Stars Sam Neale and Kristel Buckley give fine performances as Lux and Dee. Filming locations, set design, and costume design are given careful consideration. Visual effects and makeup are great, and I appreciate the obvious foundational inspiration from 'Color out of space.' Yet all these elements have difficulty counterbalancing the profound suspension of disbelief that this short film requires in its root premise. Moreover, however well it's executed, the unconventional core of the narrative is teased out into a very conventional trope. These critiques don't mean that 'Chromophobia' isn't entertaining, but our enjoyment is somewhat inhibited. The result is a short that's an okay watch if you come across it, but don't go out of your way to find it.
Good effort. Better luck next time.
