Two episodes in and I'm pretty sure I'm done.
daviddilligaf23 August 2019
Was really intrigued as to how this season would play out, but there's two issues that make me wonder what on earth the creators of this season was thinking.

First of all, the MASSIVE spoiler in all the marketing (I won't expand on it here in case anyone has avoided it, but you know the one I mean.)

Secondly, this new Ami character has been completely shoehorned in. There's no need for her to be introduced whatsoever. Very lazily written and clearly there to explain plot points the writers couldn't be bothered to make a job of. With such a great cast, any one of them, especially Dylan Minnette, could've taken up the narrator mantle.

Honestly not interested to see any more at the moment. Might be done with the show entirely. Definitely going to leave it for a while. Really disappointing after two great seasons.

I don't feel sorry for Bryce no matter how much you want me to...
Wililjam29 August 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Bryce's mother doesn't like him because he's a manipulator and a rapist, aww. Bryce's new classmates bullies him because he's a rapist, aww. Bryce's girlfriend broke up with him because he raped her and got her pregnant, aww.

It was frustrating to see Ani trying to console Bryce after he wrecked a room. Like, why? He's a serial rapist. Why are you even there? Why are you talking to him? Why is this character in the show?

Don't get me wrong, I liked the episode when Ani wasn't in the scenes. Honestly, again, why is she in the show? We're the audience, her character is like a character that is meant to play the audience, always nosy, always wanting to know what everyone is thinking etc. It's annoying.

Interesting Second Episode
stuartwhite-6108223 August 2019
This season looks like it has potential to be far better than the second season. Although this episode is not as strong as the first, it manages to focus on the storylines of a range of characters all in one episode. There are some political influences in this episode, which may come to displease some of the audiences.

Nice.

So, Ani is leading role in this season and regret to say that it's not cool as previous ones, the story just got little weaker and bond between all other old characters just got little bit lousy.

If You're Breathing, You're a Liar (#3.2)

Warning: Spoilers
The episode was pretty bad at first. I especially disliked Chloe's abortion story. So cliche. The protesters at the abortion clinic, her crying during procedure, her "thinking every day about it". Really should have spared this to us. But it gets interesting after. First unlike many I do like how they try to make the viewer sympathize with Bryce. It doesn't make what he did good and excusable. Yet it makes him human. Most rapists are people we actually like until we find out what they did. They are not one sided evil characters like Bryce was. This also shows how his awful deeds led to him getting problems. His death is also a great development. Although maybe Netflix shouldn't have spoiled it to us in the trailer, would have been more shocking. Damn, they made his corpse look scary. Ani is an annoying character. All she does is walk around asking questions. And I feel like if I was one of them I would just be like "who the hell are you and how is this any of your business?". If at least it was an old character it would be different. But I guess they wanted somebody to live with Bryce. Maybe it may actually become interesting if they show how their friendship develops. So this episode shows even more potential. I may end up liking this season. Just please no more cliche cry stories a la abortion.

Warning: Spoilers
After learning about Chloe's pregnancy Zach helps her thru it And that Bryce never knew that Chloe was never pregnant Chloe lies about what she did about the pregnancy this episode is weak to the first episode mainly because of Chloe is not that interesting she pretty much broke up with Bryce because all the stuff he did but it would been different if she would of still been with him could just be me they do find Bryce at the end of this episode.

Why do they have a completely new character narrating all the story?Who is she anyways and why didn't they pick someone from the previous seasons? She is also extremely irritating. Also, why are they trying to make Bryce look like he is a good guy after all? What the heck!?

The new character ruins the entire show
sunvixen8124 August 2019
Wanted to give this show a higher rating because it was compelling but I can't stand that Ani character! There's no need for her other than to be annoying, nosy, smug, and did I mention annoying? I don't know if I'll be able to keep watching...

Ani is the WORST
FrankHonest24 August 2019
Can't stand Ani. She is SO arrogantly smug, so duplicitously two faced. This new chick is the worst thing to happen, not just this show, but to showbiz in general. She is an absolute abomination to everything humanity stands for. She is the worst pile of dog crap ever conceived in the history TV production. I hate her. And read the other reviews, everyone else agrees. She's the diversity quota, totally unneeded addition to an already great cast. Shame.

1- Please do not make people sympathize a rapist
SassySavage124 August 2019
Don't do a backstory about Bryce Walker. Don't try the "Why he is the way he is" so we have to feel sorry about him. Listen, when you rape someone there is nothing to see there other then evil. So this Season i thought Hannah would make her comeback somehow because of the theories around and i don't like this new girl being the voice of it. She is so nosy and i think she likes Bryce and is trying to know more about him which is disgusting. Also she doesn't know anything about the tapes. Just make her go away or go invest on other tv shows remakes that are worth watching and don't waste the time on a third season when there is no need for one.

A wrong turn
jillofalltrades-878966 September 2019
The Introduction of this new character as narrator has ruined the show. Why does she have a British accent? And how is she immediately integrated into this close knit troubled teen scene? Doesn't seem very realistic, does it? The Jar Jar Binks of this series. I'm bored already. Time to find something new to watch.

Ani seems from another movie
ionescuioanaanca2 September 2019
I would not say that Ani is the worst but indeed there is a problem with her character. First of all all, she has a powerful British accent, while all the other characters are speaking american English and the action of the movie is in US so a British sophisticated accent sounds so out of the place for this series. As well is her look. She looks like a character from a movie with the action happening in 1800. Her mother looks like a maid from 1800 , black woman working as a housekeeper for white/rich people. This is sooo wrong!!!!

God I hate that annoying girl
ylhameresov-180-2363323 September 2019
I was relieved after 1st episode ended that I won't hear that fake accent and that nosy annoying girl. SURPRISE, somebody thought that it is a good idea to continue like this. I closed the series and moved on, it was original 1st season with unsatisfying ending, it was good 2nd season with still doesn't answer any question from 1st season. And now it is another level of annoyance.

If I could give zero stars...
tamtam-0534927 August 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Spoiler alert! This season is absolutely terrible. I was a huge fan of the last two seasons, and was excited about this one, although I only made it through two episodes. The new character Ani is awful, couldn't get past her at all. The Second episode has a full on abortion scene, that had no warnings at the beginning of the episode. For someone who is pro-life and experienced three miscarriages, this was DISGUSTING! I only continued to watch this particular scene, hoping Chloe would change her mind. I will Not be wasting anymore time watching this absolute trash.

Political Nonsense
colins57330 August 2020
A real clear message against the pro-life viewpoint. The pro-life characters are manipulative, but when they are straight forward the writers act like claiming "it's a baby inside you" is worse than getting an abortion itself.

Not sure why Hollywood writers act like a belief in the intrinsic value of babies in the womb is some kind of radically insane viewpoint.

Most boring and nonsense episode of the series so far.
BulmaPunkRocker9 August 2022
I can say that one of the most non-sensical episodes of the series for me is S2 E6 "The Smile at the End of the Dock", but this one not only doesn't make sense, but it's boring, very boring. I don't really care much about this And character, but the two storylines here are absolutely rubbish IMO. And it's a shame that the character of Zack is dragged again to a plot that feels so forced. It's a character that has a lot of potential and the actor actually transmitted empathy in season 1, but now it feels like a character that doesn't have any real relevance.

I stopped this show after season 2 a long time ago, but I wanted to take it out of my Netflix list, so I had to re-watch the whole 2 first seasons, because I didn't remember the dynamics between the characters. If this keeps up like this episode, I think I'm gonna quit not bothering whatever may happen to these characters.
