The summer of Barbie just got its soundtrack. When the highly anticipated "Barbie" movie hits theaters on July 21, fans will also be able to blast "Barbie: The Album." On May 25, Atlantic Records announced news of the album, which will be released the same day as the film, also sharing some of the all-star artists who are featured, including Nicki Minaj, Ice Spice, Haim, Lizzo, K-pop group Fifty Fifty, and - perhaps most interestingly - Ryan Gosling, who plays Ken in the movie. These artists join pop star Dua Lipa (who plays a mermaid Barbie in the movie). Her "Barbie" song, "Dance the Night," dropped on May 26 with a vibrant, disco-themed music video.
Fans can preorder the "Barbie" album on its website right now, along with multiple special-edition vinyls and cassette tapes. Most of the album covers feature Margot Robbie as Barbie, lounging in her iconic bathing suit and sunglasses. The...

Kacey Musgraves is one of country music’s rising superstars. Her quirky style and haunting voice have ensured her the designation of a pop-culture icon, while her tendency to write hit songs has kept her name in the headlines, year after year. While Musgraves understands that she’s a topic of extreme interest amongst fans, she prefers to keep her personal life to herself, only rarely opening up about her romances. However, Musgraves has no problem raving about how much she loves her boyfriend and has dished several times about the unique way they met, and why she appreciates the fact that he doesn’t follow popular music.

A family ensures safety. It provides a sense of security besides emotional bonding. And no matter which part of the globe we live in, the belief is shared about this social construct. Ideally, you give some part of yourself to make sense of it or to find the share of each member, equal or justified. Kibbutz from Israel is formed on similar notions. It is a collective community formed on an idea of joint ownership of property, equality, and cooperation of production. Yona Rozenkier’s ‘Parparim’ (translated as Butterflies) tells the narrative of a family from one of such kibbutz.
On one of the days, the family of three chooses to go on a road-trip around the countryside. Their life appears mundane to a foreign viewer, at least on the surface. It appears like just another day where this elderly couple has just another routine conversation. This couple, which is...

On “The Voice” season 18 finale on Tuesday, Todd Tilghman pulled off a win over Thunderstorm Artis, who had been the frontrunner all season long. In our overnight poll, 31% of those weighing in wanted Thunderstorm to win and think that he was robbed of the season 18 title. Todd did not merit a majority of votes from “The Voice” fans and has only 39% of the total tally as of this writing.
Toneisha Harris, who made “The Voice” history as the first Instant Save artist in the final not to be eliminated at the outset, is at 21%. The other two contenders in the Top 5 registered in the single digits: CammWess (5%) and Micah Iverson (4%).
What do you think? Did Todd Tilghman deserve to win “The Voice”? Or do you think Thunderstorm Artis was robbed of the season 18 championship? Even though he lost on May 19, this singer from Hawaii could end up the big winner.

On “The Voice” finale on Monday, the Top 5 artists performed two solos apiece as well as a duet with their coach. The goal for each contestant was to get the most votes by Tuesday at 7 a.m Et/4 a.m. Pt. Because of the changes to production due to the Covid-19 pandemic, producers dropped the five-times vote multiplier generated by the Apple Music bonus. But those sales remain an excellent way of predicting the winner of “The Voice” season 18.
We can report the following results: Todd Tilghman from Team Blake Shelton hit #1 with his winner’s single, “Long Way Home.” And his duet with Blake on “Authority Song” is at #42. (The cover versions were not released on Apple Music), Tilghman was the only one of the five artists still in contention to get both of his tracks on the iTunes Top 100 chart. Such sales success reinforces his frontrunner status to win season 18 of “The Voice.

The Voice on Monday began the ending of a season of firsts: its first with a Final Five instead of a Final Four; its first with pandemic-necessitated remote performances; its first with a swivel chair for Nick Jonas (and his oh-so-helpful Nick’s Notes); its first, at least that I can remember, with Kelly Clarkson Wine Goblets; its first with the coaches making one boneheaded move (John Legend dropping Thunderstorm Artis from his team) after another (Cedrice and not Tayler Green being stolen during the Knockouts)…

“The Voice” finale will showcase the Top 5 singing live for America’s votes on Monday, May 18. Each of the five finalists — Thunderstorm Artis, CammWess, Toneisha Harris, Micah Iverson and Todd Tilghman — will get three chances to sing on the two-hour show. The Rhino has rallied since he was almost eliminated on the April 1 episode of “The Masked Singer.” He is among the five contenders competing on the May 6 quarterfinal. The Rhino is coming off of his best week ever, with his cover of “Die a Happy Man” by Thomas Rhett earning him praise from the four judges.
The previous week he had done well with his version of “10,000 Hours” by Dan + Shay & Justin Bieber. Just prior to that had been when he faltered with his cover of “What a Man Gotta Do” by Jonas Brothers. His earlier performances of “Tracks of My Tears” by Smokey Robinson and the Miracles, “Nice to Meet Ya” by Niall Horan and “Have a Little Faith in Me” by John Hiatt were all much better suited to his voice.
We’ve been doing some digging to try and figure out who is hiding inside the Rhino costume.

Fans of The Rhino on “The Masked Singer” are thrilled that he has made it to the final six contenders who are competing on the April 29 episode. As Gold Derby predicted, Tuesday night’s episode of “The Voice” turned out to be the end of the road for Cali Wilson of Team Blake Shelton. When Kacey Musgraves gives you instructions, follow them. During her Coachella set on Friday, the 30-year-old country singer hit the stage to give the crowd a yee-hawing good time but hit a tiny (and hilarious) hiccup in the process. While jamming out to the music, Musgraves got the crowd hyped by starting a chant. "When I say 'yee,' you say 'haw!'" she told the audience. It was going pretty smoothly until the festivalgoers got a little zealous and yelled their part out too early. "I didn't say f*cking 'yee!'" Musgraves responded.

