Terrified

Donald Glover managed to create a terrifying yet hilarious episode that proves that he should make a horror movie. What an amazing episode. Also, what a powerful performance by Lakeith Stanfield. Atlanta just keeps getting better and better, and stranger and stranger.

I've been wondering if the episode is about Michael Jackson.... his appearance, voice.... the sad tone....an abused childhood...

Donald Glover for the Emmy again
jfkohle-228106 April 2018
Warning: Spoilers
I don't agree with the first reviewer who said they didn't like this episode because the knew Donald Glover was Teddy Perkins the whole time. I'm a big fan of his, and didn't even realize. Thought his physicality and voice changes made him disappear into. One of the best episodes of TV I've see in a long time.

Get Out Meets Michael Jackson

Warning: Spoilers
Like no other episode of Atlanta thus far, Teddy Perkins is like a short standalone horror film. Donald Glover as Teddy is a masterful performance that further upped my praise for him as an artist. The fact that Teddy and Benny are separate people and BOTH die blew my mind. So did Darius making it out alive.

Totally unexpected episode
jpozenel7 April 2018
The Teddy Perkins episode is a huge departure from all other episode. If this was an episode of The Twilight Zone, it would be one of the most memorable. Donald Glover has some strange things going on his mind. I'm glad that he has this show to let them out for us to see.

Unbelievable

I Really did not expect for an episode like this one, they put diverses generes and mix together perfectly like i never seen before at same time. I thought this episode a little funny at the start but i was in panicking at the same time, and i have this confirmation on a exactly point, when someone finally gets upset, changing your tone of voice, and i just jumped off the chair scared. At the end the drama works so well, that make me wonder why I laughed at start. Soundtrack vibe, the history and the chracters, everything in 35 minutes, for REAL this is absolutely well done.

This series is crazy we know, but this episode is another level. The best episode so far.

That was an awesome one. It's hard to guess what you'll get with each episode of this show, but I love how it feels when I'm watching. Teddy was a standout with its weirdness which I really dug. Thank you for an amazing show. It's not like anything else out there and I can relate to it in a way which doesn't happen with tv like it can with a movie..if that makes sense.

Extremely Unsettling

I rarely leave reviews but this was one of the most incredible pieces of television I have ever seen. The episodes starts out a bit strange, but quickly becomes absolutely terrifying. I was sweating for nearly the entire runtime. Teddy's voice and appearance is the stuff of nightmares.

Teddy Perkins
Prismark1029 November 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Teddy Perkins is a creepy episode that really is an allegory of aspects of Michael Jackson's life.

Darius has hired a truck and gone to a mansion to pick up a piano. He really wants the piano. The man who greets him is dressed like Hugh Hefner, looks white but is a heavily skin bleached black man who loves Stevie Wonder.

Darius is alarmed as he tells Paper Boi on the phone. Teddy tells Darius the story of his talented musician brother Benny, who played with the greats. Their father who was abusive towards them in order to turn them into great musicians.

Paper Boi tells Darius to get out of the mansion but is Darius in danger in this eccentric household?

This is a slow uneasy episode. Donald Glover in heavy makeup plays Teddy that leads to a tense finale.

Donald Glover he is, Garry Oldman he ain't
quicksmartmcoy6 April 2018
Warning: Spoilers
When we first see Teddy Perkins, it's obvious who is playing him. Glover has quite pronounced body language and vocal intonation and they are not disguised well in his portrayal of Perkins.

The episode feels slow on account of how unbelievable the character of Perkins is due to Glover's acting, this is not to say the Glover is a bad actor, far from it, but he is not what you would call a chameleon actor. So far I have loved Atlanta, but this is the weakest episode I have seen so far.

The humour is heavy handed here also, digging his finger in the ostrich egg is a version of well worn abusrdism and shock humour and the Breakfast Club reference was ill timed along with the referencing of real abusive parents was all heavy handed in delivering the message of the episode which itself was hitting the audience over the head with the episodes message.

To all who don't like my review is ask, u mad?

Last time I said "WTF" this much I was watching DARK

You know how when something happens in life and your mind starts saying "bro something is not right here, better GTFO"

This whole episode was like that, bizzare AF With instances of you kinda knowing where this is going to, but you dont want to judge, who are you to judge that character so instead you let things play out and duuuude.

Just go with your instincts and GTFO If something dont feel or look right GTFO.

Warning: Spoilers
This is easily one of the best "Atlanta" episodes so far! Darius (Lakeith Stanfield) really holds his own as the main character throughout the episode's entirety. Donald Glover, besides co-writing, gives an astounding performance, but you'll have to see it for yourself in order to believe it! This episode is also extremely eerie and suspenseful.

The only, and I mean ONLY reason I figured D.Glove was in the most terrifying MJ whiteface was his height. Everything else, I was waiting until the end to find out who "Teddy Perkins" was. Such a creepy episode but hilarious at the same time! I had major anxiety but that only happens when I can't immediately figure out what is going to happen, which is a sign of a great story. LaKeith as Darius was magical as well even though even space cadet Darius would've dripped out earlier than that, I mean come on he's in a fake museum with a suicidal ex-jazz legend dressed like Hugh Hefner?! Nah, bruh. Keep 'em coming, FX!

Didn't think it was possible for there to be a character more eccentric than Darius, but it was hilarious to watch!

I find it hard to review as I´m just blown away by the performance and how the episode catches you off guard versus the rest of the season.

A incredible suspenseful, scary and yet also very sad episode. I can't even believe Donald Glover was Teddy, his best performance so far. This one..yeah this episode you certainly do not want to miss.
