Easy to enjoy

The negative/low reviews are mainly in part to the inaccuracies of what happens when there is a medical emergency in flight. For me however, I don't worry about the accuracy of an airline protocol in a fictional show. I do believe most viewers of Grey's know a lot of the stories and stations presented are fictional.

Overall, it was decent. Always hardtop watch Meredith on a plane and notve concerned, but I found it a bit odd that Riggs was on the same flight.

Overall the story fits alongside medical issues and this is the premise of the series so not a complete fail at all. You watch it and decide.

Tv Show

You people complaining about a fiction show showing fictional and unrealistic things? Oh come on! Apparently you don't know that everyone watching a TV show already knows that it's a TV show with fiction, the episode was great, although I don't like riggs.

One Note for the Fact Checkers 😂

Warning: Spoilers
At the end when the plane finally makes an emergency landing, they land in Sioux Falls, SD where I currently live. The detailing on the side of the airfield equipment says "Joe Boss Airfield"...they were close it's actually Joe Foss Airfield 😂

Best episode of the season

Very, very well done episode. The chemistry between Riggs and Meredith is undeniable, but it's the medical work done by the two of them that really puts this episode over the top. It's what these doctors do best, they get people to trust them, and that's always nice to see. This episode was well paced, interesting, and worth watching, where some past episodes this season have been a tad dry. My vote is 10!

Great episode

Martin Henderson has been a really good addition to the show. I watched him in Shortland Street years ago. I love his comical face. Great fun episode, don't take it too seriously. Although I think he's better with Pierce.

Stormy Airplane Flight

This Episode begins with Meredith, she is on a plane. Meredith ended up alongside Nathan on the plane. Meredith kissed with Nathan on the airplane toilet, they have sex afterwards. The airplane got into a heavy storm. Meredith has flashbacks of the plane crash that she was in. Nathan set Candace her arm back. Meredith tells Nathan that her sister Lexie died during the plane crash. Max is puking, he is having a seizure. Meredith helps Max, she is getting the blood out of his brain. The plane has landed. Meredith chose to let Derek go, she is chosing Nathan now. Amazing Episode of Grey's Anatomy Season 13, really great Episode with a lot of action. Meredith and Nathan are finally a thing!

Lots of Martin at last!

But! While the other commenters dismissed the aviation issues -- number of flight attendants, FAs not in charge, but the doctors are, unrealistic medical-saving situations (passenger helping w/ doctoring), e.g. What stood out for me -- in error -- was the fact that Nathan, who had doctored in war zones, was negative about using "seat of the pants" procedures to 'get things done' medically. HE should have been the one to come up w/ how to drain the head, not Mer! Also, annoying now how hard Nate has to work to reel her in toward him. She won't let 'him' go, well, Nate should let her go!!!!! Thanks.

Ridiculous - not because of the inaccuracy
bonheura25 February 2023
I dropped it a few years ago but I decided to binge-watch the whole GA seasons and came to this episode which at the time was the fatal jump-the-shark one for me, the last of many.

It's the "oh no once again Mer is in a flight and things go wrong!" that gets me, along with the "oh my god the doctors have to perform an extraordinary procedure in very tight and uncomfortable conditions!" along with "oh you love me but I can't love you why do you love me when I do love you but hey we just went through a horrible situation so let's get together shall we?" along with the fake suspense and yada yada.

Yes, poor Meredith is definitely the unluckiest girl in the world, whenever she goes somewhere , just like in those old detective shows like Columbo or Poirot) there has to be some catastrophe happening (and when everything goes well there's a new family popping). It's getting tiresome.

5 seasons to go, I hope it will get better but I'm afraid it's not.

Warning: Spoilers
As a flight attendant, I find this whole episode ridiculous. The doors are not armed, there's only 2 FA's for 200 people when FAA regulations call for 1 flight attendant per 50 seats, the airplane interior doesn't match the exterior, a pilot would never exit the flight deck to talk to a passenger during a medical emergency (or any emergency really), there is no way a captain would wait two hours to land a plane, Meredith would not be allowed to have her bag at her feet at a bulkhead seat, FA's have to stand in the aisles during safety demos, flight attendants would be the first to respond to injuries and retrieve medical equipment, medical equipment isn't locked in a safe in the galley (its in an overhead bin locked with a key), the galley is twice as wide as any airplane galley, flight attendants would not be walking around during severe turbulence, if its a full flight where are the passnegers who moved sitting for landing, during a medical emergency FAs write down passenger info on a form for the pilots who contact STAT MD (or similar), flight attendants have to wait for all pssnegers to deplane before they can get off, etc.

Completely unrealistic pilot reaction
warthogcc7 November 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Whoever wrote this episode didn't do their research or use common sense.

After the aircraft passes through the storm and is safe again, Dr. Grey confronts the flight attendant, and then the captain, about a medical emergency. The captain states "I don't have clearance to land. You think I haven't tried?"..."and endanger the lives of 257 people so you can save one? Absolutely not!"

it is quite unrealistic for the pilot to argue and be dismissive with the doctor, saying that she cannot and will not land the aircraft, or even prepare to do so. And this is why....

Almost anyone who has done any kind of flying, either as a pilot, or even just as a passenger, knows that a medical emergency declared on board, gives that aircraft immediate clearance over almost anything.

The FAA mandates this very seriously. The pilots, the tower controllers, and air traffic control all know this. All the pilot has to do is declare it over the radio. Air traffic control will then attempt to reroute other aircraft, give them top priority and guide them to the nearest appropriate airport.

If this argument happened in the real world, the FAA would most likely ban that pilot from flying any commercial aircraft ever again. Let alone the pilot getting blacklisted from the airline she works for. After that, they may even be imprisoned as well, as it is a federal crime to not take an airborne medical emergency seriously, as did the pilot in this episode.

This was just so unrealistic it was very hard to watch.

All wrong with this episode.

Warning: Spoilers
As a cabin crew I felt offended with this episode. In no company I've worked before you would let doctors be in charge of a situation onboard. In a medical situation cabin crew are the ones who are in charge ( we have training of first aid and the plane is our office) and in case they need assistance, they are the ones asking for medical personnel onboard. In this episode you never see the crew doing anything. Apparently they went to hide. Then the fact that there wasn't no research done is obvious. Meredith moves her seat to a bulkhead seat and keeps her belongings on her feet ( not allowed). The captain leaves the cockpit to speak with a passenger ( say what?!). The galleys are enormous (believe me, in real life they aren't!). Passengers in business are asked to move to economy when we know it's a full flight ( where they go we'll never know). And so on... just a very poor episode

This is the kind of episode that makes us drop a series
Everything is wrong, from the trepanation with an ordinary needle - then with a cocktail straw - to the air travel. My wife, a doctor, was outraged. Myself, an airplane enthusiast, was flabbergasted. I don't know who directed it, but will find out now and avoid him/her in the future.
