Surprisingly watchable
ACSpader16 April 2019
I expected this to be a hate watch (I'm not averse) but it's surprisingly not bad. It'd work much better as a comedy drama though... without any change in tone, just removal of the laugh track which kicks on after every line (most of which aren't punchlines) and honesty really kills it.

Inconsistant
mmevanille-5309718 August 2019
A tween focused sit-com. Has its moments where you think the writers have just nailed it, then other moments where you know they are writing for an audience who doesn't know any better, and they treat the audience as imbeciles. For example, accessing other people's personal information from government agencies, by simply 'sending away' for the files. In real life, there would be almost no way to access that kind of information. There were times where it just was not based in reality. But it is unique compared to most tween shows, and season 2 especially shows how some relationships can be complicated. The acting does a decent job, but don't expect too much laughs. The comedy is laugh-track induced, very basic situational humor, most of what could have been written by anyone's dad. But sometimes, just sometimes, it hits the mark.

A very hard show to watch...
rustygilligan16 April 2019
This is basically a Nickelodeon show featuring ex-Nick stars in Nick situations and scripting. Sean Astin, Melissa Joan Hart, and Ted McGinley are wonderful, but the rest of the cast is borderline. Honestly, the idea of the show is wonderful and would've made a great 2-hour film or more 'adult' series - but in this setting, it's hard to take it serious with all of the teen jokes and Nick-typical acting overshadowing the main plots. One standout is the son, Kalama Epstein, whose acting is superior to the rest of the teens. I will keep watching to see if it grows further, but it needs to improve greatly to match up to the adult stars.

One of the nicest project of Netflix
bilalsfashion3 May 2021
It involves mystery, comedy, emotions, revenge, family love, a complete package.

It's not just for teens, in my opinion, adults would like it too.

My favorite episode is 15th episode. Whole perception changes upside down after that episode.

I've not seen such will planned series for a long time.

One thing I just wanna mark that they should have closed all the matters if they didn't wanted to have another season. They left one mystery open which I didn't like.

Overall I loved it.

Glorifies theft, deception and criminal behavior
jaimegonzales21011 August 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I have no idea what audience this series would be targeting. Children shouldn't be seeing theft, deception and general criminal activity as acceptable, even "cool" behavior. The plotlines are insane: a child insinuates herself into a family by lying about being a distant relative; plotting and making attempt to steal money by transferring money from a bank that her "relative" works at; rigging a charity "poker night" event to steal the grand prize worth $7,000; Stealing 200 cell phones to wipe and resell for a "$20,000 haul"; stealing jewelry from a safety deposit box in the same bank she now interns at; etc.

The child actress regularly meets and plots with various criminal characters who assist her in her criminal endeavors. The larger overall plot is that the child intern is actively plotting to rob the bank.

This literally makes no sense to me that such a show would be made and targeted at youth. Almost every major child character in the show is shown to have a devious, self-interested nature and ulterior motives that are adverse to each other character.

My problem isn't that the plotlines and character developments are of a criminal nature, it is that they are ascribed to children and the show appears to be targeted at a young 13-16 year old audience.

What's cute about a 14-15 year old conniving criminal-in-training?

Kinda cute

A fairly cute series, storylines were well developed and interesting. Acting was stiff, but got better towards the end.

Astin and Joan Hart can't save this average sitcom fare with sub-par writing
asphyxion_15 April 2019
No Good Nick is your typical multi-cam sitcom with terrible one liners and scripted/canned laughter, and unfortunately the A-list talent of Astin and former superstar Joan Hart just can't salvage this dumpsterfire.

No Good Nick is about a young woman who cons her way into a family's life by pretending to be a distant relative. Think of Prime's "Sneaky Pete" with less heart and even less smarts. There's "literally" nothing of value in this forced sitcom that you haven't seen a thousand times over if you've ever watched television in the past 20 years. The plot is as predictable as it gets, and every genre cliche is rehashed a hundred times over.

The show itself would be much better if it didn't stick with the live studio format. Canned laughter really just sucks the spirit out of No Good Nick by taking away the potential comedic atmosphere of the show -- nothing really sticks out as being funny because the audience laughs at every little phrase.

