Sweet madness Warning: Spoilers
An inquisitive kid randomly infiltrates a bratty boy's backyard birthday party, puts on a hat and joins in a game of whack the piñata...and then goes more than a little crazy after the metal bat breaks clean through the paper animal and accidentally connects with the spoiled boy's face and the blood flies along with the brightly coloured confectionery treats, and the mysterious strange kid can no longer appear tell or perhaps simply doesn't care about the stark differences between the gore and the candy and he begins to bash heads all over the party like so many piñatas as the happy cries of joy turn to screams... I thought the concept of this neat little horror short was pretty cool and different. At first the party atmosphere feels a little off and tense until the dad is surprised and brutally cracked across the head which is a shock, but also a tad different to what yore expecting, as instead of blood you get pink sweet goo flying out of the man's busted mouth, which is silly but to me no less disturbing. And I loved that, the way it plays around with the viewer's perception of the violence, having you not quite sure how to react, whether you should laugh or be shocked, because it subverts your basic reaction by the nature of what the actual gore is. They never really tell the audience if it's how the psychotic 'child' sees himself and what he's doing to people, like to him it's all a game and a fantasy, or if the pink goo is for the viewer's benefit. I won't spoil it, but I suppose the final image does explain a lot as the twisted and creepy truth is revealed from the police officer's point of view. Very good horror comedy short, for its brief run time it's entertaining, humorous and scary at the same time. Check it out, it goes down a treat! X

At the first sigh, an eccentric short film. At the second- cold portrait of human nature. It could be a parable or only the sketch of a sort of adultescence. A birthday. A boy. A carnage. The police in a yard , in night. A man and his unusual dinner. At the end, the feeling to discover just a warning.

So I saw this in 2019 and I think this was very well made. Cute and scary at the same time and the actors did good. Wish there was a movie like this. But ya it was very good and especially the children being evil In movies lol.
