024 is going to be light on superhero movies (relatively speaking) but comic book cinema will be present on the big screen on Valentine's Day. Sony's latest "Spider-Man" spin-off movie "Madame Web" is hitting theaters, introducing several brand new spider-heroes into the ever-growing Marvel multiverse.
Following in the footsteps of movies like "Venom" and "Morbius," as well as this year's "Kraven the Hunter," Sony is once again making the most of the Marvel Comics characters it has the rights to in the larger "Spider-Man" franchise. Specifically, it sees Dakota Johnson bring Cassandra Web, aka Madame Webb, to life alongside an impressive supporting cast.
But is this a one-and-done? Or is the studio setting up more for the future? We're going to discuss the movie's post-credits scene situation in spoiler-free fashion. Seriously, we're not going to spoil anything. We're just here to arm you with information so you can be ready on opening weekend.

Despite acknowledging the evident issues in project quality, and Bob Iger’s recent emphasis on prioritizing “quality over quantity,” Marvel Studios and the MCU are vigorously pushing forward with the development of numerous upcoming projects slated for release in the coming years.
While only one film, “Deadpool 3,” is set for release in 2024, widely regarded as the “MCU Savior,” questions linger as to whether this reflects a genuine commitment to quality or if other projects are simply facing delays due to extensive rewrites, reshoots, and challenges arising from the SAG-AFTRA strike. Among the projects anticipated for 2024 is “X-Men ’97,” an animated series serving as a revival of the beloved ‘X-Men: The Animated Series,’ promising a direct continuation of its nostalgic predecessor.
Furthermore, the recent debut of “Echo” seemingly solidified Netflix’s “The Defenders Saga” as part of the official MCU canon, positioning it on the established MCU timeline.

Despite having obvious problems with the quality of the projects, and the fact that Bob Iger came out with a statement a few months ago about how they should focus on “quality over quantity,” Marvel Studios and the MCU are going full steam ahead developing numerous projects to be released in the next few years.
Yes, only one movie will be released in 2024 and it’s Deadpool 3′ which is widely known as “MCU Savior” but it’s still questionable whether that is truly due to the studio focusing on quality or whether the other projects simply aren’t ready due to various rewrites, extensive reshoots and other problems caused by SAG-AFTRA strike. This post contains spoilers to Daredevil: Born Again.
Daredevil: Born Again? More like Daredevil on Netflix: Born Again!
When Disney announced the MCU TV series Daredevil: Born Again, the studio played coy about the show’s relationship to the Netflix series that preceded it. Yes, Charlie Cox would once again play blind lawyer turned protector of Hell’s Kitchen Matt Murdock, and Vincent D’Onofrio would return as his enemy Wilson Fisk, the Kingpin of Crime.
At first, the distinction made sense. While Daredevil remained strong, especially through its third season, shows such as Iron Fist and The Defenders suffered from stories stretched thin and lackluster performances. Furthermore, the show’s rough violence and sexuality made them a poor fit with the MCU’s soft PG-13 aesthetic.
However, with each month, it seems more and more like Daredevil: Born Again will be a direct continuation of the Netflix shows. Not...

In case it wasn't already clear by now, Marvel Studios is doubling down on its connections to the Marvel Netflix universe of streaming shows. Next up on the reunion tour for "Daredevil: Born Again"? The Devil of Hell's Kitchen imposter known as Bullseye, portrayed by Wilson Bethel in season 3 of "Daredevil." The news comes from ComicBook.com, which reports only that he'll make some sort of appearance in the retooled series -- but "it's unclear how extensive his role will be."
Fans will remember that the rather tortured character of Benjamin Poindexter played an integral role in the war against Matt Murdock and Wilson "Kingpin" Fisk in the Netflix series. Season 3 ultimately ended with Bullseye on the wrong end of a fight between the two foes, shattering his spine and left paralyzed. It's unclear exactly how or even if Marvel will incorporate all these prior events into their new series, but...

We’re only getting one new Marvel Cinematic Universe movie in all of 2024, Deadpool 3, which is set to reach theatres on July 26th. But that’s not the only Marvel Comics-inspired movie we’re getting. This is the year of Sony’s Spider-Man Universe, with three Spider-Man-adjacent movies scheduled to be released over the next eleven months. First up is Madame Web, which has a February 14th release date. With that date swiftly approaching, a promotional featurette has arrived online, along with a new batch of character posters. You can watch the featurette in the embed above and take a look at the character posters at the bottom of this article.

