I do enjoy a good comedy, it has to be said.

This episode is a great way to start the new season. It's s fun quick story packed with comedy gold. This season could shape up to be better than last season and I'm saying this after viewing one episode. I do have high hopes for this season. My favorite like From the episode is from sister Michelle. "I do enjoy a good statue, it has to be said".

Any similarities?

A great start to season two, ending the conflict with the IRA and ushering a new era for Derry, the girls however, remain wonderfully unchanged. The storyline was well developed and rife with the shows signature humor.

Protestants for Sale
Hitchcoc1 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
The girls get a chance to meet some real Protestants. They are paired up with boys in a kind of effort at showing that there is little difference among these kids. Of course, the boys are totally nonplussed and confused at how the girls come on to them, thinking they are lesser beings but very sexy. One of the funniest things is when a boy who is deaf in one ear spouts off against Catholics, expressing incredible hatred toward them. One of the girls has asked him what he thinks of Catholics and his responses are almost venomous. It turns out he thought she was asking about Athletes whom he has no time for. He didn't understand her because of his hearing problem. Anyway, the whole thing is a total disaster. One of the best of all the Derry Girls episodes.

Funny and heartwarming both

My overall rating of "Derry Girls"'s Season 2: 5/10.

If I recall correctly, it was a clip from this episode that was the first thing I'd watched from "Derry Girls", and what had piqued my interest. Just as it was then, I found the jokes hilarious. Additionally, not only are there jokes, there are also some genuinely heartwarming moments throughout that really help you connect with the characters. The ending of this episode has what might be one of the most poignant scenes of the series, that has the appropriate buildup and carries a certain hopeful, uplifting message. Father Peter wasn't far off in his suggestions, but I guess the idea is that he wasn't quite speaking from the soul, while Erin found something more authentic?.. I also feel like this season had Orla's quirkiness a bit more attached to the surroundings, so instead of being a random generator she shifts to being a pseudo-random one, which results in some stronger comedy from her, bringing her up where she should be. While not every joke quite landed for me, I disliked a line of dialogue here and there, and there was at least one continuity error (Erin's pose in the opening scene), it was a very solid episode - unfortunately better than any other one in S2.
