It is one of films reminding ignored dramas. a warning. about a painful event, about limits of a relation, about the truth changing everything. "Lost Years" has all the virtues to be the perfect warning. or portrait of a reality easy to ignore or reduce at status of newspaper title. the performances are more than decent and Samuel Garcia gives a delicate = precise, touching portrait of Felix. a story. like too many others. and the inspired final.

An odd, ill-conceived mess

Warning: Spoilers
Ever know that one person who wants to make a statement, but just doesn't have anything profound to say? If not, after watching this film you'll understand. "Lost Years" meanders between a being a "kid away from home" and gay 'coming out"/relationship film, then stops on a dime and becomes a public service announcement against male rape...in England...even though this is set in a Spanish boarding school...in Valencia...where everyone speaks with an English accent...and all the high school kids are in their late 20's. Even the synopsis hints this is supposed to be about dealing with a traumatic event...but given this is a short film only 20 mins long, this event needed to happen a LOT sooner so we could see the consequences/baggage/journey the main character goes through. The "jump" at the end was just as meaningless as the overall premise; it says nothing; and neither does this film. Just bad.