With the release of Marvel’s Spotlight project ‘Echo’ several Marvel-based shows have “officially” become canon to the MCU continuity and were added to the MCU timeline. Of course, we are referring to The Defenders Saga. The Defenders Saga, also known as Street-Level Heroes and Marvel Knights, is a collection of Marvel Television series initially distributed on Netflix. Centered on the New York City vigilantes within the MCU, the saga commenced with the first season of ‘Daredevil’ and concluded with the third season of ‘Jessica Jones.’
Now, the fact that some details from ‘Daredevil’ appeared in ‘Echo’ was proof enough that Marvel Studios is ready to acknowledge these projects as canon to the MCU, despite ignoring the events that took place in pretty much all mainline movies and series released since.

Even though Charlie Cox, who played the Marvel Comics character Matt Murdock / Daredevil on the Daredevil series that was made for the Netflix streaming service (and is now available on Disney+) has since reprised the role in Spider-Man: No Way Home and She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, and Vincent D’Onofrio also reprised the role of the villainous Wilson Fisk / Kingpin in the Hawkeye series, it hasn’t been clear whether or not that Daredevil show would really be considered part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe continuity. When the eighteen episode MCU / Disney+ series Daredevil: Born Again went into production with Cox and D’Onofrio in the lead roles, it was apparently branching off in directions that wouldn’t exactly match what had been seen in the Netflix show. But then the writers strike hit, causing Daredevil: Born Again to stop filming for a while… and during the break, Marvel executives watched the...

“Succession” went out on top for its fourth and final season, ending up with six Emmys Monday night including the top prize. The HBO series took home the prize for outstanding drama series for the second consecutive year and third consecutive season. It joins other three-peaters like “The Defenders,” “Dragnet,” “Playhouse 90” and “Upstairs, Downstairs.”
While accepting the prize, series creator Jesse Armstrong said, “We want to thank HBO. This wasn’t necessarily an easy show to commission right at the very beginning.”
He went on to say hello to “Jeremy Strong, who’s making a movie and Lucy, who’s made a baby. We send our love to both of them.”
Armstrong then grimly joked, “This is a show about family, but it’s also about when partisan politics and news coverage gets intertwined with divisive right-wing politics. After four seasons of satire, that’s a problem I understand we have now fixed.

Everyone has their private list of actors who they think should be in more movies. Jessica Henwick is on my list.
The only feeling I can remember from watching "The Defenders" is being charmed by her performance as Colleen Wing. So much so that I was half-tempted to go back and watch "Iron Fist" (emphasis on half). Thankfully, I've had more options since then.
Henwick's plucky charisma carries her through both comedy and action hero roles, and it pains me when she's stuck in uninspired movies like "Underwater" or "The Gray Man." That said, she is a scene-stealer in "The Matrix Resurrections" as Bugs (as in Bunny), the blue-haired hacker who reawakens Neo (Keanu Reeves).
She's even got some directing chops; in 2022, she made and starred in her own short film, "Bus Girl," about June, an aspiring chef working in a restaurant. Shot on a Xiaomi 11 phone, Henwick uses sweeping...

Disney+’s upcoming Daredevil: Born Again may be getting even more familiar faces, as it has been reported that both Elden Henson and Deborah Ann Woll will reprise their respective characters from the original Daredevil series, Foggy Nelson and Karen Page.
Elden Henson and Deborah Ann Woll were key supporters throughout Daredevil’s three seasons when it aired on Netflix. That they’re expected to return – alongside Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock aka Daredevil – is most certainly reason for fans to be even more excited for Born Again. While it wasn’t anticipated that Henson and Woll would reprise their roles, they have stayed loyal to the characters: both turned up alongside Cox in The Defenders, while Henson would pop up as Foggy on Jessica Jones and Luke Cage and Woll had a short run on The Punisher TV series.

Glynis Johns, remembered by movie audiences as Mrs. Banks from Mary Poppins and by Broadway devotees as the first person to sing Stephen Sondheim’s “Send in the Clowns” on a national stage, died Thursday of natural causes at an assisted living home in Los Angeles. She was 100.
Her death was announced by her manager and publicist Mitch Clem. “Today’s a sad day for Hollywood,” Clem said in a statement. “She is the last of the last of old Hollywood.”
A Tony winner (Best Actress/Musical) for her performance as Desiree Armfeldt in the original 1973 Broadway cast of the Sondheim-Hugh Wheeler A Little Night Music, Johns both debuted and, due to her widespread acclaim, helped popularize what would become perhaps Sondheim’s most beloved and well-known songs with “Send in the Clowns.”
