At House Byrde, it's the morning after Charlotte's emancipation announcement and everyone is upset. She and Wendy butt heads.
Elsewhere, Lickety Splitz is being held up by Cade and Wyatt. Cade, of course, wants Marty's cash, but Ruth resists. Afterward, she reports the crime to Sheriff Nix but denies knowing their identities. They took almost $20 grand. Yikes! Marty's just having a bad day. Construction has been held up on the casino, as the Snells have blocked the land. Newly in-charge Darlene tells Marty their deal is dead. Marty confronts Helen about moving on the Snells without him. He refuses to clean things up for her, but Wendy insists he'll continue to do so. At the Langmore's, Ruth demands Wyatt's stolen money back. He wants to keep it because he thinks Marty killed Russ, but Ruth insists that he didn't. They'll definitely have a showdown before the season is over. After Ruth comes for Cade's money, too, but he puts up a fight. Speaking of showdowns, Charlotte's attorney waits at the Byrde home to get emancipation papers signed. They have 2 days to sign or the truth about their family will come out in court. With Wendy in freak out mode, Marty proposes that perhaps they go on the run sooner than anticipated. Meanwhile, Petty outlines a plan for his boss to take down both the KC Mob and the cartel simultaneously by sending agents undercover to work at the casino. He then requests a transfer back to Chicago so he can care for his mom. Hey- stop making me feel any pity for Psycho Petty, Ozark.
At home, the Byrdes get back to business. Marty meets with a power company and Wendy goes to see Wilkes. Wilkes has gotten them a second chance with the commission but warns her that they will definitely extort her in exchange for approval. By the end of "The Badger," all the pieces are in play for an explosive finale. Cade goes to Petty to tell him about Marty. Marty comes to Ruth, telling her that he's bailing the second the casino is approved. But, most importantly, the Snells take a morning walk. Jacob hides a knife up his sleeve while they sip coffee and peruse the woods. When he goes to stab Darlene, it's too late. She's poisoned his drink and he dies in the leaves. "I'll make sure it means something," she says.