No Good Nick is cringe-bingeing at its worst, and at thirty-plus minutes per episode, the sitcom format feels incredibly dragged out. If you're a fan of mindless sitcoms, you might enjoy No Good Nick. If you like Astin or Joan Hart as actors, I'd also recommend avoiding this dungheap unless you want to have your perception of their careers altered. They used to be two of the biggest names in Hollywood, and now they're seemingly clawing for air by being a part of this mess.

4/10, and that's being generous.

Actually really good
dirkwalker1919 April 2019
I love this show. The best thing about it is the premise. It's great fun watching Nick bond with her foster family while simultaneously robbing them. The actress who plays Nick is actually really good.

The show is sometimes cheesy, but as someone who grew up watching and enjoying sit-coms in the early 2000s cheesy doesn't bother me.

This show is fun. The lead actress is great. Definitely deserves a watch.

Season 2 is far superior
alesisqs617 August 2019
Season 1 was rough to get into as it felt more like a kids show and Melissa and Joey was a great show, much better than this show ever could be but it is what it is. They did a huge revamping in Season 2 bringing up a much larger plot point that was somehow missing from Season 1 that would have made for a much better starting position. As it stood alone, S1 was very forgettable but S2 was much, much better and had a much better grasp of consequences vs the first Season.

....what am I watching?...
ChristianLikesScreens16 April 2019
Whole show feels terribly cheap and plastic. Almost like this is the whole cast's first time ever acting. You got fake laughter after every single line and the most basic camera work I have seen in a LONG time. How on earth did Sean Astin and Melissia Hart get into this?

Gets Even Better
amalberts11 May 2019
I wasn't sure at first, but I stuck with it and it's getting REALLY good. I can't wait to see what happens when the next episodes are released. It's not like any other comedies out there right now. You really get sucked in and want to see what happens next, but took a few episodes until II felt that way.

Warning: Spoilers
I watched it, i'm Not addicted to it but it's not that bad. I'll watch it when I have nothing else to watch or do. I don't know if it's just me but they do give some ideas of how to steal like the wine thing.

Another Netflix show with an identity crisis
kythia5 August 2019
No Good Nick doesn't know if it wants to be a drama or a sitcom, and ends up being neither. The drama feels plastic and the jokes are either extremly low-key or simply not funny.

I was hoping that they would clear things up in season two, but it actually got worse. Makes me feel sorry for the actors, especially Lauren Lindsey Donzis and Sean Astin, who are trying hard to make the best out of the terrible script.

What exactly are the Creators/Writers Aiming for here?
kcalbertina5914 September 2019
Warning: Spoilers
This is a really hard show to review, because it's really all over the place in many ways. It's almost as though the writers/creators of the show were schizophrenic or something, starting in one direction then going down a totally different path.

I'll start with the basics. No Good Nick starts out as a basic sitcom with the premise that an outsider is thrown into a family and it shakes the family up a bit. The outsider, Nick, it turns out, has ulterior motives. She's a teen con artist working for a con artist couple, who want to fleece the family Nick is living with.

Some people have taken issue with the acting in this show, but for me, the acting was okay and in some episodes very good. The writing, however, was uneven at best. A lot of the comedy seemed forced to me and there were too many instances where dialogue was more stupid than funny. I'll give it a little bit of a break because the nature of sitcoms is that characters start out as caricatures. One only hopes that eventually these characters become more real and worth watching as the show goes on and to some degree that's what happened.

So the show is chugging along as a basic sitcom and then, after the first 14 episodes, the show totally changed directions. A couple of episodes took the characters that you are really beginning to care about and then just trashes them...just literally trashes every good thing you liked about the characters and the show. The mood goes from light and funny, with a touch of seriousness to a dark, gloomy show about revenge. Truth be told, the show almost lost me at that point. Even the character that was supposed to be most sympathetic in those few episodes, Nick, I grew to like less and less.

Just when I about swore off the show, the show switches again. The last few episodes of the 2nd season were probably the best of the show. Not necessarily a lot of comedy, but there were a lot of very real human moments which kind of redeemed the show for me. You got to see the other sides of several of the characters and even started to like them again. You also got to see the younger actors of the show (Siena Agudong, Lauren Lindsey Donzis, and Kalama Epstein) dig deeper in some pretty emotional moments.