It's true that there are three days left in March but we're recapping early because we're willing the month to end. The point is that March is always a bit slow at Tfe given the post Oscar-crashing and then the malaise that hits. But we do what we can. Expect much more in April now that we're getting back on the dance floor. Here are a dozen highlights from the month that is almost up that we hope you didn't miss.

Over the past few years, fans have fallen in love with Kacey Musgraves's no-nonsense attitude and witty lyrics, but she showed a softer side with her third studio album, Golden Hour. As she sings about falling in love and finding the right person, it's pretty obvious the inspiration behind her songs is her real-life love story with fellow country singer Ruston Kelly. In fact, she wrote her hit single "Butterflies" after meeting him. "[I'm] in a really happy stage of my life, a really beautiful chapter," she told The Fader. "And I obviously was very inspired to write about that."
The two first started dating in early 2016, and they got engaged on Christmas Eve later that year when Ruston proposed in Kacey's childhood home. In October 2017, the pair made things official when they tied the knot during a gorgeous woodsy wedding in Tennessee. While they've only made a handful of public appearances together,...

There’s a certain poetic justice about Kacey Musgraves winning Album of the Year at Sunday’s Grammy awards — seven years ago this month, the then unknown artist from Texas made her debut at Country Radio Seminar (Crs) as part of Universal Music Group’s annual luncheon at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium. The goal, as with every Crs, was to introduce a new artist to country radio’s gatekeepers.
With her grandparents sitting in the pews, Musgraves made quite the impression, stunning the audience with her song “Merry Go ‘Round.

Kacey Musgraves had a pretty monumental night at the Grammys on Sunday. The talented "Rainbow" singer managed to take home all four awards she was nominated for, including album of the year. Not only was it a huge accomplishment for the 30-year-old, but it also marked the first album of the year win by a country artist since Taylor Swift. In 2010, the country-turned-pop singer took home her very first album of the year win for Fearless.
Interestingly enough, Musgraves won the exact same Grammys as Swift did. During the 2010 ceremony, Swift took home album of the year, best country album for Fearless, as well as best country song and best female country vocal performance for "White Horse." This year, Musgraves won album of the year, best country album for Golden Hour, best country song for "Space Cowboy," and best country solo performance for "Butterflies." Country star Musgraves’s four awards included Best Country Solo Performance for “Butterflies,” Best Country Song for “Space Cowboy,” Best Country Album for “Golden Hour” and Album of the Year for “Golden Hour.”

Ever since the Grammy solo vocal contests merged into co-ed categories in 2012, Chris Stapleton and Carrie Underwood have been king and queen of the country ball. Both have won Best Country Solo Performance twice — Underwood in 2013 and 2015, Stapleton in 2016 and 2018 — but only one of them is nominated in 2019.
Stapleton is primed to pull out in front and make it 3 for 3 with his third nod, for his Top 15 single “Millionaire.” A veteran songwriter, he’s already collected five Grammys, just three albums into his recording career. It’s easy to see why voters are so taken by him: In a sea of interchangeable country hunks, Stapleton has a distinctive vocal and physical presence.
“Millionaire” is three and a half minutes of gospel-infused middle-of-the-dirt-road country, but vocally, it’s not a particularly demanding ride. Compared to the undeniable acrobatics of “Either Way,” the Stapleton song that took this prize last year, the...

Guido Rud’s Buenos Aires-based FilmSharks Intl., one of the most influential sales agents for Spanish-language cinema worldwide, has released the international trailer for Spaniard producer-director José Luis Cuerda’s upcoming sci-fi dystopian comedy “Some Time Later.” (“Tiempo Después”)

Marsha Ambrosius, an R&B singer’s R&B singer, is responsible for co-writing one of pop’s most intoxicating odes to infatuation. That would be Michael Jackson’s “Butterflies,” perhaps the star’s finest post-Bad single, where his inimitable vocal quavers slam home all the tingly, head-over-heels couplets.
So it’s no surprise that Ambrosius excels in this mode on her new album Nyla, her third as a soloist and fifth if you’re counting her work in the neo-soul duo Floetry. She fills the album’s first half with odes to attraction.

Madrid — Over Oct. 4-7, the city of Segovia will host 3D Wire, Spain’s premier platforms for upcoming animation, video games, 3D and Ar content produced on the Iberian Peninsula, across Latin America and beyond.
This year’s market will see more than 1,000 industry professionals visit the historical Roman city best known for its extremely well preserved aqueducts. Segovia seems an ideal place to host an animation festival; the Alcazar de Segovia Castle is said to have inspired Walt Disney and the logo that accompanies so many of the artform’s most iconic productions.
Attendees will be invited to participate in presentations, screenings, round tables and conferences; a number of prizes will be awarded to upcoming projects; there will be a competition for animated short films. In a development as unfortunate as it is unsurprising, Kacey Musgraves is the only female artist up for Album of the Year at the 52nd annual Cma Awards, which announced its nominees on Tuesday. Musgraves — whose acclaimed third full-length Golden Hour is in the running with releases from Chris Stapleton, Keith Urban, Thomas Rhett and Dierks Bentley — is also, by little coincidence, the only artist in that group that fans can still catch in the intimacy of a 686-capacity theater in Northern Alabama.

You (the collective you) are the final panelist for each smackdown so your votes count toward the outcome. To vote e-mail us with 1972 in the subject line and a 1-5 heart rating for whichever performances you have seen.
