The perfect preamble for the final episode
sorianocamilo2215 July 2019
BLL gives us the most intense and revealing moments of the season that set up the perfect scenario for the final episode. Everything that built the series this season so exquisitely results in an powerful episode as this one. It only remains to wait for the perfect conclusion.

Excellent acting

I have never hated Meryl Streep as a character so much, and it's so good to do so. What a great role for her. All of these actors are extraordinary. I just wish we had more episodes to love because I thoroughly enjoy watching this ensemble. Hope this series continues.

Everything we've been waiting for this entire season is here. So revealing for every single character, even secondary ones. Loved every minute.

"Running up that hill" by Placebo is perfection in this!

Amazing soundtrack in this one, mostly about the courtroom with Celeste (Nicole Kidman) and such a great one all the way through with everyone in it! I really hope this season gets Emmy nods next award season. No complaints in my opinion, that's all folks hope everyone else enjoys this in the same capacity as me.

Superb acting

Warning: Spoilers
Excellent performances by Nicole Kidman, Zoe Kravitz, and Laura Dern. Nicole Kidman is just brilliant and I see her winning another Emmy. I actually felt tense and uncomfortable during the scenes where she is being interrogated and blind sided and exposed by Mary Louise and her lawyer. As if I were there. As if I were Celeste and was feeling this unbearable shame for having my life exposed, or as if I were her friends and couldn't believe what was being said about someone I thought I knew so well. Excellent acting and writing. I just wish there were more episodes. Seven episodes seem far too few for this story. Only one more episode left seems too little to wrap it all up. There are so many dynamics and stories and subplots in this show with so much potential, that deserved to be further explored and developed.... it's a pity that some shows drag for 22 episodes a season without any substance, and then shows of top notch quality like Big Litttle Lies are only 7 episodes long. I get this is a mini series, but when something is this good, one just can't get enough of it with only 7 episodes. Anyway, I'm looking forward to watching the finale.

All depends on the finale

Great episode. Outstanding acting. But I want more. The previous season was more intense and thrilling. However, the success of this season depends on the finale. To find out if there are any plot twists, or just the gradual unfolding of the events of the previous episodes.

The characters seems to prepare themselves to what the season is really preparing: the lies must become truth.

When you are in abuse relationship from your family member You can't say anything to anyone Its easy to lie and pretend its not there than to say

And if you want something right you have to do it by your self

Finally
matiasbockerman19 July 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Finally something actually happens. First episode was solid build up to episodes to come and second episode was awesome. That wake a hope that this season is better than very overrated first season witch - it was good, acting, atmosphere and sharp dialogues etc - was way too much bended. But then after third, fourth and fifth episode I thought that a everything what happens inside of those three episodes could easily put in one great episode.

Now my hope awake again. This was good episode, very, very well acted, directed writed. This was captivating and interesting and it leaves me to edge of the seat waiting. I expect the final is mind blowing nothing less. One mission what is a purpose of good story is that (specially if it is slow into beginning) it must reward a viewer. I expect my time in these episodes will be rewarded.

The inconsistencies in this episode ruined the series for me
AsadoKimchi16 July 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I have marked my review for spoilers. Stop reading if you want to avoid any.

Before this episode, I thought that "Big Little Lies" was a great series. But while I was watching this episode, I realized several inconsistencies that deeply flaw the finale of the show and undermine even the whole 2nd season.

You may not agree with me, which is totally fine but the inconsistencies are mostly focused on Celeste's character. Here's the list of inconsistencies:

1) Celeste is a LAWYER (and she has a valid BAR license). It's completely idiotic to think that she didn't prepare herself to answer the questions she faced on the stand. Everyone knows Celeste's ability to take care of the twins was going to be questioned. So why did her lawyer not prepared her? Why did Celeste not prepare herself given that she knows what she was going to face and the questions they were going to ask her? The whole episode, she was an abuse victim who seems didn't know anything about law (or had any proper advice whatsoever) and at the end of the episode she suddenly remembered she is a lawyer and that she can defend herself.

2) I can't recall Celeste's area of expertise in law but it hit me that if she is (or ever was) a lawyer, she should have given the group legal advice about Perry's death. If anything, the group (or any of it's members) should have reached out a criminal attorney to get legal advice under lawyer-client confidentiality. Of course, if they had done it, the whole premise of the 2nd season would fall apart.

Let's face it. The whole show is based on the premise that lies have legal and non-legal consequences. Given this premise, how can the group avoid seeking legal counsel even when they have a lawyer (who should know better) in their group.

It Will Be An End?
Littleman9520 November 2020
This is the main question I'm keep asking to myself: it will be an and with this season?

Anyway, everyone is struggling to keep their head above water. I guess there will be a key factor that will set (or scupper) everything. Can't wait to know!

Release the Arnold Cut!
safenoe29 December 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Jean-Marc Vallée directed all episodes in series 1, and Andrea Arnold directed all from series 2. Well it was revealed in July 2019 that Andrea lost control with Jean-Marc being brought in to manage the edits. I feel bad for Andrea, who is British, that her authority was usurped. An ironically bitter twist on female empowerment that Big Little Lies embodies.

Anyway, here there's much going on. The courtroom scene with Celeste was tense, with Celeste's personal life on display. All credit to the editors - I think 14 of them? The editors managed to keep us on the edge of our seat. To cap things off, Renata husband's Gordon confessed to an affair with his erstwhile nanny.

Will the Monterey Five crack over their season 1 finale secret?

At the very end of the credits, guess what? There's a special thanks to Jean-Marc Vallée .

Release the Arnold cut!

Everything is so fake
miamijunge16 July 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I watched through half of it and then really felt compelled to point out the tackiness of this episode. Everything was so fake an unrealistic that this qualifies as a typical Tinseltown episode. The biggest evidence of this is the fact that in real life, nobody would be this weak during a trial and self incriminate to sexual endeavours. Any normal person would have just stuck to a non of your business script or twisted the encounters as simple dating episodes. On the other hand, the one lie about the man not having died of a simple accident was kept intact. How does this reconcile with the inability to defend one's own private matters? The writing on this episode reminds me of badly written Telenovelas.