I know it isn't necessary for a show to categorize itself, but what exactly are the show's creators shooting for with this show. It was a sitcom, that became an almost too dark revenge show to even be considered a comedy, to being a family dramady. Sometimes, they just plain wore out viewers trying to figure it out.

It will be interesting to see if the show gets renewed for another 10 episodes. The show pretty much wraps up most of the main storyline, although there was a dangling piece of information introduced in the final episode of the 2nd season, which could provide the direction of the show for the next season.

I gave it a chance
brenswee17 August 2019
This is simply awful. The acting is unbelievably wooden. I had read quite a number of good reviews but I don't know what those people were watching. No character is likeable, except maybe the dad, but that is only because he's not actively offensive. The plot contrivances are cringe worthy but the worst part is the fake audience laughter every other line. This wouldn't be an issue if the lines were even remotely funny. A swing and a miss.

Surprisingly not bad
calvinharris_fan8 May 2020
My expectations were really low when I watched this and I was amazed at how not awful it was. Sure, certain elements of the show were very kiddie (which I expected), such as the very cheesy jokes and blown-up side characters but the conflicts that happen in the plot are surprisingly mature. You learn over the course of the series of each of the character's motivations, understanding that both sides have a point and the way they handle it is beyond phenomenal. Good show.

I wanted to love this show as I am a huge fan of Melissa's, but this show sucked. I love Melissa and Joey and Sabrina but this show feels cheap and just isn't good.

what do we learn from the main character?
obedpires14 May 2020
Okay, at first i was expecting a plot that will put me on the edge in a good way. But after watching the first few episodes, I realized that the writers were trying to present Nick as a likable character who was very good at coning the family that took her in as a child of their own. That for me started to feel uncomfortable; the thought that a teenager can behave in such a manner and it is glorified as comedy just doesn't work for me. An adult, maybe. But It would have been better if it was a family drama, and then more intensity can be put into the actions of all the character. You really wonder what the writers are trying to achieve by that story line. One of the great essence of a comedy show is to bring comic relief. There is no comic relief trying to find out what if she gets caught episode by episode.

Cringe at it's finest
j-massey-bscc15 April 2019
This show is just awful , with stain one liners and terrible acting right from the get go , even the charm of Melissa Joan Hart couldn't save this show. What happened to the days when child actors could actually act , and middle aged actors could also actually act.

The plot of the show could be interesting if it was developed more but the show seems to only be interested in trying to make people laugh in the most unfunny ways possible. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME ! Just watch Sabrina reruns

guilty pleasure?
WhenAmyMetSalad22 April 2019
It's a fun show nothing amazing but something to let time pass while I wait for other shows to premiere. It feels like another sitcom I was watching minus the whole scams I just cant figure out which show it is. I want to say Girl Meets World but it's not that. It totally feels like something you'd find on ABC Family though.

The characters are likeable in their annoying way they all have flaws but in a natural way. Jeremy seems to be the only character who seems like the smart one even though he isn't the smartest character as everyone in this show is oblivious to their surroundings. It's also nice to see MJH back on the small screen.

No Good Nick is not good for binging but is good for a once in awhile treat. A guilty pleasure for sure.

The lead girl is just terrible....
nanixo15 April 2019
I really wanted to like this show, but the only good thing about it was Melissa Joan Hart. Unfortunately, she just doesn't play a big enough role to cancel out the rest of it. The lead girl who plays Nick is insufferable to watch and the rest of the cast is not much better. The writing definitely didn't do them any favors either. Just all around cringe worthy.

Pretty Good
primus-2061925 May 2019
This was a show I first watched with my daughter not expecting much out of it but I was pleasantly surprised. It's pretty well written and the acting is really good which isn't surprising considering it's Melissa Joan Hart and Sean Astin.

What is this even supposed to be???
frannieg-4771222 April 2019
I mean ... it's not a good comedy. It fails as a satire. The constant laugh seems to be used a punctuation .... It's everywhere to punctuate every three lines, whether they're funny or not. Not a fan.
