Cool movie to watch with kids
gotinatan25 January 2023
Such a cool movie! I watched it with my kids and they were so curious to find out where chocolate come from. We were all so surprised to see the huge cacao pods and how they grow from the tree.

It has a lot of information jammed it which can be a little too much. But I get that it's a very complex process. I loved the attention put on the farming side of it, you don't really see that much nowadays.

It's filmed around the world and features people from different parts of the world and different sides of the process. So cool!

Loved the visuals. All those pods and nature and the the cooking. All this chocolate made me so hungry!

such a surprising revelation of where chocolate comes from

This was such a gem of a movie! Simple and so heart-felt. It really makes you think about the things we take for granted. Much respect for the hard work of the farmers. I really enjoyed it!

I've never soon the full process of making chocolate and this was aye-opening. I must admit that coming into it I really had no idea that cacao is basically made from a fruit that grows on a tree. That's a was su surprising to see. I share the view of one of the people featured that it's really like "what? This is what a cacao pod looks like?!" And then all the steps that you have to go through to make the actual chocolate. I'm not a cook myslef so this was all very impressive. Makes you wonder how the original people figured out how t do all of this... Felt like a learnt a lot. Should be inculded in school classes on agriculture.

Not really about chocolate...

It's mostly about the "world-renowned chocolatiers." A rule of thumb for me - avoid movies and documentaries that describe the plot as someone's "Journey" with a capital J. In this case, there are three people who mostly love to talk about themselves. The subject of chocolate hardly matters because they're so enamored with all the attention. It was halfway through and they were still strolling around jungles looking at pods and nodding wisely, then of course talking earnestly to the camera about their Journeys. Of course, the only REAL chocolate available is in their shops - nothing we can buy at the store.
